WWE NXT News: Tommaso Ciampa Out of Action With Ankle Injury That Requires Surgery

TJR Wrestling

Tommaso Ciampa wrestled with an ankle at Saturday’s NXT Takeover Chicago event and now he’s going to need surgery to repair the injured ankle, according to a report from PWInsider. Ciampa is headed to Birmingham, Alabama for the surgery according to sources that confirmed the injury to PWInsider.

Ciampa originally hurt the ankle on Thursday at a live event and there were questions about it if he would wrestle at NXT Takeover Chicago on Saturday. Not only did Ciampa wrestle at Takeover, but he wrestled without any visible problems. He also did a massive heel turn on tag team partner Johnny Gargano that ended the show.

There’s no timeline on how long he may be out after the surgery, but I think 2-3 months is realistic. It could be more. A lot of it depends on what happens after the surgery and what the doctors discover.

Ciampa appeared at last night’s NXT TV tapings on crutches. He did a promo about what happened at Takeover, which we won’t spoil here.
