TJR Wrestling

A huge matchup was announced for WWE Evolution on October 28 in Long Island, New York. It’s going to be WWE Hall of Famer and 4-time Women’s Champion Lita facing off a current WWE Superstars in Mickie James, who is a 6-time WWE Women’s Champion. The last time these two women faced off was at Survivor Series 2006 when Lita retired as a full time competitor.

The match was announced by WWE during last night’s Raw and here’s what it says on WWE.com about it:

At WWE Evolution, two past rivals will once again go to war, as Lita suits up to bring her extreme arsenal against the dynamic Mickie James at the first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view on Sunday, Oct. 28.

Together, the two Superstars have captured 10 Women’s Championships, with Lita winning four titles and James earning six. Both competitors can boast a championship victory over the other, including Mickie’s win in Lita’s retirement match at Survivor Series back in 2006. Fast-forward to 2018 where this storied rivalry is now set to be renewed in groundbreaking fashion.

Don’t miss this highly-anticipated rematch 12 years in the making, Sunday, Oct. 28, at 7 ET/4 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network, featuring women’s championship matches from Raw, SmackDown LIVE, NXT and NXT UK, as well as the final of the second annual Mae Young Classic 2018.

James commented on the match on a post on Instagram where she talked about their history and showed photos of their Survivor Series 2006 match.

This is the second match announced for Evolution. The first announced match was Alexa Bliss vs. Trish Stratus. The Mae Young Classic finals are also set for Evolution, but I don’t want to put in a spoiler for it.

TJR Thoughts: I’m excited about this match because Mickie and Lita are two of the most successful women in the history of WWE. I think because they have a history and a friendship going back a lot of years, they’re going to enjoy the match a lot. Lita is 42 years old and she last worked at the Royal Rumble, but I think she should be fine in terms of being in shape and being ready for the match.
