WWE Has Future Plans For Stardust And Stephen Amell

TJR Wrestling

WWE has been teasing a confrontation between Stephen Amell and Stardust for a while now. On the December 21, 2015 edition of Monday Night Raw, the Slammy Awards were held. Stephen Amell won the award for Celebrity Moment of the Year for his big dive outside the ring onto Stardust and King Barrett at last year’s SummerSlam. Stardust “stole” Amell’s Slammy Award, an award which Amell has taken to social media to say he wants back.

The Heroes and Villains Fan Fest convention will also be taking place on January 23 and 24 (Royal Rumble weekend) at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. Both Amell and Stardust are being advertised for the convention. You can click here to view the video Heroes and Villains Fan Fest released to promote the event. Amell and Stardust are featured heavily in it. PWInsider is reporting that the WWE is planning on shooting some footage of Amell and Stardust at the convention. WWE.com has even reported on a possible confrontation between the two at the convention this weekend. You can read their coverage here.

A singles match between Amell and Stardust have apparently been in the works for a while now, and it looks like they may finally be shooting an angle to set up this match. WrestleMania has traditionally had celebrity appearances at their biggest event of the year, with some competing in matches or getting in physical altercations with the wrestlers. It looks like WrestleMania 32 could potentially see Amell vs. Stardust in a match that will most likely end their lengthy feud.

Mark’s reaction: It’s WrestleMania so it’s inevitable that there will be celebrity involvement. Having Amell vs. Stardust is a match that I don’t think should take up someone else’s match on the “grandest stage of them all”, but if they must do a celebrity match at ‘Mania then I wouldn’t mind this to be the one. Amell surprised a lot of people with his athleticism during his tag match against Stardust at SummerSlam, so maybe he can make for a cool ‘Mania moment if they do go forward with having the match then.

Amell is also great on the mic. You would think that this would be an obvious statement since he’s an actor, but we’ve seen a lot of times in the past where actors just sort of phone it in and don’t take the WWE seriously at all. That’s not the case with Amell, check out the clip attached below of him holding his own against Triple H. Amell has been a die hard wrestling fan his entire life and it shows whenever he’s on WWE television. He takes any role he’s given by the WWE incredibly seriously and that’s more than I can say about 95% of the celebrities that have been involved with the WWE. You know Amell will give it his all, so here’s to hoping they build up to a match we can get excited about.
