The domestic violence charges facing WWE Hall of Famer and announcer Jerry “The King” Lawler have been dropped, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Lawler’s attorney Ted Hansom said it was “a big misunderstanding and won’t happen again. We are happy with the outcome.” The story also notes that the charges will be expunged from their records

On June 17, Lawler, who is 66 years old, and his fiancee Lauryn McBride, who is 27 years old, got into a fight at their home. There were no major injuries during the incident while Lawler claimed that she was drunk and he was trying to prevent her from driving the car. Lawler has never drank alcohol or smoked in his life. The police were called and both of them were arrested because they couldn’t determine who started.

Lawler ended up being suspended by WWE. He was replaced on Smackdown by David Otunga.

Here’s the official statement from WWE: “Jerry Lawler’s legal matter has been resolved and his suspension has been lifted, effective immediately.”

Analysis: I’m happy for Jerry. He’s a good man from all accounts and after his heart attack from a couple of years ago, I really hope he enjoys life to the fullest. With that said, maybe it’s time to stop dating women that are nearly 40 years younger than him.
