The changes continue for WWE Network live events. Earlier this year, WWE cut back on pay-per-view events by settling on doing 12 PPVs per year. They also changed the start time of those events to 7pmET/4pmPT. It looks like those changes are going to happen for NXT Takeover events as well.

Starting with NXT Takeover Brooklyn on Saturday, August 18th, Takeover specials will start at 7pmET/4pmPT just like the main roster shows. According to PWInsider, it’s being done that way to make it consistent with the main roster shows starting one hour earlier.

This change also means that WWE will start taping content for the following week’s NXT at around 6:15pmET in Brooklyn because they usually tape two or three matches 45 minutes before Takeover begins.

What we don’t know is if this is going to lead to a change in terms of how long Takeover events. Normally a Takeover event runs for 2 hours and 30 minutes. Some of them have gone longer than that, though. For example, the Takeover New Orleans event from April, which got a 10 out of 10 score from me, went 3 hours and 7 minutes. It’s possible that WWE starting Takeover events one hour earlier could lead to three-hour Takeover events. I think that would be fine because a lot of time they leave off some great talents from these shows. Right now, the usual style is five matches in 2 hours, 30 minutes, but if they were to do six matches in 3 hours I think that would work well.

TJR Thoughts: If it was up to me (sadly it is not) I would go with six matches for three hours for every Takeover. That makes the most sense to me.
