WWE News on Christian’s Return to Ring at Royal Rumble, His Future in WWE, Christian Comments

There was a surprising return in the men’s Royal Rumble match at last night’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Former WWE World Champion Christian returned as the 24th entrant in the match while his best friend Edge was in there in the #1 spot. Christian’s last match was in early 2014, so it’s been about seven years since he had a match.

It was at last year’s Rumble when Edge made his WWE return to the ring after nine years. Christian, like Edge, is 47 years old.

In an update on Christian’s status, PWInsider is reporting that Christian will be making future appearances in WWE. As of a few years ago, Christian wasn’t scheduled to be on Raw, which is airing shortly. The belief is that Christian will be working a part-time schedule.

The report from PWInsider also noted that Christian was officially cleared to wrestle about a week before the Rumble after he visited WWE’s main doctor in Pittsburgh. Apparently Christian kept his return a secret from most people although a small number of people did know he was coming back.

After the Rumble took place, Christian was interviewed by WWE and left the door open for more matches in the future although he didn’t offer up specifics.

It was more of the same teasing when Christian tweeted about his return today.

TJR Thoughts: Great to see Christian back. I didn’t expect it, but I’m so happy for him that it happened and of course he looked great out there. We need at least one more Edge & Christian tag team match, please.
