Update on WWE’s Plans for Roman Reigns at Fastlane on March 10 (Spoiler)

TJR Wrestling

It looks like Roman Reigns will be back in action in a WWE ring very soon. Reigns made his return to WWE television this past Monday on Raw and told the world that his leukemia is in remission meaning he is ready to get back to work.

According to local advertising in Cleveland, Reigns will team up with his buddy Seth Rollins in a handicap match against Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin. That’s according to Quicken Loans Arena website in Cleveland. Right now, none of those guys are advertised for a match at Fastlane, so it seems very possible.

It was also noted by PWInsider that the trio of McIntyre, Lashley and Corbin using a triple Powerbomb on Braun Strowman at Elimination Chamber was not a coincidence.

The update on Reigns’ future is that he’ll be working only Raw’s on Mondays and pay-per-views until May at which point he’ll start working more house shows, which as we noted yesterday, will likely include some of WWE’s European tour in May.

As for Rollins, he has not wrestled since he won the Royal Rumble on January 27th. The next night on Raw, Rollins was hit with Brock Lesnar’s F5 repeatedly. The injury is a sore back, but it’s not that serious and Rollins is expected to be cleared any day now.

It’s possible that WWE will announce the Fastlane match on social media this weekend, but they might wait until Monday’s Raw.

The advertised lineup for Fastlane looks like this:

WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kevin Owens

Smackdown Tag Team Championships: The Usos (c) vs. Shane McMahon and The Miz

Women’s Tag Team Championships: Bayley and Sasha Banks (c) vs. Nia Jax and Tamina

Smackdown Women’s Championship: Asuka (c) vs. Mandy Rose

Here’s the video that aired on Smackdown about Roman’s return.

Analysis: The obvious storyline that this will set up is Dean Ambrose saving his Shield buddies at Fastlane to make it a six-man tag or at least a scenario where Ambrose will be there to even the odds. Since Ambrose turned on Rollins last October on the night when Reigns announced the leukemia was back, it makes sense that Reigns and Rollins wouldn’t trust Ambrose right away, so they can spend weeks with Ambrose trying to prove himself to them. Since Ambrose was turned face within the last few weeks, it’s obvious another Shield reunion is coming.

Where does all of this leave Braun Strowman? I’m not sure. I thought they were setting up a bigger tag team match with Strowman on the face side and Elias on the heel side, but I guess not.
