It’s another day where a John Cena story leads the way. He’s kind of a big deal, people. There was a big announcement on Variety and also about Cena expanding his working relationship with Nickelodeon, which includes hosting the Kids Choice Awards again this year. Here’s more info from

Nickelodeon has announced that John Cena is returning to host Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards for the second time, while also breaking new ground at the network with two firsts: Cena will get into character by lending his voice to an original villain named Baron Draxum in the brand-new 2D animated series “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” premiering late 2018, and is executive producing the brand-new competition series, “Keep It Spotless,” where teams of kids go head-to-head in a battle to stay clean.

Here’s a video Cena posted announcing these projects with Nickelodeon. He’s really good at showing enthusiasm. Kids love that.

Here are some more comments from Cena from

“I’m thrilled to partner with Nickelodeon on three big projects that run the range of what kids love –slime-filled live events, awesomely cool animation and competition shows where kids take their shot at being the best.”

“It’s an honor to come back a second time to host the biggest, slimiest party of the year, the Kids’ Choice Awards. Not only do I get to be a cartoon character in the new ‘Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ series, but I get to be a villain, too. And to top it all off, I’m stepping behind the camera to executive produce Nick’s new competition series, ‘Keep It Spotless,’ which gives a whole new meaning to staying clean.”

The article also featured more info on the “Keep It Spotless” show.

“Keep It Spotless,” Nickelodeon’s new competition series, is executive produced by Cena and features kids competing in a variety of physical and paint-filled challenges designed with one goal in mind – to stay as clean as possible. After each game, a 360-degree scanner will measure each teams’ mess to determine just how spotless they really are. The winning team will face The Gauntlet, a multiple-challenge obstacle course, where they can turn their cleanliness into cold hard cash. “Keep It Spotless” is produced by ITV Entertainment and Hard Nocks South, based on a U.K. format from Possessed, and scheduled to premiere later this year.

Hard Knocks South is the gym that Cena owns in Tampa where WWE wrestlers that live in the area go to work out. Good for Cena. More opportunities for him and more money, of course. He needs more houses and cars, I guess.

Cruiserweight Title Match Added to Royal Rumble

That was expected after their Raw match ended in a countout when Enzo was selling an ankle injury.

I think this match will be on the Rumble Kickoff Show because it’s a big card already, but that’s not official yet.

Here’s the rest of the Royal Rumble lineup as we covered earlier in the week.

– Bill Goldberg is expected to headline WWE’s Hall of Fame class this April during WrestleMania weekend. The Dudley Boyz are also expected to be inducted this year. Here’s Tommy with that story.

– The official tournament brackets were announced for WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge that debuts on Tuesday next week. Here’s Tommy with all the info on the MMC.

– There’s still no update on when Paige may return to the ring, but she posted this photo of herself on Instagram with a message about coming back.

– Here’s where the Raw and Smackdown crews are headed this weekend for live events.

The Raw crew is Amarillo, TX on Friday (tonight), Wichita Falls, TX on Saturday, Waco, TX on Sunday and Monday’s Raw is in San Antonio, TX.

The Raw brand shows were supposed to have Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe vs. The Miz for the IC Title, but Joe is out with a foot injury. They’ll probably just do Reigns vs. Miz in the main events.

The Smackdown crew is in Hidalgo, TX on Saturday, they remain in Hidalgo, TX for a show on Sunday, Corpus Christi, TX hosts a live event on Monday and then Smackdown on Tuesday is in Laredo, TX.

It’s weird that they have two straight shows in Hidalgo. WWE rarely does that and it’s not even a huge market.

I’m a mark for these videos where they edit old Raw intro videos and insert current talent. Here’s the Attitude Era open. That 25 second video almost makes today’s Raw look exciting even though it’s not nearly as good as it was back then.

In honor of Raw 25, WWE put together this video of the six most bizarre backstage moments in Raw history. I remember that idiot running in front of Batista and people thought it was real. Of course it was a work, but trust me some fans like believing things are real.

Here’s a video of Mike and Maria Kanellis-Bennett finding out the gender of their baby.

Mike Sanchez wrote about how he wants to see Brock Lesnar’s run as Universal Champion end and why he thinks Lesnar doesn’t need to hold a title anymore.

– I wrote an exclusive column for The Comeback looking at WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge that starts on Tuesday. I offered predictions for every match and picked a winning team out of the 12 teams they announced for the tournament.

There’s a pretty famous on this day today because on January 12, 1992, Shawn Michaels turned heel on his Rockers partner Marty Jannetty and threw him through window in the Barber Shop. It was a brilliant angle that turned Michaels heel. Jannetty had a decent run as a face, but Michaels went onto being one of the best superstars ever while Jannetty’s career was hurt by a drug and alcohol problem.

That’s all for now. Have a good weekend. I’m going to work on a big project when I can and watch the NFL playoff games when I’m not working on that. I’ll be back on Monday for the next news update.
