The John Report: AEW Dynamite 10/21/20 Review

Welcome to another AEW Dynamite review here on TJRWrestling. Last year was the one year Dynamite anniversary special. Looking ahead, AEW is building to the Full Gear pay-per-view on Saturday, November 7.

This is episode #55 of AEW Dynamite from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, FL. Follow me on Twitter @johnreport. Here’s my AEW Dynamite TV review archive. Let’s get to it.

The pyro went off at AEW’s home at Daily’s Place and there were shots of the crowd high up in the building. There were wrestlers surrounding the ring as usual. The announce team of Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur welcomed us to the show. The four AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament quarterfinal matches are on this episode of Dynamite.

AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament: Wardlow vs. Jungle Boy (w/Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt)

Wardlow is a bigger guy while Jungle Boy is small, so Boy was a bit reluctant to lock up with JR noting it was a 60-70 pound weight difference. Boy with a dropkick to the back, Wardlow missed a boot when Boy ducked and Boy hit a couple of dropkicks to stun the bigger man. Boy to the apron, Wardlow to the floor, Boy with a kick to the jaw, but when he attacked on the floor, Wardlow sent Boy back first into the ring post so it was like a Powerbomb into the ring post. Wardlow with a suplex into a slam two times in a row. Wardlow stomped away on the turnbuckle, Boy kicked him back and Wardlow hit Gutwrench Powerbomb for two. They did a spot that looked too choreographed fighting over a hurricanrana/slam spot, then Boy landed on his feet and Wardlow decked him with a clothesline. Boy with a knee to the face to block a move, then a forearm, boot to the chest and Boy hit an impressive missile dropkick to send Wardlow running out of the ring. That was an unnatural bump. Boy hit a suicide dive into Wardlow into the barricade. Back in the ring, Boy hit a springboard DDT for a one count to show Wardlow had power left. Wardlow did a kip-up while Boy was on the top rope and Boy managed to hit a hurricanrana. After Boy put Wardlow down again, Boy went up top and hit a double knee attack to the ribs for a two count. Wardlow was on the ramp, Boy was on the shoulders and Wardlow hit the F10 spinning slam into the ring. Wardlow hit the F10 again for the pinfall win after about nine minutes. JR repeated a few times that athletic big men sell tickets.

Winner by pinfall: Wardlow

Analysis: *** A dominant win by Wardlow while Jungle Boy sold everything well and put up a fight, but this was about putting over Wardlow. Some cool moves like the hurricanrana off the top and the F10 into the ring. It’s pretty obvious that Wardlow should be a bigger star than he is in AEW. They just don’t use him enough since this was only his 10th match in over a year of AEW shows.

A video aired from after Dynamite last night when Eddie Kingston did a promo over a knocked out Jon Moxley saying that Moxley sold out by going to the land of the entertainers. Kingston said Moxley left them behind while Moxley met his beautiful wife (hey Renee) while Kingston had pro wrestling screw him over and over again while Moxley made millions of dollars. Kingston said that he loves the sport, he dies for the sport and told the fans that none of them were there. Kingston held the World Title in Moxley’s face while saying he is going to make Moxley quit because Eddie never quit.

It’s official for AEW Full Gear on November 7: Jon Moxley defends the AEW World Title against Eddie Kingston. JR tried to explain it saying that Moxley asked for the match while noting that Moxley has beaten the guys in the top five.

Analysis: Great promo from Kingston. He’s a gifted talker, no doubt about it. What’s the point of the rankings system, then? In the past, guys at or near the top got a title shot. In this case, Kingston is 4-2 in his AEW career and one of those losses was against Moxley for the World Title. Now Kingston gets another title shot. It’s flawed logic because you tell the fans that the rankings matter and then ignore it blatantly.

(Commercial)

Jon Moxley did a seated promo saying he knows Eddie Kingston and he loved him. Moxley loved Eddie’s honesty, loyalty and integrity. Moxley said he doesn’t know this Eddie and Moxley said he’s not going to apologize for being able to buy his mother a house (thanks to WWE money) and spending thousands of days on the road running his body into the ground so he can give his family a better life than he ever had. He won’t apologize. Moxley said that it was true that Eddie didn’t tap because he had snot bubbles and passed out. Moxley said that now he’s going to beat and torture him until he gets his friend back. Then Eddie will have nobody else to blame but himself.

Analysis: That was well done by Moxley as usual. He’s great in that kind of setting when he’s able to look into the camera. The rivalry does make sense from a storyline standpoint. I just think AEW could have built up Kingston more than they have.

Kenny Omega got an entrance where Justin Roberts listed credentials: “The mega champion of AAA, PWI 500 #1 Wrestler in the World and Wrestling Observer Wrestler of the Year in 2018, Sports Illustrated’s Wrestler of the Year in 2017, he has broken the Meltzer five-star scale seven times and has both the highest-rated singles and tag team match of all time. He is so fluent in Japanese that sometimes he translates for Michael Nakazawa.” Then he listed his height, weight and introduced Omega. There were two attractive women by the entrance with brooms because he’s “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega again.

Analysis: It was an egotistical entrance to make it seem like Kenny might be going heel to become a cocky singles wrestler. This company loves the Wrestling Observer and Dave Meltzer. That’s for sure. It’s ridiculous, but I guess that’s the point in trying to get Kenny over as being an obnoxious guy.

AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament: Kenny Omega vs. Sonny Kiss

Joey Janela was originally going to face Sonny Kiss, but Joey knew somebody that tested positive for COVID-19, so they replaced Joey with Sonny. The bell rang, they shook hands, Omega charged with a running V-Trigger knee and a One-Winged Angel led to the pinfall win after about 25 seconds.

Winner: Kenny Omega

Analysis: No rating. Yes! This is the kind of booking I like to see. Let’s see some dominant wins in this company instead of always going around ten minutes so wrestlers can get their shit in. Want to make a guy look like a big threat to win the tournament? Book them like this. I love it. Sorry Sonny Kiss, who has been impressive, but it is Kenny’s time to go after the AEW World Title and that’s a good thing for the company.

Post match, Omega helped Sonny back up and raised Sonny’s hand out of respect followed by an awkward hug.

Orange Cassidy was interviewed earlier in the day by Tony Schiavone, who overrated the Cassidy match with Cody as a classic, which it was not. It was fine, though. Anyway, Cassidy said sometimes calls go your way and sometimes they don’t. Cassidy said “we’re on to Cincinnati” which is a Bill Belichick (coach of NFL’s New England Patriots) line from many years ago. Then Cassidy said “whatever” to end the worst interview in a long time. I feel dumber for reviewing it with as many words as I wrote.

Cody and Arn Anderson were interviewed in the parking lot by Dasha. Cody said he had the championship advantage and that’s why he’s still the champion. Cody said that gaining 14 pounds is something he wanted to do to become more of a heavyweight wrestler. Cody said he’s off tonight, but he’ll be an Executive Vice President and watch the show.

Eddie Kingston did a backstage promo where he was talking into the camera. Eddie said that Pentagon and Fenix are in the number one contender’s tournament and show us why they’re the best wrestlers to come out of Mexico. Eddie said that The Butcher and The Blade will win the 4-way match to go after FTR. Eddie said that Moxley is going to call his former bosses and go back to be an entertainer. Eddie said what Moxley is true. Eddie said he had to be angry, bitter and he had to become a liar because the ends justify the means. Eddie said when he wasn’t playing the game he got nothing and now he’s getting an AEW World Title match. Eddie said that he has never quit anything in his life and he won’t quit on November 7 either.

Analysis: The promos from Kingston continue to be awesome. It’s why he is where he is in the company after only being there for a few minutes. In the ring, he is pretty good too, but the promos are outstanding.

AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament: Penta El Zero M (Pentagon) vs. Rey Fenix

They are legitimately brothers with Penta as the older brother at 35 years old while Fenix is 29 years old. Eddie Kingston joined the commentary team for this match since the two wrestlers in this match are his buddies. I have seen them wrestle before in other promotions, but not in AEW.

Fenix tripped up Penta, then an arm drag, Penta went for a piledriver, Fenix held onto the ropes and they kept avoiding moves. Fenix missed a kick, Penta with a kick to the ribs and a hard kick to the head. Fenix with a rollup for two followed by each man tripping up the other guy until they both stood tall in the ring. That led to an exchange of hard chops with Penta taking off the glove on his right hand. Fenix chopped Penta back, then Penta with another hard chop to the chest, then Fenix to the apron and Fenix jumped off the top right into a superkick for two. They battled on the apron, Fenix knocked his brother down and Fenix hit the twisting splash onto a standing Penta on the floor. Back in the ring, Fenix ran the ropes, but Penta pulled the rope down causing Fenix to tumble into the ring.

(Commercial)

The match returned with Pentagon slapping the ring post when Fenix moved and then both guys were down after a superkick. They slowly got back into the ring with Fenix hitting a forearm and Penta jumped ff the middle ropes with a Slingblade for a two count. Fenix to the turnbuckle, Pentagon with a rising kick and then Fenix jumped to the top rope with a headscissors attack. That was so cool. There was a bit of a scary moment as Penta did a flipping DDT type move with Fenix not selling it as normal because it looked like he was dazed after taking that move. Penta waited for his brother to get back into it, then Penta tried a Powerbomb and Fenix hit a superkick for two. Fenix drove Penta arm first into the turnbuckle, but then Penta kicked Fenix while Rey was on the turnbuckle. They were on the top rope and Fenix hit the Spanish Fly slam into a two count. That was an awesome move that we have seen in a lot of matches, but the execution here was perfect and they got a lot of height as well. Fenix charged, Penta launched him in the air and hit a Powerbomb for one…two…no. Amazing nearfall. Penta pulled back on the right arm of Fenix with Fenix collapsing to the mat while holding his right arm. The announcers said that Penta was a big brother, not just an opponent and he was showing concern for his brother. Penta ran the ropes, Fenix caught him and hit a Destroyer for the pinfall win after 14 minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Rey Fenix

Analysis: **** This was awesome. Fenix is such an incredible performer that can do it all and makes it look easy while Penta kept up with his brother. I think if you watch AEW regularly then you know Fenix is as good as anybody in the air that’s in the business right now and as good as any high flyer there’s ever been. A regular Destroyer doesn’t always win matches in AEW because so many wrestlers use it as a nearfall spot, but I like seeing it win a match because it’s a big move that should be a finisher. I think if they had some more nearfall moments and maybe did some more moves out to the floor it would have been an even better match. It’s still a four-star match on cable TV, so that’s pretty nice to see.

That means Rey Fenix faces Kenny Omega in the tournament next week at least in theory. Next week’s show was taped on Thursday and there was a change due to injury to Fenix.

A video aired about Best Friends (specifically Trent) running into the arcade game to break it and that led to Miro/Kip Sabian being mad about it. Miro and Sabian were mad about it.

Analysis: They paid Miro all that money to sign with AEW to have a video game feud. Strange.

(Commercial)

There were backstage interviews with Alex Reynolds, John Silver and Colt Cabana of the Dark Order. They were confident in winning their matches. Colt said he felt no pressure. Silver said that he didn’t like Colt, but he’ll be the next AEW Champion while Alex and John will be Tag Team Champions and Brodie Lee will get the TNT Championship. Silver did some flexing while doing a “Brodie” chant.

Colt Cabana made his entrance with Evil Uno joining him. “Hangman” Adam Page got a nice pop.

AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament: “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Colt Cabana (w/Evil Uno)

They kept doing moves with counters in the first minute, Page got a clothesline, Cabana with an elbow and Page hit a boot followed by a standing SSP for a two count. Page with a forearm, then Cabana was sent out of the ring and Page hit a slingshot attack over the top onto Cabana on the floor. That led to a two count in the ring.

(Commercial)

The match returned with an exchange of strikes, Cabana wanted a powerslam, but Page powered out of it and hit a fallaway slam. Page ran right into an elbow to the head. Cabana with a headscissors takedown. Cabana with punches, elbow strike to the head, Cabana off the ropes, he went under Page’s legs and got a rollup sitting on top for two. Page caught Cabana in midair and Page hit a bridging German Suplex for two. Page knocked Cabana off the apron, then Page went to the turnbuckle and Cabana knocked Page off the turnbuckle to the floor. That looked like a rough bump. Cabana hit a splash off the apron on the floor. Back in the ring, Cabana missed a splash off the top and Page hit a Powerbomb for two. Cabana blocked a kick leading to a slam on the apron. Cabana went for a move off the middle ropes, Page avoided it, Cabana hit the Superman pin and that got a two count. Page to the apron, then Cabana was nice enough to step forward and Page hit the Buckshot Lariat for the pinfall win after 11 minutes.

Winner by pinfall: “Hangman” Adam Page

Analysis: **3/4 This was okay with an outcome that was obvious since Page is likely a finalist in this tournament. I would have rather seen Page win in a more decisive manner around seven minutes instead of going ten minutes. It’s not like Cabana is going to get a serious push here, so he doesn’t need to be protected. Page is fun to watch with a lot of believable moves in his arsenal and a strong finisher.

The win by Page means he will face Wardlow in the semifinals next week.

Some of the Dark Order guys went into the ring to pick up Cabana and get him out of there.

There was a video package with Sammy Guevara looking over Matt Hardy pictures in a room and saying this isn’t over until he sends Matt home for good.

Team Taz members Brian Cage and Ricky Starks were on the stage with Taz doing a promo. Taz invited Will Hobbs to join the group, but they have yet to hear from him and warned Hobbs that Taz will stick Cage on him. Taz complained about Darby Allin getting the TNT Title shot at Full Gear. Taz noted that when he saw AEW’s boss Tony Khan earlier in the day, he was told Ricky Starks would have got the title shot instead of Darby Allin. Taz complained about it. Starks said that somebody has to pay for Allin getting another title shot and said Darby is going to pay. Starks said that when he meets Allin again, he’s putting him in the grave and called him a “half face painted little bitch.”

Analysis: This company has a lot of heels that get promo time to complain about things. It’s what they do. It gets repetitive after a while. Good energy shown by Starks there.

Le Dinner Debonair with Chris Jericho and MJF

Chris Jericho and Maxwell Jacob Friedman were dressed in suits (MJF had the scarf of course) at a restaurant for a steak dinner. MJF asked for a well-done steak while Jericho wanted his steak to be medium-well. MJF changed his mind so his steak will be medium. Jericho wanted his steak to be medium rare and then MJF asked for his steak to be rare. Jericho asked for his steak to be extra bloody rare. They were very competitive. Jericho wondered what they were doing here. MJF said that they are the biggest stars in professional wrestling. Jericho mocked MJF for the nickname as the “Ratings Ruler” name and said it has about as much chance of getting over as…Orange Cassidy. They laughed. MJF asked Chris to picture them together.

That led to a musical number featuring both guys singing a song as if it was a Broadway musical. I’m not going to summarize the dialogue of the song and I have no interest in knowing where it’s from. I’m not a musical guy. Anyway, they got into a dance routine with some dancers as well. MJF sang a line about how you’ll need a large crowbar to break them apart, which is not a literal thing, but more of an example of how they are close. They stopped, then MJF wanted to do more, they trashed Young Bucks and Moxley and then finished the song over by their table. The fans in the arena cheered. Their steaks were brought out to the table looking very rare and they decided to send the steaks back. That was the end of that.

Analysis: This was different and unlike anything I’ve ever seen on a wrestling show before. Some people loved it. Others probably hated it. I’m somewhere in the middle leaning towards liking it because it was different, it was funny and I was entertained by it. I also think some fans that really love AEW while not liking the competition would probably love this while trashing it if it was on another show because that’s the way some people are. It’s not really something that I’m going to remember as a legendary thing or anything like that, but I’m sure will try to put it over as some all-time great segment even though it wasn’t. Chris is one of my favorites ever, but it’s like the Orange Cassidy feud – it was fine, but it wasn’t some epic rivalry although Chris will say it is and the Mimosa Mayhem was a disappointment as a blowoff match. Anyway, kudos to them for being creative. They did a good job of signing since MJF has a background in singing and Jericho is a musician as well. I’d rather see MJF in the ring since he has only wrestled on Dynamite once in the last three months and it was a squash match. MJF is a future top guy in this company, but he needs to be in the ring more. Jericho wrestling less makes sense although I hope there aren’t more musicals any time soon. Once is enough for me.

Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. (w/Reba) vs. Kilynn King

I have never seen a first name like King’s. There was a trip from King. Baker wit ha fireman’s carry into a submission attempt with Tony calling Baker a “domineering bitch” in a way that felt random, but that’s the storyline. Baker stomped on King’s back to send her into the mat. Baker with knees to the ribs and then a trip into a slam that sent King face-first into the mat. Baker slammed King face first into the middle turnbuckle. Baker with a kick on the apron while King was on the floor. Baker stares at the hard camera well, so at least she’s got that part down. King with a roundhouse kick. Baker came back with a DDT and a Fisherman’s neckbreaker along with a Curb Stomp. Baker got the pink surgical glove from Reba and the Lockjaw submission was applied for the submission win after about four minutes.

Winner by submission: Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.

Analysis: *1/2 An easy win for Baker against a non-contracted wrestler. It’s the AEW women’s division, so it’s a short match with no storyline. The lack of effort they put into women’s wrestling stories in AEW is bad. There was a point where the announcers talked about Baker being in AEW’s rankings in the women’s division even though she didn’t wrestle for months. It’s because the division is booked terribly with Baker as the only actual character in the division. They don’t want to say it, but I will. I want the women’s division to be better. That’s why I call it out for being poorly booked. Get the title on Baker soon, please.

Next week on AEW Dynamite:

* World Title Eliminator Tournament: “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Wardlow

* World Title Eliminator Tournament: Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fenix

* Tay Conti vs. Abadon. That will be short.

* TNT Championship Lumberjack Match: Cody vs. Orange Cassidy

* Town Hall Meeting to decide if MJF will join The Inner Circle.

I am writing this on Friday morning. They taped next week’s show on Thursday night and as I noted earlier, the Omega/Fenix match was changed. The next live show is November 4.

There was a video with Steve-O from Jackass with Darby Allin. Darby was in a body bag and rolled down a skateboard ramp. What a dumbass.

The entrances took place for the main event with The Butcher and The Blade joined by The Bunny, who is The Blade’s wife. The Bunny’s angle with QT Marshall ended on the Dark show after months of being paired together. Why not do a bigger angle? I guess they don’t care, so why should the fans? Private Party was next with mentor Matt Hardy. The Dark Order jobber team of Alex “3” Reynolds and John “4” Silver, who are apparently 1-5 in 2020, yet the graphic says they have “Won 5 of Past 7 Matches Teaming Together.” Probably some inside joke that I don’t get. Anyway, even though they are losers, they are in a match where they are one win away from a title shot. Tony suggested maybe the Dark Order will win here. Nobody believes that, Tony. Anyway, AEW Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) joined commentary for this match.

(Commercial)

The Young Bucks were last to enter because the Executive VPs get special entrances like that.

The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) vs. Dark Order’s Alex Reynolds and John Silver vs. The Butcher & The Blade (w/The Bunny) vs. Private Party (Marq Quen & Isaiah Kassidy) (w/Matt Hardy)

The winners get to face FTR for the Tag Team Titles at Full Gear. Two guys are legal while the other six guys are on the apron.

Young Bucks did some effective tag team moves as they took out Butcher and Blade. Kassidy with a step up headscissors, which Nick no sold, double kip up and Matt tagged in as the two teams had a face off. Private Party hit superkicks on Young Bucks at the same time. All eight guys went into the ring to get into a brawl and Butcher & Blade hit a double team slam on Kassidy. Blade tagged in against Matt, Quen tagged in and hit an atomic drop along with a dropkick. Quen cleaned house so he was the only one in the ring and on the apron. Quen with a suicide dive on one side of the ring, a leap over the top on the other side of the ring and Quen jumped off the top with a dive onto Reynolds on the floor. Harwood had a funny line saying he should just punch a guy in the face instead of jumping off the top. Quen with a slam on Blade and a Shooting Star Press off the top got a two count. Butcher slammed Quen. Blade worked over Quen some more as they went to picture in picture.

(Commercial – Sammy Guevara showed up to brawl with Matt Hardy and they went fighting to the back.)

The show returned with Quen and Silver as the two legal men while the other guys were not on the apron. Silver kicked Quen, Silver with an attack on multiple guys on the floor and a leap over the barricade on two guys on the floor. Silver was on fire with JR saying he was jacked up on Mountain Dew. Silver jumped off the top, missed an attack and Reynolds/Silver hit a combo of moves including a Stunner into a German Suplex for two. Kassidy got the tag and hit the silly string tag team move into a DDT for a two count. Kassidy and Quen jumped off the top from opposite sides of the ring with Kassidy hitting a leg drop to the head while Quen hit a regular splash to the body. The bad thing about that is the leg of Kassidy hit Reynolds in the head and Reynolds was legitimately hurt by it. Reynolds looked like he was knocked out. Young Bucks made the save. Reynolds wasn’t moving in there, so Blade dragged him in the corner to tag out. The referee didn’t check on Reynolds. Nobody was checking on Reynolds. Butcher and Blade hit some move while I was looking at Reynolds, who was motionless on the mat. Nick tagged himself in, Reynolds stumbled back up, he was barely able to stand, Nick hit him with a knee and Nick did a clothesline/bulldog company. Nick with some running kicks on Private Party on the floor, Nick jumped off the top and hit a moonsault onto Butcher/Blade on the floor. Young Bucks hit a double superkick on Butcher and held Kassidy over Butcher as Nick hit a dropkick into senton splash while Matt hit a piledriver on Kassidy for a two count with Silver and Blade breaking up the pin. Kassidy got an inside cradle on Matt for two. Matt missed a charging attack, Kassidy tried to tag out, but Quen was pulled off the apron and Nick pulled Silver off the apron, so Kassidy couldn’t tag out. Kassidy countered a Matt move into a seated pin attempt for two, which is how Private Party beat them last year and then Matt countered so that he sat on top of Kassidy for the pinfall win after 14 minutes.

Winners by pinfall: The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)

Analysis: ***1/2 Good action here. Of course they didn’t follow the rules very much, but that’s to be expected in AEW at this point. At least in a 4-way match you can say there are no disqualifications and no countouts, so following the rules is optional. Young Bucks winning was the right call especially considering the other three teams in the match really aren’t top AEW teams. I liked the finish a lot. It was sad to see how nobody seemed to care about Reynolds looking like he was out of it. There’s a doctor at ringside that should have checked on the guy. The referee barely even thought to check on him. If a guy is hurt in the ring, get him out of there and don’t have him do spots after he might have a serious concussion. I know it’s two days later with Reynolds apparently doing fine, but that was scary to watch a guy that’s out in the ring for two minutes with nobody checking on him. Anyway, Reynolds ended up okay and Young Bucks won to earn the next title shot.

The winner means that Young Bucks will challenge FTR for that AEW Tag Team Titles at Full Gear on Saturday, November 7.

The FTR duo of Harwood and Wheeler went into the ring with Young Bucks. FTR had beers, but Young Bucks slapped them out of their hands. Somebody with a face covering hit Matt in the back with a chair. FTR beat up Nick with punches while the announcers wondered who it was that did the attack. FTR held up Nick for a double team Spike Piledriver on Nick with the masked man helping them. FTR put a chair on the left leg of Matt Jackson and Cash jumped onto chair on Matt’s ankle, so Matt will be selling a left leg injury when they have the match. The masked guy was FTR manager Tully Blanchard, of course.

Analysis: I really liked this as an old school, heel beatdown with a bit of mystery with Tully involved. Good job by Tully moving around pretty well for an older guy too. It was a good way to get some heat on FTR as the heel team and to make sure the Young Bucks were thought of as the babyfaces in this match they are going to have at Full Gear. They’ll be able to tell the story of Matt selling the left leg injury as well. I expect FTR to retain the titles at Full Gear in what should be an outstanding match. I’m excited about it.

As for Alex Reynolds, he says he is doing fine, so that’s great to see. Click on the image to read the message where he thanked the referee and doctor for checking on him.

Final Thoughts

I thought it was a very good show and better than last week’s anniversary episode. The Fenix/Pentagon match was outstanding while the four way tag team main event match was pretty good. Some of the other matches were solid although I still feel bad for the women’s division getting very little attention in this company. The signing routine by Chris Jericho and MJF might be what people talked about the most on the show, but to me it’s not like that was the best thing on this episode. The Fenix/Pentagon match was the best part of it, at least to me.

This show also did a nice job of building up to some of the top Full Gear matches like Moxley vs. Kingston and setting up FTR vs. Young Bucks for the first time. I think the Full Gear lineup is strong.

The next AEW PPV is Full Gear on Saturday, November 7. Here’s what we know so far.

AEW World Championship “I Quit” Match: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Eddie Kingston

AEW Tag Team Championships: FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)

AEW TNT Championships: Cody (c) vs. Darby Allin

Cody defends the AEW TNT Title against Orange Cassidy in a Lumberjack Match on Dynamite next week. The winner of that match will go on to face Darby Allin at Full Gear.

AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament Finals

The semifinals are on next week’s Dynamite with Kenny Omega facing Rey Fenix and Wardlow is against “Hangman” Adam Page. The winners of those two matches meet at Full Gear with the winner of that match getting an AEW World Title Match at some point after Full Gear.

Elite Deletion Match: Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara
