WWE Announces WrestleMania 36 Will Take Place on April 5th at WWE Performance Center
The following statement was issued by World Wrestling Entertainment today.
“In coordination with local partners and government officials, WrestleMania and all related events in Tampa Bay will not take place. However, WrestleMania will still stream live on Sunday, April 5 at 7 pm ET on WWE Network and be available on pay-per-view. Only essential personnel will be on the closed set at WWE’s training facility in Orlando, Florida to produce WrestleMania.”
The reason for this is due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that the world is dealing with right now. I’m sure you know about it since it’s all over the news.
WWE fans were wondering if WrestleMania would still take place and now we know that it is. Note that the statement from WWE said “WrestleMania and all related events” will not be in Tampa, so things like Hall of Fame, Axxess and NXT Takeover are not going to happen, but that could be postponed to later in the year.
The other events being canceled was mentioned in this post by PWInsider as well. They posted this statement about it.
“The WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony and NXT TakeOver will not take place as previously scheduled. We will share further details as they become available.”
There should be more info about refunds for those events soon.
TJR Thoughts: It will be awkward and different, but the show must go in WWE’s eyes, I guess.
