WWE Raw News: Ricochet vs. AJ Styles, Plus Roman Reigns Competes in a Handicap Match

TJR Wrestling

An exciting, new match has been announced for Raw tonight in Everett, Washington. Following Ricochet’s US Title win over Samoa Joe at the Stomping Grounds PPV last night, Ricochet was shown getting photos with the US Title when Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson walked up to him. Ricochet wondered what they wanted, which is when AJ Styles walked into the scene. Styles told Ricochet he will see him tomorrow, meaning on Raw tonight. What did Styles mean? It’s a match on Raw between Ricochet and Styles tonight in a non-title match. Here’s more from WWE.com about it:

Ricochet took full advantage of his first singles title opportunity by overcoming Samoa Joe to capture the esteemed United States Championship. Now that he’s titleholder, however, it is clear that he will have no shortage of challengers.

Case in point: Moments after AJ Styles, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson invited themselves into the new titleholder’s photoshoot, The Phenomenal One said he would see Ricochet on Raw.

WWE.com has since learned that the two Superstars will, in fact, square off in a non-title match. Will Ricochet rise above? Will Styles end the celebration and set himself up with a future title opportunity? Will the defeated Samoa Joe play a role in the contest?

It should be an outstanding match. What will be interesting is if WWE decides to turn Styles heel along with Gallows and Anderson because if they did that it would set up Styles for several fresh opponents. Plus, we could get a Ricochet vs. Styles feud this summer and I’m all for that. My guess is Styles does turn heel in the near future. Styles had a very successful heel run in 2016 and I think he would do well as a heel again. Plus, if it makes them utilize Gallows and Anderson more as a stable with Styles then that’s a positive thing to look forward to for sure.

* The other match announced for Raw so far is Roman Reigns facing Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon in a handicap match.

This was set up when Reigns defeated McIntyre at Stomping Grounds even though McMahon tried to interfere several times throughout the match. McIntyre and McMahon were interviewed post match, which is when Shane made the handicap match.

There should be other matches and segments announced throughout the day on WWE’s social media outlets.

I’ll be back right here on TJRWrestling tonight for a live WWE Raw Deal review of the show.
