WWE Fastlane Lineup Update: Intercontinental Title Match Added, McIntyre vs. Sheamus Rumored Match

The next WWE pay-per-view is called Fastlane on March 21. For those of you in America, you can watch it on WWE Network and also the Peacock streaming service because WWE Network is moving to Peacock on March 18. There are only three official matches for Fastlane even though the PPV takes place in eight days.

A new match was added to Fastlane after last night’s Smackdown. Big E is going to defend the Intercontinental Title against his rival Apollo Crews. This has been built up well after Crews failed to beat Big E for the IC Title as a face, so Crews turned heel with a cheap attack. That led to Big E missing two weeks of Smackdown, then Big E came back this week and after Big E beat Sami Zayn again, Crews attacked Big E again. It has become one of the most intense rivalries in WWE.

We also learned that Edge will face Jey Uso on Smackdown next week. The winner of that match will be the “Special Guest Enforcer” for the Reigns/Bryan match for the Universal Title at Fastlane.

There are currently no matches advertised from the Raw brand, which is weird, but that’s WWE these days. One match that is very likely to happen is Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus. They had a match on Raw two weeks ago with McIntyre beating Sheamus clean. This past week on Raw, Sheamus attacked Drew and that led to a No Disqualification Match between them. That match ended with each man hitting the other guy with the steel steps and then both guys sold it like they were knocked out. That meant a No Contest. The expectation, according to Bryan Alvarez on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, is that McIntyre will face Sheamus again in a Last Man Standing Match. The winner of that match would go on to WrestleMania 37 to challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Title. The expectation is that it would be McIntyre winning that LMS match. For now, it’s just a rumor. We should find out more on Raw this coming Monday.

The official Fastlane lineup looks like this right now:

WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Daniel Bryan

Intercontinental Championship: Big E (c) vs. Apollo Crews

Women’s Tag Team Championships: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair

WWE Fastlane is streaming live Sunday, March 21, beginning at 7 ET/4 PT on Peacock and WWE Network.
