WWE News: Joan Jett Will Sing “Bad Reputation” for Ronda Rousey’s Entrance at WrestleMania

It was announced on Tuesday morning by WWE’s Public Relations Twitter account that Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett (inducted in 2015) will be at WrestleMania to sing “Bad Reputation” for Ronda Rousey’s entrance.

The only other musical act announced for WrestleMania 35 at this point is WWE Superstar Elias.

Rousey has used the song during her one year WWE run and she also used it in the UFC as well. “Bad Reputation” was a hit song for Joan Jett in 1981.

STAMFORD, Conn., March 26, 2019 – WWE today announced that Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett will perform at WrestleMania on Sunday, April 7, in front of a capacity crowd at MetLife Stadium and streaming live on WWE Network around the world. Jett will play her hit song “Bad Reputation” as WWE Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey makes her entrance to the ring to defend her title in a Triple Threat Match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.

“The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Joan Jett, is a music legend and icon for powerful women everywhere,” said Neil Lawi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, WWE Music Group. “Her performance at this year’s WrestleMania promises to be both exhilarating and inspiring, and we are honored to watch her join a distinct list of extraordinary performers who have lit up the WWE stage.”

Jett will join the likes of renowned artists such as Motörhead, Snoop Dogg, Pitbull, Kid Rock, Diddy, Machine Gun Kelly, Skylar Grey, Travis Barker, and fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Run-DMC who have performed at WWE’s annual pop-culture extravaganza.

During her UFC run earlier this decade, Rousey explained why the song “Bad Reputation” fit her so well.

“I tried some Rage Against the Machine songs, but none of them felt right. Then my godfather’s son suggested Joan Jett’s ‘Bad Reputation,’ from 1981. I had just heard the song on my car radio in the parking lot of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas: ‘An’ I don’t give a damn ‘bout my reputation / Never said I wanted to improve my station / An’ I’m only doin’ good when I’m havin’ fun / An’ I don’t have to please no one.’

“The song was perfect. If you’re constantly stressing over trying to get everyone to like you, you’re giving them the power to control your well being. For me it’s better to embrace the role of the heel and chase after being disliked. It’s an element of control and leaves room for error.” (MMAJunkie)

It’s a great song and Jett, who is 60 years old, will perform it at a very high level as usual.
