TJR Wrestling

There’s some very sad news to report tonight because Ashley Massaro has passed away at 39 years of age. She would have turned 40 years old on May 26. Ashley is a former WWE Diva Search Winner in 2005 and later she was a WWE Diva that also competed on the reality show Survivor. She was the mother to one daughter.

Ashley’s death was reported by TMZ Sports, who wrote that “Massaro was transported from her home in Suffolk County, NY to a nearby hospital where she died early Thursday morning. Officials would not reveal the cause of death at this point, but we’re told it’s being classified as “non-criminal.””

Ashley worked for WWE from 2005 until July 2008. During her career, she posed for Playboy magazine, she wrestled at WrestleMania, she teamed up with legends like Trish Stratus and Mickie James in one of her first storylines and she was always very popular with the WWE fans.

It was reported by The Blast that law enforcement was called to her home for a “rescue call” at 5:23 AM and she was transported to a local hospital where she passed away.

WWE posted about it this evening as well:

We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro. She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends.

They posted a photo gallery of Ashley here.

Ashley last sent out a tweet yesterday saying she responded to fan mail.

This is very sad news. I know she hasn’t been in the wrestling business for a decade, but she still appeared at wrestling indy shows and conventions even as recently as this year’s WrestleMania. I didn’t know of any health issues with her or anything wrong. I had met her a few times at those wrestling conventions. She was so nice to everybody.

On behalf of everybody associated with TJRWrestling, we send our heartfelt condolences to Ashley’s family, friends and fans all around the world. Gone too soon. Very sad to learn of this news today.
