Triple H Gives First Statement Since Heart Surgery

Triple H has released his first statement since undergoing a procedure following what was reported to be a recent “cardiac event.”

WWE first issued a statement on Triple H’s condition on September 8, 2021, revealing that the Executive Vice President had undergone a procedure and was expected to make a full recovery:

“Paul Levesque, a.k.a. Triple H, underwent a successful procedure last week at Yale New Haven Hospital following a cardiac event. The episode was caused by a genetic heart issue and Paul is expected to make a full recovery.”

Taking to social media, the real-life Paul Levesque gave his first statement since news of his condition had been made public. Triple H wrote:

“I’ve been blown away by the outreach and support from so many people. I’m recovering, doing well, & deeply grateful for all the love in my life. Especially grateful for @ShawnMichaels & all the Superstars & crew @WWENXT! (Steph and the girls loved the snacks!) See you soon”

Shawn Michaels and Triple H’s friendship stretches back to the beginning of The Game’s career in WWE in 1995. The two men were part of the original incarnation of D-Generation X, with the group being honoured with a WWE Hall Of Fame induction in 2019.

In recent years Michaels has been instrumental in working behind the scenes of NXT alongside Triple H and has reportedly been stepping in to help run the show during Levesque’s absence.

Triple H’s other close friend and another member of the infamous Kliq is Sean Waltman who recently discussed his friend on his Pro Wrestling 4 Life podcast. Waltman revealed the heartwarming messages the two men shared following Triple H’s surgery:

“I haven’t talked to him on the phone, but we had this running joke, Paul and I. We’d be talking forever, be on the phone for an hour or two, and finally, whenever it was time for Paul to get off the phone, he’d go, ‘Are you going to be around later?’ And he never called me later.”

“It was just, it’s time to take this home. I heard the news just like everyone else, and I just texted him, ‘Hey man, I’m glad you’re gonna be around later,’ and he just said, ‘Me too. Love you, kiddo,’ and that’s it. That’s the extent of what I know. I wasn’t gonna say, ‘Tell me what happened.’ I don’t need to know. I just need to know he’s okay (Waltman starts choking up).”
