Update on Sami Zayn’s WWE In-Ring Return

TJR Wrestling

Sami Zayn is getting back in the ring next week during the WWE NXT tour of England. Zayn has been out of action since May after suffering a shoulder injury in a Raw match against John Cena. The tour begins on Thursday December 10 in Newcastle, England and ends with a live NXT Takeover show in London on Wednesday, December 16.

Zayn is scheduled to compete in a Triple Threat with Baron Corbin and WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor on Saturday in Sheffield, England. Other matches announced for that show include Emma vs. NXT Women’s Champion Bayley and Apollo Crews vs. Samoa Joe.

On the WWE.com listing of the NXT England events, Zayn is one of the main stars features for the shows as well. He’s likely going to wrestle at all of the shows on the tour.

Even though Zayn isn’t announced for a match at the NXT Takeover London event on December 16, he could still be in a match at that show.

During the NXT broadcast a few weeks ago, WWE aired a video about Zayn’s return although they didn’t provide a date for his return.

TJR Thoughts: I’m excited about it. I think it’s smart for WWE to not announce Zayn appearing at the NXT Takeover London event. What they could do is have Samoa Joe beat Finn Balor for the NXT Title in the main event and then have Zayn show up to confront Joe. Then you have a huge match set up right away. It would be similar to Joe confronting Kevin Owens when he debuted in NXT earlier this year, but it works.

Zayn is in my mind a lot right now because I’m starting to think about the year end awards a lot. When Zayn faced Cena on Raw in Montreal, which is Zayn’s hometown, Zayn proved that he could be a huge star on the big stage in WWE. He’s on my short list of favorite wrestlers in WWE right now.

Now let’s all dance along to his theme song. I mean…if you want to.
