WWE Announces Network Special In Toronto March 12 Called “Road To WrestleMania”

TJR Wrestling

It was announced during Wednesday’s WWE live event in Toronto that WWE will be holding a live WWE Network special at the Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday March 12. There’s no word on any of the matches at this point. They’re calling it a “Road to WrestleMania” special.

There is already speculation that Brock Lesnar will be in a match because he was a part of other live event specials in Tokyo and New York City. Since he’s expected to be a big part of WrestleMania, it makes sense that he would be there. For now, we don’t know for sure.

Tickets are available via a Presale Code right here if you use the code WWESPECIAL.

TJR Thoughts: It’s nice that WWE is kind enough to bring a WWE Network special to Toronto, but it’s really just a televised house show where nothing major will happen. They usually don’t advance storylines at all. These events don’t excite me much at all.

Toronto hasn’t had a PPV since September 2006 with the excellent Unforgiven show (Cena vs. Edge TLC, Trish Stratus’ retirement match), which is ridiculous. I may be biased because I live two hours away from there, but if you watch a WWE show that takes place in Toronto it’s obvious that they have great fans. For whatever reason, in the past five years or so they have neglected Toronto and really the entire Canadian market big time. Toronto didn’t have a live Raw in 2015 and in the last few years have barely had any television shows. They get live events, though.

I’m not sure why WWE hates Toronto – it just feels like they do. I’ve had people suggest to me that it’s because of the crowd reactions. I don’t think so because there are a lot of big markets that have loud fans that chant for the heels or do things that the company doesn’t like. Do you think Vince McMahon liked the Brooklyn crowd chanting for CM Punk on Monday’s Raw? Oh hell no. Maybe it’s a money thing or a tax thing. I’m not sure, but it would be nice if WWE cared about their Canadian fans more than they currently do.

What a way to start off the new year with some positivity huh? Sorry. I’ll be happier most of the time!
