Updated WWE Extreme Rules Lineup – Three Title Matches Added, Other Rumored Matches

The next WWE pay-per-view event is called Extreme Rules and it takes place on July 14 in Philadelphia. The first two matches were announced on Raw and then three more matches were announced on Smackdown and 205 Live last night.

The WWE Title match was set up after Kofi Kingston beat Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens on Raw. After the match, Kingston was attacked by former United States Champion Samoa Joe, who lost the title this past Sunday at Stomping Grounds to Ricochet. Joe wasn’t on Smackdown because the Raw brand was off to Singapore. Kingston beat Dolph Ziggler for the third time this month to keep Ziggler from being added to the match. Joe is a Raw guy and Kingston’s a Smackdown guy, but WWE has ignored the brand extension for weeks now, so I guess it doesn’t matter anymore. It’s a fresh matchup and feud for the WWE Title.

Bayley has to defend her Smackdown Women’s Title against Alexa Bliss for the second straight PPV because Nikki Cross beat Bayley clean on Smackdown. It was a move counter into a pin for Cross and it was enough to win the match.

The third official match that was set up this week was on 205 Live when Tony Nese beat Akira Tozawa. Thanks to the win, Nese will challenge new Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak for the title at Extreme Rules.

Since the PPV name is Extreme Rules, there will likely be some matches with stipulations, but right now, they are just regular matches.

The list of official matches looks like this:

For the Universal and Raw Women’s Championships: Seth Rollins (c) and Becky Lynch (c) vs. Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans

Roman Reigns and The Undertaker vs. Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon

WWE Championship: Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Samoa Joe

Smackdown Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs. Alexa Bliss

Cruiserweight Championships: Drew Gulak (c) vs. Tony Nese

Some other matches that are expected/rumored based off this week’s WWE TV are:

United States Championship: Ricochet (c) vs. AJ Styles

Smackdown Tag Team Championships: Daniel Bryan and Rowan (c) vs. The New Day

Raw Tag Team Championships: The Revival (c) vs. The Usos

Intercontinental Championship: Finn Balor (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

There is a rumor that Aleister Black will face Cesaro, but it’s not known if that will happen at Extreme Rules or some other time.

There are still many other wrestlers that could be on the card as well.
