WWE News: Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles Announced for March 26 Smackdown Live (Angle’s Last Match Ever on Smackdown)

An old rivalry will be renewed this coming Tuesday on WWE Smackdown Live for the last time. Here’s the announcement from WWE:

Kurt Angle’s farewell tour is about to hit SmackDown LIVE in the biggest way possible. Oh, it’s true.

Angle’s final match ever on the blue brand will take place this Tuesday night when the WWE Hall of Famer takes on AJ Styles. The two Superstars share a rich history, but this will be the first time the two have ever locked up in a WWE ring.

Angle has long been a cornerstone of the SmackDown brand and will undoubtedly create one last classic moment against The Phenomenal One. Watch as history is made this Tuesday night at 8/7 C on USA Network.

What isn’t mentioned in WWE’s post is that the “rich history” between Angle and Styles was spent in TNA/Impact Wrestling from when Angle joined that company in late 2006 and Styles was already established as one of their top guys. The two men wrestled dozens of times over the next decade both on TV and in PPV matches. It wouldn’t surprise if Angle requested the match so he can be in the ring with Styles one more time.

Angle, who is 50 years old, is going to retire after his scheduled WrestleMania match against Baron Corbin. Stop booing me! I didn’t make the match! Anyway, that’s the match for now and there are no indications that it will change.

Styles had a message for Angle during a WWE live event today.

TJR Thoughts: It should be an interesting match between two guys that know eachother very well. I would assume Styles gets the win even though Angle has had a few wins on TV over Chad Gable and Apollo Crews recently. I think it would be fine if Angle lost to somebody of Styles’ stature in the company.
