TJRWrestling WWE NXT No Mercy 2025 Preview

WWE NXT No Mercy Preview 2025

It’s WWE NXT No Mercy, featuring Oba Femi against Ricky Saints, a Jordynne Grace-Blake Monroe Weaponized Steel Cage Match, and more.

The No Mercy name is back for WWE as a former main roster PLE, and many of us may remember it as a great video game about 25 years ago. It’s a show that won’t be going against any other major wrestling shows on Saturday night, so at least that’s a good thing for NXT and for my sanity.

It feels like a solid card overall, but I feel like the NXT brand isn’t hot right now. The last WWE NXT episode saw the TNA roster “invade” NXT, so it could be the start of a new era for NXT where they are in more of a rivalry with TNA instead of everybody working together without issue. There’s a TNA PLE on Friday and a taping on Saturday in Edmonton while this show is in Fort Lauderdale, so I doubt there’s much of a TNA presence on this show.

You can watch NXT No Mercy on Saturday, September 27, at 7 ET/4 PT, exclusively on Peacock in the United States and on Netflix internationally, for many of us, including me in Canada. These NXT PLE shows usually go 2.5 hours or sometimes up to 3 hours.

Je’Von Evans vs. Josh Briggs

I think this should be a win for Je’Von Evans, who was challenging for the NXT Title at the last PLE, nearly won it and came up short. I felt like after that match, it would be Evans who takes the NXT Title from Oba Femi and I still feel that. Perhaps it will happen next month at Halloween Havoc, which may be seen as a bigger PLE than No Mercy.

As for Briggs, I think he’s doing a good job as a heel. It seems like it’s a more natural role for him. Briggs can pull off the bigger, meaner, badass type of heel act that will try to bully a smaller guy like Evans, but I think Evans will win what should be a good match.

Winner: Je’Von Evans

Women’s Speed Championship: Sol Ruca (c) vs. Lainey Reid

There’s a five-minute time limit for this match that is for the Women’s Speed Championship, and it is Reid’s first time in a PLE match. I don’t know why WWE feels the need to keep the Speed Title since it’s not a big deal, but here we are. I’ll go with Sol to retain.

Winner: Sol Ruca

Weaponized Steel Cage Match: Jordynne Grace vs. Blake Monroe

There aren’t many “Weaponized Steel Cage” matches in pro wrestling, but here we are. The idea is that these women hate eachother so much that they need to be confined inside a steel cage and they need to get their hands on weapons to try to settle the score.

At Heatwave, Blake got the win and I thought that would happen since it was her first singles PLE match. Now that we are getting a rematch, I think that the babyface Grace will win because Blake turned on her, so having the babyface Grace win makes sense for the story. Both women are future NXT Women’s Champions over the next year, but I think as far as a winner goes in this match, Grace should win. I expect it to be one of the better matches on the show.

Winner: Jordynne Grace

NXT North American Championship: Ethan Page (c) vs. Tavion Heights

I have been writing for weeks now that the right thing to do with Page’s NXT North American Title is for a younger wrestler to beat him so that the wrestler is elevated. Tavion Heights fits that younger guy status in terms of somebody who should beat Page. While I think it’s a possibility, I also feel like Tavion’s former NQCC teammate, Myles Borne, may be better suited as the guy to beat my fellow Canadian Page.

My feeling is they’ll have the kind of match that will be even most of the way. Heights will come close to winning multiple times, but the heel Page will find a way to cheat to retain. A title change is absolutely possible. However, I’m going with a Page win. I also think Page should be on the main roster any time now, so I’d be all for a loss if it led to that happening for Page.

Winner: Ethan Page

NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne (c) vs. Lola Vice

When Lola Vice won the match to become the number one contender, I didn’t necessarily think that she would be the next champion. In the weeks building up to this match, they have shown video packages about her journey to WWE, the way her parents helped her a lot, the support of her siblings, and so on. I don’t think you do all that stuff, give a woman a title shot close to her hometown and then have her lose, right? That’s why I’m going with a Lola Vice win.

I think Jacy Jayne (and her Fatal Influence teammate Fallon Henley) is more than ready for the main roster, so losing the NXT Women’s Title wouldn’t hurt her too much. It’s time to move on from NXT, I think. Vice has improved a lot in NXT over the last couple of years, and I believe she’s going to be the NXT Women’s Champion at No Mercy.

Winner AND NEW NXT Women’s Champion: Lola Vice

NXT Championship: Oba Femi (c) vs. Ricky Saints

This will be the best match, or one of the best matches. Oba Femi always delivers in PLE matches, while Ricky Saints is a popular guy who has been built up well as a challenger. As I have mentioned in my review, Ricky lost the NXT North American Title feud to Ethan Page, yet Ricky essentially jumped over Page and got to become the NXT Title challenger. That booking is a bit weird, but at least Ricky got by Briggs to earn the title shot.

I think the NXT Title reign of Oba Femi is going to continue. As I mentioned earlier, Je’Von Evans is my pick to dethrone him. Is Saints a future NXT Champion? Possibly. He might even win it here. I just think it makes more sense for Evans to be the guy to end Femi’s reign, and it would also be a bigger moment if it were Evans in that spot. That’s just my feeling anyway. It should be a fun match between two faces. I’ll go with the champ to retain.

Winner: Oba Femi

BONUS TOPICS FOR WWE NXT NO MERCY

The Match I’m Looking Forward To The Most

Oba Femi vs. Ricky Saints

The Match I Care About The Least

Sol Ruca vs. Lainey Reid. I don’t find the Speed matches to be that interesting.

Longest Match

Oba Femi vs. Ricky Saints around 20 minutes.

Shortest Match

The Speed Match at 5 minutes is the obvious answer. For a second choice, I’d go with Page-Heights around 12 minutes.

Excitement Level on a Scale of 1-10 (1 being low, 10 being high)

It’s about a 7 out of 10. That’s what I have put for most NXT PLE’s this year. Everybody will work hard, and I think the lineup is okay, but I wouldn’t say it’s as strong as an NXT card when the brand was at its absolute best. I still look forward to the show, and I’d love to be surprised and see them have an 8/10 type show.

I’ll be back with a review of the WWE NXT No Mercy on TJRWrestling.net on Saturday. You can also tweet me on X/Twitter at @johnreport as well.
