Updated Lineup for WWE Elimination Chamber on Feb. 21 – Three Title Matches Official

The next WWE pay-per-view (for Raw and Smackdown wrestlers) on WWE Network is Elimination Chamber on Sunday, February 21. There is also WWE NXT Takeover Vengeance Day this Sunday, February 14, so it’s back to back Sundays of WWE PPV style events.

Last night on Raw, they announced three championship matches for the Elimination Chamber PPV.

The WWE Title will be on the line inside the Elimination Chamber with Drew McIntyre defending the title against five former WWE Champions: Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton, Sheamus, AJ Styles and The Miz. Drew and Sheamus wanted a singles match, they even complained to Shane McMahon and Adam Pearce about it separately, but it’s going to be an Elimination Chamber match. AJ Styles beat Jeff Hardy by submission. Randy Orton also beat Drew McIntyre by disqualification due to Sheamus accidentally hitting Randy with a Brogue Kick when he was aiming for McIntyre. Right after that, McIntyre hit a Claymore Kick on Sheamus to end the show.

TJR Thoughts: My feeling now is that they are going with Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus at WrestleMania and they might even have Sheamus win the title here at Elimination Chamber. That way, Drew can win the title back at WrestleMania so he can get a big pop in front of the fans in Tampa Bay. I also think WWE could do a better job of announcing who is in the Elimination Chamber match. Guys like The Miz and Jeff Hardy aren’t booked in a strong manner. I’d rather see guys like Bobby Lashley or Keith Lee in the match because at least they look more credible.

The United States Title will be defended in a triple threat match. Last week on Raw when Bobby Lashley was defending the US Title against Riddle, Lashley beat him up and got disqualified. I guess that means Riddle gets another US Title shot because Lee beat Riddle on Raw this week. Lashley beat up both guys after their match.

TJR Thoughts: I tried to explain the reason for Riddle getting the title shot. That is me doing what WWE should be doing. They should tell us why Riddle is getting the US Title match. Instead, he just gets announced for the match and fans are left to wonder why since we just saw Riddle lose to Lee on Raw. Anyway, perhaps they are doing a triple threat to have Lee or Riddle win the title without Lashley getting pinned. I think it’s a possibility.

Lacey Evans earned a Raw Women’s Title shot against Asuka because Evans beat Charlotte Flair in a match that ended in disqualification. The reason there was a disqualification is because Charlotte shoved the referee when he tried to stop her from repeatedly attacking Evans against the turnbuckle. It’s a terrible way to have somebody earn a title shot, but that’s WWE.

TJR Thoughts: I’m not sure where things are going here. I hope Asuka keeps the title, but I wouldn’t be shocked if WWE wanted to get the title on Lacey to have her defend against Charlotte at Fastlane and/or WrestleMania. They could get Asuka into the mix to make it a triple threat too. I don’t think this Charlotte/Lacey storyline is good at all.

Here’s the lineup for now.

WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles vs. The Miz vs. Sheamus

United States Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) (w/MVP) vs. Keith Lee vs. Riddle

Raw Women’s Championship: Asuka (c) vs. Lacey Evans (w/Ric Flair)

That’s all for now. We should know more matches on Smackdown this week as well.
