Chavo Guerrero Sr., the brother of the late Eddie Guerrero and father of Chavo Guerrero Jr., passed away today at the age of 68. It was noted by Chavo Jr. in a post on Instagram that his father was diagnosed with liver cancer in January. His real name was Salvador Guerrero III.
Guerrero will be remembered by WWE fans as a former Cruiserweight Champion that held the title for about one month in 2004. He was mostly used as a heel manager for his son Chavo. He often used the name “Chavo Classic” in WWE, which was pretty clever.
He was the oldest son of Gory Guerrero. Here’s a picture of him with his brothers and father. Eddie is on the right.
Here is the Instagram post from Chavo Jr.

Today the world lost a true rebel. He did things "HIS" way. Not always right, not always wrong, but He always followed what he believed in. He was diagnosed with Liver Cancer in early January of this year. As believer in Christ Jesus, he is now in Paradise. Today is a Sad day in the Guerrero Family. Rest In Peace Chavo "Classic" Guerrero Sr. #rip #nowinheaven
Chris Jericho also commented on Guerrero’s death.
My greatest compliment-
visiting with Chavo Sr before Eddie's funeral-he said "today you are a Guerrero". Loved that man! RIP ChavoClassic
