WWE: Jeff Hardy Pleads Guilty to DWI, Driver’s License Suspended 120 Days

TJR Wrestling

Jeff Hardy, the current United States Champion on WWE’s Smackdown, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated in March. On Monday, Hardy pleaded guilty to DWI and he will have his driver’s license suspended for 120 days according to WBTV in Charlotte.

Hardy was also fined $300 for court costs and will have 120 days to complete 48 hours of community service. In addition to that, Hardy will have to complete an assessment and treatment class in addition to giving up his license for 120 days.

At the time of his arrest, TMZ reported that Hardy “submitted to a breath test and blew a .25 — more than three times the legal limit.”

Hardy is wrestling Shinsuke Nakamura for the first time ever on Smackdown tonight. Hardy is not scheduled for a match at Money in the Bank on Sunday. WWE is also advertising a WWE 24 special on Matt and Jeff Hardy on WWE Network following Money in the Bank on Sunday.

TJR Thoughts: It’s interesting how WWE chooses to handle things like DWI’s because Hardy faced no disciplinary actions from WWE as far as we know. Maybe he got fined and we didn’t hear about it. I don’t know. I’m just saying that in terms of his TV time, Hardy has been featured more after the DWI (he was out of action with a shoulder injury when it happened) and they put the US Title on him.

I really hope that Jeff has learned his lessons from numerous run-ins with the law. Jeff is 40 years old, he’s married with two young daughters at home and he’s got millions of dollars in the bank. He shouldn’t ever think about driving while intoxicated. Get a friend to drive, call a cab, get an Uber or whatever. Just don’t do it again.
