It was announced on Monday that WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble event will feature seven championship matches along with the 50-Man Royal Rumble match. WWE issued the following press release that they also posted on WWE.com today.

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA and STAMFORD, Conn. — Following an agreement between His Excellency Turki Al Sheikh and WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia invites the world to the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, April 27, at 7 p.m. AST to celebrate the Greatest Royal Rumble event in WWE history. Tickets will be available Saturday, March 31, and this historic event will feature seven championship matches, including the WWE Championship, Universal Championship, Intercontinental Championship, United States Championship, Raw Tag Team Championship, SmackDown Tag Team Championship and Cruiserweight Championship.

In addition to the seven championship matches, the event will also include the first-ever 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble Match.

Fans will get to see WWE Superstars John Cena, Triple H, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, The New Day, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt and Shinsuke Nakamura, among others. Additional ticket details and broadcast information will be available in the coming weeks.

That means every championship on the main roster will be defended except the Raw Women’s Championship and Smackdown Women’s Championship. The reason for that is likely because they have stricter rules in the Middle East against women’s wrestling, so perhaps the women of WWE won’t even be on the show.

What WWE hasn’t announced is if this event will be on WWE Network, but all indications are that it will be.

Roman Reigns was recently on The Jim & Sam Show and said this about the event:

“We have South Africa and Saudi Arabia with the greatest battle royal of all time. So that’s going to be huge. Hopefully I’m not giving away spoilers here… breaking news, happening now… but I think it’s going to be a huge WWE Network special.”

As you can see above, the event airs on a Friday, April 27 at 7pm AST, so that would mean the Greatest Royal Rumble event would air Friday at 12pmET.

More details on this event should be out in the coming weeks.
