WWE News: Ruby Riott Undergoes Right Shoulder Surgery, Will Have Left Shoulder Surgery Too

TJR Wrestling

There’s some unfortunate injury news to report today because Ruby Riott, who used to lead the Riott Squad, had right shoulder surgery this week. The surgery was reported by WWE.com earlier today:

Raw Superstar Ruby Riott underwent successful surgery yesterday to repair a bilateral injury to her right shoulder, WWE.com can confirm.

Riott will receive surgery for the same injury on her left shoulder at a later date. Join WWE.com in wishing Ruby a speedy recovery!

As you can see there, no timeline has been given for how long she is going to be out of action. Since Riott will also have left shoulder surgery when she’s able to, that’s going to add more time for her to come back to WWE.

There are varying degrees of shoulder injuries and surgeries. For example, last year Sami Zayn had surgery on both shoulders and it took him nine months to come back. Some wrestlers have had torn labrums and other types of shoulder injuries that put them on the shelf for anywhere from four to six months. Sadly, WWE did not provide us with more information.

The last match that Riott competed in was Friday, May 17th in Cardiff, Wales. It was the last day of the Raw brand tour of Europe, so it’s not known if she got hurt in that match or she was working hurt and they planned to get the surgery when she returned to the US.

Riott posted this photo from her hospital bed with her right arm in a brace.

Riott has been wrestling for nine years and the surgery is likely the result of years of bumping. That’s the wrestling business.

Best wishes to Riott in her recovery and her return whether that takes place later this year or early next year.
