The Rock Comments On Why He Thinks Drew McIntyre Can Be Next Huge WWE Superstar

TJR Wrestling

The Rock has been doing a lot of media interviews in the past week due to his new movie “Hobbs & Shaw” premiering this Friday in theatres worldwide.

The Rock was asked by TMZ who is the next big superstar that can be a major star like a Rock or John Cena. Rock picked Drew McIntyre. Here’s what Rock said:

“A lot of guys are working very hard. I spent a lot of time with Roman (Reigns), spent the past week with him and we were talking about everybody who has potential. Personally, I like Drew McIntyre – I think he’s got a great look and great build. And especially as he continues to hone in on his craft and connect with the audience, which is always the most important thing. That’s it.”

You can watch the interview here.

TJR Thoughts: That’s a good choice from The Rock because McIntyre is very skilled in the ring, but he has been hurt by the booking because he has lost a lot of matches this year even though Drew has been presented as one of the top heels in WWE. Roman Reigns wrestled and beat McIntyre easily at WrestleMania even though it would have been a huge moment for McIntyre to beat him. It would have been the biggest win of Drew’s career. Instead, he lost and he hasn’t really recovered from that.

From a physical standpoint, McIntyre has all the tools at 6’5″ and 260 pounds. He’s 34 years old, so he’s in the prime of his career with about 15 years of experience in the business. A decade ago, I would have picked McIntyre to be a no-doubt WWE Champion, yet it hasn’t happened. Maybe one day down the road it will.
