WWE Divas Title Match Announced For Hell in a Cell – Will Sasha Banks Be A Part Of It?

TJR Wrestling

The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California will play host to the seventh annual WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event on October 25th. The original plan for the PPV was to have Charlotte defend her Divas Championship in a triple threat match against Nikki Bella and Paige. However, since Sasha Banks was able to beat Nikki Bella this past week on Smackdown, there has been speculation that she will be added to the Divas Championship picture at WWE Hell in a Cell turning the match into a Fatal 4 Way.

It looks as if working Banks into the Divas Championship match on October 25th will continue to play out on Monday Night Raw as WWE posted the following teaser for the tonight’s show:

“Paige’s streak of stealing the spotlight ceased at Madison Square Garden on Saturday when Charlotte and Becky Lynch turned the tables on her by abandoning her during their match against Team Bella. However, while that situation continues to develop, the members of Team B.A.D. are stealthily positioning themselves as a serious threat to Charlotte’s Divas Championship reign. In SmackDown’s Six-Diva Tag Team Match, Team B.A.D. defeated Team Bella when Sasha Banks made Nikki Bella — the longest-reigning Divas Champion of all time — tap out to the Bank Statement.

As the Divas division continues to implode, will Team B.A.D. continue to capitalize on the chaos this week?”

Late on Monday afternoon, it was announced on WWE.com that it will be Charlotte vs. Nikki Bella for the Divas Title in a singles match at Hell in a Cell.

A singles match makes sense because Nikki’s the former champion getting her rematch. It’s possible that could change, of course.

Mark’s reaction:

I definitely think Banks will be added to the Divas Championship match at Hell in a Cell. Having a singles match or triple-threat match between Charlotte, Nikki, and Paige makes Team B.A.D. too much out of the conversation. The WWE doesn’t want you to forget about Team B.A.D. so they’ll make sure they put Banks in this match. Since Banks is such a good in-ring performer, I don’t think that the addition of an extra wrestler will make that much of a difference in terms of match quality.

I also wouldn’t be too surprised if Banks actually won the title from Charlotte. In my opinion, having a heel champion is always better than a face champion. The “good guy” chasing after the “bad guy’s” belt just works out better. Banks is a dominant heel who I can see holding the belt all the way until WrestleMania. It’s a nice way too: 1 – slowly phase Nikki out of the picture (she’s been talking about ending her wrestling career for a while now) and 2 – Assert Banks’ dominance over the division by reaffirming that she will not be on the back burner in the Divas Championship picture. In winning the title, Banks can turn on her Team B.A.D. members to add to her heel persona by saying that they were “holding her down.”

Since Paige won the Divas Championship on her first night on Raw, I don’t think that Banks winning it at Hell in a Cell is too farfetched.
