WWE Clash of Champions Lineup Update – Two More Title Matches Added

TJR Wrestling

There were two more matches added to the WWE Clash of Champions pay-per-view, which takes place two weeks from today on September 15 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The New Day’s Big E and Xavier Woods will defend the Smackdown Tag Team Titles against The Revival, who issued the challenge. They have had issues for weeks, The Revival also injured the knee of Woods in the storyline to take him out for a couple of weeks, so it should lead to a very good match.

It was also announced that Shinsuke Nakamura will defend the Intercontinental Championship against The Miz. Even though The Miz lost in round one of the King of the Ring tournament, he gets a title shot. Why? Because it’s WWE. I guess the reason for it is because he was targeted by Sami Zayn and Nakamura since Miz is a former 8-time IC Champion. I just don’t think Miz has been booked well at all this year and getting a title shot seems like a career accomplishment.

The Revival and Miz are Raw superstars, but as we know in today’s WWE, the brand of the superstars don’t matter at this point. Anybody can get a title shot on any show.

Here’s the official lineup so far.

WWE Universal Championship: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Braun Strowman

WWE Championship: Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Randy Orton – This was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Smackdown Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

Raw Tag Team Championships: Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode

Smackdown Tag Team Championships: The New Day’s Big E and Xavier Woods (c) vs. The Revival

Intercontinental Championships: Shinsuke Nakamura (c) (w/Sami Zayn) vs. The Miz

King of the Ring Tournament Finals: Raw wrestler (Ricochet, Samoa Joe, Baron Corbin or Cedric Alexander) vs. Smackdown wrestler (Elias, Ali, Andrade or Chad Gable)

Cruiserweight Championship: Drew Gulak (c) vs. Humberto Carrillo

Other notes:

Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will probably face Sasha Banks. Lynch was off WWE TV last week because she was on vacation with fiance Seth Rollins.

United States Champion AJ Styles will likely have a match on the show since every title is supposed to be on the line. It’s not known who his opponent will be.

Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross have no obvious challengers at the moment. Another title shot for Asuka and Kairi Sane is possible since they are babyface opponents.

If there’s a non-title and non-tournament match on the card then it might be Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan.

KING OF THE RING

This Monday on Raw, which is Labor Day, it will be Samoa Joe vs. Ricochet and Cedric Alexander vs. Baron Corbin. The winners of those matches will meet in the semifinals on the September 9th Raw at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

This Tuesday on Smackdown, it will be Elias vs. Ali and Chad Gable vs. Andrades. The winners of those matches will meet in the semifinals on the September 10th Smackdown at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

My pick is Andrade over Ricochet in the finals. How about you? There are plenty of ways it can go, but I think Ricochet and Andrade are the right choices to make the finals.

That’s all for now. I’ll be back tomorrow night for a WWE Raw Deal review.
