1963 – At the WWWF Washington Show in Washington, D.C, Buddy Austin and George Scott became new WWWF United States Tag Team Champions after beating Buddy Rogers and Johnny Barend in a 2-out-of-3 falls match.

1970 – Freddie Blassie defeated Rocky Johnson to win the NWA Americas Heavyweight Title in Los Angeles, California.

1972 – NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling) holds its first ever show in the Ota Ward Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, called Opening Series. On the show:

  • El Furioso defeated Tatsumi Fujinami.
  • Ivan Kameroff defeated Osamu Kido.
  • Shoji Kai defeated Brooklyn Kid.
  • Inca Peruano vs. Katsuhisa Shibata ended in a Double Count Out.
  • Kotetsu Yamamoto and Toyonobori defeated Jim Durango and John Durango in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls Tag Team Match.
  • Karl Gotch defeated Antonio Inoki.

1994 – At an ‘ECW Hardcore TV’ taping at the ECW Arena, The Public Enemy won the ECW World Tag Team Championship with a victory over Kevin Sullivan and The Tazmaniac. On the same taping, The Tazmaniac defeated Sabu to win the ECW Television Championship before losing it to J.T Smith.

1996 – In his last match with WCW before leaving for WWE, Johnny B. Badd dropped the WCW World Television Championship to Lex Luger at a WCW Saturday Night taping in Macon, Georgia.

1999 – AJPW held their Budokan Hall Show in Tokyo, Japan. Vader became the new AJPW Triple Crown Champion after defeating Akira Taue by pinfall in the main event. The title had been vacated back in January by Toshiaki Kawada due to having suffered a broken arm.

2000 – WWF Monday Night Raw was in Springfield, Massachusetts and four out of the nine matches on the card ended in disqualifications.

  • The Big Show defeated Kane via disqualification after The Rock interfered.
  • Road Dogg and X-Pac defeated Too Cool (Grandmaster Sexay and Scotty 2 Hotty) via disqualification after Kane interfered.
  • Rikishi defeated WWF Champion Triple H by disqualification after Triple H hit him with a steel chair.
  • Chris Jericho defeated Kurt Angle via disqualification after Bob Backlund randomly made his way through the crowd and put Jericho in the Crossface Chickenwing.

2004 – CZW Overdrive was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the main event of the show The Messiah defeated John Zandig in a ‘Taipei Bed Of Nails Deathmatch’ to become the new CZW Champion.

2004 – Ray Fernandez, better known as Hercules in WWE, died as a result of heart failure aged 46.

2007 – Former WWE and Stampede Wrestling star Allen Coage (Bad News Brown/Allen) died of heart failure at the age of 63.

2015 – After allegations of bullying, Bill DeMott resigned from his positioned as head trainer at the WWE Performance Center.

2017 – At the Northumbria University Students Union, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England, WCPW holds ‘Exit Wounds’. On the show Cody Rhodes retains the WCPW Internet Title against Liam Slater, Bea Priestley defeats Kay Lee Ray to keep hold of the Womens Title and in the main event Drew Galloway (McIntyre) retains the WCPW World Title against Will Ospreay.
