WWE: Natalya Comments on Being Left Out of Divas Revolution

TJR Wrestling

This summer the big Divas Revolution storyline began. Wrestlers Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks, who all made a big name for themselves in NXT, were brought up to the main roster. These three were then split up into factions with some of the current Divas on the RAW roster. The Divas were given much more match time and even wrestled in a giant nine-woman Divas tag team match at SummerSlam. The Divas Revolution is still going strong, however, the absence of fan favorite Natalya Neidhart has made many people grow upset. Recently, Natalya was a guest on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast and spoke on her absence from RAW and the Divas Revolution:

“To be honest, I don’t know why I’m not included in this. I don’t really have an answer. I really don’t. And your guess is as good as mine.

Even though she admits that having to watch the Divas Revolution from the bench has been rough on her, she has faith in the WWE creative team and strongly feels that her time is coming soon:

“There was a part of me where I was like, ‘I’m going to have a hard time watching all of the girls compete and not being a part of it’ and I feel like there is so much of me that is wanting to be a part of it.” Natalya said. “I just have to trust in the powers that be. I have to trust in the universe. And right now is not my time and I’ll just help everybody celebrate their time and be supportive of them because one day it will be my time.”

Mark’s reaction:

Tyson Kidd suffered a terrible injury over the summer that required some heavy duty surgery. Since I knew how serious the injury was (apparently only 5% of people survive the type of injury) I just assumed Natalya took some time off to look after her husband. Although she may have in fact taken some time off, it seems here that she has been very much around and waiting to be called upon to get back in the game.

Natalya has always been one of my favorite female wrestlers in the WWE and is arguably the very best in ring performer they have. I’ve been frustrated with the way WWE has utilized her the past five or so years as I felt she really could have been the face of the Divas division. Everything the WWE is hyping Nikki Bella up to be as this “dominant face of the Divas division for years” should have been Natalya in my opinion. However, the past is the past and you can’t change it, I get it. Nevertheless, I’ve got to agree with Natalya in thinking that the WWE has plans for her to be integrated into this revolution in a big way soon. The revolution is beginning to lose a bit of steam due to repetitive matches and seeing the same 9 women over and over again. I also don’t think the Bellas are going to be around much longer. Although it may be wishful thinking, I really do feel that Nattie is WWE’s wildcard and they’re just saving her for a bigger angle down the road. WWE, please prove me right.

Do you think the WWE has any future plans for Natalya or will she be forever stuck in this “we don’t know what to do with you” limbo? Do you see a potential WrestleMania Divas Championship match in her future? Which of the new wave of Divas (Banks, Charlotte, Becky, and Bayley) would you like to see Natalya go up against on a grander stage?
