WWE Announces Ciampa vs. Gargano Last Man Standing Match for NXT Title at Takeover Brooklyn Aug. 18
It was announced on Thursday afternoon that the main event of NXT Takeover Brooklyn on August 18 in Brooklyn, New York has been changed. Instead of NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa facing former champion Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano in a triple threat, it will now be Ciampa vs. Gargano in a Last Man Standing match for the NXT Title.
The announcement was officially made by NXT GM William Regal in a video on WWE.com and WWE’s social media channels. The reason for the change is because Aleister Black suffered a legit groin injury over a week ago that required surgery. There was an angle done after this week’s NXT to explain Black’s absence and that’s why Regal announced the change today. You can watch the announcement below.
It will be the third straight Takeover with a Ciampa vs. Gargano match. Gargano won the first match in New Orleans, Ciampa won the rematch in controversial fashion in Chicago and now the third match is for the coveted NXT Title. Yes, I know they wrestled in the Cruiserweight Classic in 2016, but I’m talking about their NXT matches. These last two matches were five stars out of five to me. This one should be awesome too.
Ciampa tweeted this out following the announcement.

Here’s the full lineup for Takeover Brooklyn:
* Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Johnny Gargano in a Last Man Standing match for the NXT Championship
* Adam Cole (c) vs. Ricochet for the NXT North American Championship
* The Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong) (c) vs. Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate and Trent Seven) for the NXT Tag Team Championships
* Velveteen Dream vs. EC3

That is a great card. This might be the best NXT Takeover event ever and that’s saying a lot considering how many great ones there have been.
