WWE News: Two Matches And A Return Announced For Smackdown Live

TJR Wrestling

The WWE Smackdown brand has been doing a good job of advertising matches in advance. Raw has done it too, but it seems like Smackdown is better at it. I’m not sure why that is the case although I’m glad it happens because it’s better than having people do promos to set up matches all the time.

Anyway, here’s the news on two matches and a return for Smackdown this coming Tuesday with my thoughts shortly after. It comes from WWE.com:

In the battle for brand supremacy, SmackDown LIVE may take a commanding lead thanks to the show that Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan have planned for this coming Tuesday.

In a blockbuster main event, WWE World Champion AJ Styles will step into the ring against Dean Ambrose. The champion’s title won’t be on the line, but, if Ambrose can beat The Phenomenal One, he’ll become the No. 1 contender for the WWE World Championship. After weeks of being humiliated at the hands of Ambrose — and James Ellsworth — look for Styles to throw everything he has at The Lunatic Fringe.

Longtime rivals Kane and Bray Wyatt will also square off on Tuesday’s SmackDown LIVE — this time in a No Disqualification Match. With the dangerous Luke Harper watching Wyatt’s back, and Randy Orton always ready to strike, expect pandemonium to reign.

Also, SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will make her return to SmackDown LIVE after a short absence, and you can be sure The Irish Lass Kicker will have her sights set on the Superstar who is gunning for her title: Alexa Bliss.

Catch all this action and more on SmackDown LIVE, Tuesday night at 8/7 C on USA Network.

The Styles/Ambrose match was set up Talking Smack last week because Styles is mad at him for costing him two matches against James Ellsworthy. It’s a non-title match, which means Ambrose is probably going to win in order to set up a future title shot. I’m not a fan of champions losing non-title, but if you watch WWE with any regularity you know they do it all the time. It wouldn’t shock me if Ellsworth accidentally costs Styles or something comedic like that as a way to protect Styles if he loses.

Bray Wyatt vs. Kane doesn’t interest me much at all. Two weeks in a row we’ve seen people disappear during Wyatt matches, so why should we care about a match when people can just “disappear” after the lights go off. A No DQ match has a different feel to it at least.

Good to see Lynch is back in action. She faced Bliss at a live event last night. Her absence was only a few weeks, so I’m glad it wasn’t anything major.
