WWE Hell in a Cell: Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte Will Main Event (Maybe)

TJR Wrestling

It was announced by WWE Raw General Manager Mick Foley on Tuesday via a Facebook post that Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte will main event WWE Hell in a Cell on Sunday, October 30 in Boston. It’s the first ever women’s Hell in a Cell match. Banks defends the Raw Women’s Title against Charlotte in Banks’ hometown of Boston.

It’s the first time that a women’s match will headline a WWE pay-per view event.

Here is the Facebook post from Foley, which featured the photo of Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and GM Foley you see above.

CHILLS
Forget for a moment about Stephanie McMahon’s jumping high-five or my awkward attempt to hug the#RAW Comissioner. The biggest moment of the night for us came when the #WWE cameras were off, and Stephanie and I just looked at the #HIACposter, realizing that for #WomensWrestling, history is upon us – as Sasha Banks and Charlotte will main event the #HIAC PPV. I am so happy for Sasha, for Charlotte, for all the women who paved the way, and all those who aspire to follow in their footsteps. It is no exaggeration to say that looking at that poster gave me chills…and they were multiplying.

Congrats to Sasha and Charlotte. I think they deserve it. It’s very cool to see that there is finally going to be a women’s match in the main event of a pay-per-view.

As for the match, I fully expect Banks to retain the title and put an end to their feud for this year at least.

UPDATE: Foley added this to the post because he was probably told it’s not the last match for sure.

Mick’s note: I have no idea which match will go on last, or which match will go down in history as being the official main event. The Universal Championship match between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins is shaping up to be something special, and I am sure both men will be doing their best to steal the show – which is as it should be. In the end, the main event is whatever each fan decides it is.

In other words, it may not be the main event after all. Find out on October 30.
