WWE Clash of Champions Adds Women’s Tag Team Title Match, 11 Matches Official, Two More Likely

TJR Wrestling

A new match has been added to the WWE Clash of Champions card on September 15. The event takes place in Charlotte, NC with the theme that every championship in WWE will be on the line.

The match will see Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defend the Women’s Tag Team Titles against Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. This past Tuesday on Smackdown, Mandy and Sonya pinned Alexa and Nikki in a tag team match on Smackdown this week. The “lose a non-title match to set up a PPV title match” formula strikes again as it does for pretty much every WWE PPV for over 20 years now.

I think Bliss and Cross will retain the titles although Rose and Deville are certainly a team that could be a successful championship team. I just feel like it’s early in the Bliss/Cross reign, so I think the champs will hold onto their titles.

Here are the official matches.

WWE Universal Championship: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Braun Strowman

WWE Championship: Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Randy Orton

Raw Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Sasha Banks

Roman Reigns vs. Erick Rowan

Smackdown Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

Raw Tag Team Championships: Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode

Smackdown Tag Team Championships: The New Day’s Big E and Xavier Woods (c) vs. The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder)

Intercontinental Championships: Shinsuke Nakamura (c) (w/Sami Zayn) vs. The Miz

King of the Ring Tournament Finals: Raw wrestler (Ricochet, Samoa Joe or Baron Corbin) vs. Smackdown wrestler (Elias or Chad Gable)

Women’s Tag Team Championships: Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross (c) vs. Fire & Desire (Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville)

Cruiserweight Championship: Drew Gulak (c) vs. Humberto Carrillo vs. Lince Dorado

Other Notes

There will be at least one more match or perhaps two of them.

On Monday’s Raw, WWE has announced US Champion AJ Styles vs. Cedric Alexander in a non-title match. I assume that’s going to end in a DQ or maybe a win for Alexander, which should lead to a US Title match because

Could the 24/7 Title be in an official match too? It’s likely since every title is supposed to be on the line. R-Truth is the current and 14-time 24/7 Champion after Smackdown this week.

That means it’s a 13 match card. There should be a few matches on the Kickoff Show for sure.

I’ll have a 10 Questions and Answers column about Clash of Champions on Sunday.
