The John Report: WWE NXT 06/10/25 Review

WWE NXT June 10 Review

This week’s WWE NXT featured Oba Femi and Ethan Page defending their titles against newcomers.

They are at the WWE Performance Centre in Orlando for this week’s show. Follow me on Twitter @johnreport, and check out my NXT TV review archive.

I’ll go play-by-play for one or two matches and summary style for the rest of the show. Let’s get to it.

A video package aired, showcasing highlights of last week’s show, which included Trick Williams defeating Mike Santana to retain the TNA World Title, and the debut of Mariah May, who will be adopting a new name.

There was some pre-show walking shown of Tony D’Angelo and Luca Crusifino. Oba Femi was shown in the parking lot where he was attacked by Jasper Troy. Troy knocked Femi down to the floor and then gave Femi a Chokeslam onto the hood of a car, which smashed a part of the windshield. Ouch.

Analysis: A cheap attack by Troy to weaken Femi ahead of their match. It gets heat on Troy and makes Femi look vulnerable.

The commentary team was Vic Joseph, Booker T and Corey Graves as usual.

NXT North American Championship: Ethan Page vs. Sean Legacy

Ethan Page had a successful NXT North American Title defense at Worlds Collide on Saturday in LA. It was an awesome 4-way match with Je’Von Evans, Rey Fenix and Laredo Kid, who Page beat with Twisted Grin. Awesome show.

Legacy is an Evolve guy who has picked up some wins since appearing NXT. There was an impressive flurry of speed from Legacy as he stomped on Page’s back and dropkicked Page out of the ring. They went to a break for some fans as the action continued. Page took over as he hit a jumping knee smash while they were near the ropes.

The match returned from the break as Page hit a boot to the face. Legacy hit an impressive springboard dropkick. Legacy delivered a boot to the face that didn’t connect with Page, and then Legacy hit a German Suplex. Legacy hit a running kick for two. Page shoved Legacy into the turnbuckle and hit a kick to the head. Legacy hit a spinning sitout suplex for two. Page gave Legacy a backbreaker onto the top turnbuckle. Ouch. Legacy managed to send Page into the ring post and Legacy hit a somersault dive over the top onto Page on the floor. Page avoided a 450 Splash. Page hit Twisted Grin for the pinfall win. It went about 12 minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Ethan Page

Analysis: ***1/4 A very good match where it looked like Legacy might get the upset, but I didn’t think it was going to happen. We often see those kinds of finishes, where a guy goes for a big move off the top rope, misses, and then the other guy hits a finisher for the win. That works well as a finishing spot. Page is one of the best in NXT, while Legacy is an impressive athlete who knows how to work well as a babyface.

After the match, Ricky Saints attacked Page with punches. Ricky clotheslined Page out of the ring, and they went fighting to the back.

Analysis: There were rumors that Ricky Saints lost the NXT North American Title to Ethan Page because Ricky is going to the main roster. The main roster for Ricky will likely happen soon, but based on that attack, it appears the feud will continue.

The NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne and Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx spoke to NXT GM Ava backstage. Jacy wasn’t happy about Ava refusing to tell her about the new signee. Lainey Reid walked in and slapped Jayne in the face. Reid said she was ready for her. Jayne said it wouldn’t work. Reid slapped Jayne in the head again. Ava got Reid out of there. Jayne said to give her Reid tonight, and Jayne will put her title on the line against that little bitch. Ava approved it.

Analysis: They are really trying to feature new people all the time in NXT, so Reid is being put in the spotlight already.

There was an earlier today video on Sol Ruca’s TikTok where Sol and Zaria were filming a video in the women’s locker room. In the background, Lash Legend got into an argument with Wren Sinclair and Kelani Jordan.

The Culling was featured in a segment earlier in the day. Izzi Dame explained why Brooks Jensen didn’t fit in the group, claiming that Brooks didn’t dress like them and was often doing his own thing. Shawn Spears and Niko Vance thanked Izzi for removing Brooks from the group. At the end of the video, Izzi said she had her eye on something.

Josh Briggs & Yoshiki Inamura vs. The Culling – Shawn Spears & Niko Vance (w/Izzi Dame)

There was a shot of AAA’s Psycho Clown and Octagon Jr. at ringside.

Inamura hit an impressive hit a running shoulder tackle on Vance. Inamura destroyed Spears with some hard chops to the chest. Briggs hit an impressive backbreaker. Dame teased hitting Briggs with a chair, so Niko hit a clothesline to the back to knock Briggs down. Inamura was back in with some power moves, including chops and a running splash. Briggs hit a sidewalk slam and splash on Vance as the two legal men in the match. Briggs went up top, Spears tripped him up and Vance hit a reverse powerslam on Briggs for the pinfall win. It went about five minutes.

Winners by pinfall: The Culling – Shawn Spears & Niko Vance

Analysis: ** A solid match to put over The Culling as a heel duo that could become contenders for the NXT Tag Team Titles if they can pick up some more wins. It was an impressive power move by Vance to get the win for his team. The team of Briggs and Inamura tends to lose more than they win, even though they look like tough guys.

Up next is “The Glamour” (fka Mariah May) with her new name.

Ricky Saints was with NXT GM Ava in her office. Ricky had tape on his throat and couldn’t talk. Ava told Ricky to let her handle this, and she said she didn’t want to see him until he’s medically cleared.

Sarah Schreiber provided an update stating that the NXT Medical team is still checking on Oba Femi, and the match is still scheduled to take place.

Chase U’s Andre Chase spoke to Kale Dixon and Urijah Connors. Chase told them to follow the rules and listen to him instead of putting them in matches. Kale and Urijah said that they were in. Chase said it was time to go to class.

The Glamour Has Arrived In NXT

A video aired about “The Glamour” getting out of the bathtub, and she picked an outfit to wear. She’s beauty, she’s grace and will probably punch you in the face. It referred to her as “The Glamour” in the video. The Glamour is…Blake Monroe. After the video, Booker T was especially excited about it.

Analysis: Welcome Blake Monroe to NXT. It’s a different name, but we’ll get used to it. The Monroe comes from the iconic beauty Marilyn Monroe, which makes sense for a beautiful woman like her, and Blake is her niece’s name (Monroe posted a pic with her after fans figured it out), so it likely means a lot to Monroe/May. If the wrestler is happy with the name, then I’m happy with the name. I don’t really complain about that sort of thing, but I understand people go on social media to complain about things because they have no life, which is their right, I guess. I have many more important things in my life that I’d rather focus on instead of whining about a wrestler’s name. We’ll get used to it. As a performer, I know Blake will be great and I’m excited about her future.

Lash Legend made her entrance for singles action.

(Commercial)

Wren Sinclair vs. Lash Legend

Kelani Jordan was on commentary for this match. Wren used some technical wrestling skills to apply an armbar. Lash broke free and hit a pump kick to the face. Lash applied a bearhug, Wren broke free and hit a headscissors. Wren hit a DDT, while Lash rolled out of the ring. Back in the ring, Wren went up top, she jumped onto Lash, who caught Wren and Lash hit a spinning slam on Wren for the pinfall win. It lasted about four minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Lash Legend

Analysis: ** The spinning slam by Legend didn’t look that smooth, but they got through it, and Wren sold it. I can see Lash getting a singles push in the second half of this year and winning the NXT Women’s Title or NXT Women’s North American Title at some point.

A video aired about the “Southern Sensation” Lainey Reid. She talked about being a rodeo champion and a record-breaking track athlete. Reid said she saw an opportunity, so she took it. Reid said that Jacy Jayne is the most beatable champion in WWE, and she’ll show the world.

(Commercial)

Jasper Troy was interviewed by Sarah Schreiber, who asked if he was worried that Oba Femi wasn’t going to be able to compete. Troy said that Femi may be hurting, but he’s a warrior and a beast and as long as he’s breathing, he knows Femi will be out there defending his championship. Troy said he’s counting on it.

NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne (w/Fallon Henley & Jazmyn Nyx) vs. Lainey Reid

Reid got a rollup for two. Reid hit a kick and got another rollup for a two count. Reid hit a springboard cross body block for two. Jayne hit a knee to the face, followed by a clothesline. Jayne hit two running senton splashes. Reid ran the ropes, so Jayne hit her with a superkick. Jayne did a slingshot move to send Jayne throat first into the middle rope. They went to a break for some fans as Jayne remained in control for most of the next three minutes. Reid did get an inside cradle for two, but Jayne hit a jumping neckbreaker for a two count. Jayne grabbed Reid in a chinlock, and the referee was telling them when the match returned from the break for some fans.

Jayne sent Reid into the turnbuckle and put her foot against Reid’s throat. Reid dropkicked Jayne into the turnbuckle and Jayne took a good bump off that. Reid kicked Jayne away, but Jayne stomped onto the bottom rope, which hit Reid in the throat. Jayne hit a jumping kick while setting up for a superplex, but Reid headbutted Jayne down. Reid hit Blockbuster off the middle turnbuckle and both wrestlers were down selling. Reid didn’t hit it perfectly, but it was effective enough. Reid hit two shoulder tackles, an atomic drop and a Russian legsweep. Reid hit a running uppercut and twisting suplex/neckbreaker for a two count. Jayne hit a running hurricanrana. Reid avoided a knee and Reid hit a jumping knee smash for a two count. That was a good nearfall, with the announcers and fans thinking that was it. Reid got a rollup for two. Reid for a move off the ropes, Henley shouted to distract, so Reid looked at her, and Jayne tripped Reid up on the ropes. Jayne hit a spinning Rolling Encore (elbow smash) for the pinfall win after 10 minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Jacy Jayne

Analysis: *** A good match with the champ Jayne retaining as expected. I liked the aggressiveness of Jayne, and I’m not shocked that the distraction by Henley helped Jayne get the win. It was a nice showing for Reid, even in defeat. You can tell she has a lot of potential, like so many talented young women on the NXT brand. It’s easy to see how athletic Reid is and she has a bright future.

The NXT GM Ava appeared on the podium in the back of the building. Ava said she’ll decide who Jayne’s next opponent is. Ava said that next week, there will be four singles matches, and whoever advances will move on to a Fatal 4-Way match on June 24th. Whoever wins will face Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship at Evolution on July 13. The building was full of NXT women’s wrestlers, who stared at Jayne from a distance. Jayne was hugging her title as if to say she would not lose it to any of those women.

Analysis: The NXT brand sometimes has people get title shots randomly, as Reid did, but for the most part, they do an excellent job of having wrestlers earn title shots. This mini-tournament will have eight women competing for the number one contender’s spot in five matches. I like that a lot.

A clip aired of Cody Rhodes’ “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast with Damian Priest as a guest. They showed Priest talking about how he’s a fan of the late, great Scott Hall, and Scott gave him permission to do the Razor’s Edge. I like Cody’s podcast, and I’ll watch this one as well. Anyway, it’s available on YouTube and other platforms where you can find podcasts.

Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura were in the locker room. Briggs was mad about losing. AJ Francis and KC Navarro interrupted. They are First Class from TNA. They mocked Briggs for the loss. Navarro said those NXT Tag Team Titles will look good on them. Inamura said Francis is annoying. Francis said he used to be here before Inamura was ever wrestling in NOAH and now Francis is back to take over this locker room. Elijah walked in with his guitar to trash talk them. Navarro said they’ll go talk to the TNA Champion right now.

Analysis: This was done to set up a six-man tag team match for next week. Francis is better in TNA than he ever was in WWE as Top Dolla.

Luca Crusifino was shown ending a phone call. Tony D’Angelo asked him who was that and Luca said he was taking care of business. Luca said he’ll prove that Tony can trust him. Tony insisted that Luca walk in front of him because Tony is worried about getting stabbed in the back again.

(Commercial)

Myles Borne was backstage with Tavion Heights, Charlie Dempsey, and Wren Sinclair. Dempsey wished Borne good luck now that he was free from the No Quarter Catch Crew. Borne said he learned a lot. Je’Von Evans congratulated Borne for it. Heights said he wanted to take his shot. Dempsey said he’s not ready to give Heights a shot. Evans encouraged Dempsey to give Heights a shot. Dempsey wondered why Evans was there. Dempsey refused to give Heights a shot and said that it was the three of them in a group, and Dempsey left. Wren told Heights that she’ll talk to Charlie about it.

A video package aired about the WWE-AAA Worlds Collide event from last Saturday in Los Angeles. It was an awesome show that I enjoyed a lot.

They showed AAA’s Mr. Iguana and El Hijo Del Dr. Wagner Jr. at ringside.

The High Ryze – Tyson Dupon and Tyriek Igwe (w/Wes Lee) vs. Tony D’Angelo and Luca Crusifino

Luca hit a jumping knee smash and Tony didn’t want to tag in because he told Luca he’s got it. Luca grabbed an armbar on Tyson, and Tony tagged in while telling Luca to leave the ring. Tony worked over Tyriek and wanted to tag him in, but Luca was on the floor, getting distracted by Wes. Luca got the tag and hit some clotheslines to take control. Luca cleared the ring, so Tony gave Luca a hiptoss over the top onto High Ryze on the floor. They went to a break for some fans as the action continued. High Ryze was in control of Luca for most of the break.

High Ryze remained in control of Luca, who hit a knee smash to break free. Tony got the hot tag with belly to belly slams and a huge spinebuster on Tyriek. Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo showed up with a crowbar, so Tony slammed him in the ring. Stacks ran away and Luca held the crowbar while standing behind Tony. Luca said he was just picking it up, while Tony said he knew Luca was against him. Tyriek punched Tony into Luca, who bumped to the floor. High Ryze hit their belly-to-back/elbow smash double team move and Tyson pinned Tony for the win. It went about 10 minutes.

Winners by pinfall: The High Ryze – Tyson Dupon and Tyriek Igwe

Analysis: *** It was good tag team action while continuing the story that Tony D is having trust issues with Luca because of Stacks turning on Tony in the past. The High Ryze boys have improved a lot as heels, focusing on their power, and they have built chemistry as a team. Stacks getting involved cost Tony’s team, which is the finish I expected.

TNA World Champion Trick Williams was interviewed by Sarah Schreiber. Trick said they try to say great when they know that he is. Trick said he didn’t care what anybody had to say. Trick talked trash about beating Mike Santana on NXT and Elijah at TNA Against All Odds. Trick said ever since he’s been to Hollywood, he’s been riding in First Class. Trick mentioned the six-man tag team match next week. Trick said they’ll “dogwalk their asses,” and Trick called himself “Tricky Two Brands” as he ended the promo.

It was main event time as Jasper Troy and NXT Champion Oba Femi were shown walking backstage.

A commercial aired for NXT Great American Bash on Saturday, July 12th, at 3pm ET. That is against AEW All In Texas. I’ll probably review AEW All In Texas live that day. There is a WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event special that night. Evolution is on July 13th. I am going to be writing A LOT on those days.

(Commercial)

Next week on NXT:

* Blake Monroe signs her NXT contract.

* Four WWE Evolution Elimination Matches will take place: Lash Legend vs. Kelani Jordan, Zaria vs. Izzi Dame, Thea Hail vs. Jaida Parker and Lola Vice vs. Jordynne Grace.

Analysis: Those are tough matches to pick. I’ll go with Lash, Zaria, Parker, and Grace as the winners.

* Elijah, Josh Briggs & Yoshiki Inamura vs. Trick Williams, AJ Francis & KC Navarro

The powerhouse rookie monster Jasper Troy made his entrance with a chain around his neck and chains in his hands. The NXT Champion Oba Femi was next with tape on his ribs and right arm to sell the attack that Troy did to Femi earlier on the car. Femi is 23-2 since April 2024 in singles matches, according to Vic. Mike Rome did the championship introductions, with Troy weighing in at 340 pounds and Femi weighing in at 310 pounds.

NXT Championship: Oba Femi vs. Jasper Troy

Femi started with punches, but Troy hit Femi in the ribs with a knee and a front slam. Knee hit a senton splash for two. Femi showed off his power with a body slam. Femi worked over Troy with forearms to the head. Troy managed to pick up Femi and hit a suplex, which is not easy to do on a 310-pound man. When Troy went on the apron, Femi slapped Troy on the chest. Troy ran over Femi on the floor with a clothesline. Troy sent Femi hard into the turnbuckle. Troy sent Femi into the turnbuckle again and the middle turnbuckle broke, so the fans were stunned with a “holy s**t” chant. They went to a break for some fans as the referee called for other referees to show up and fix the middle turnbuckle. Troy hit a sidewalk slam for two. Femi applied an abdominal stretch on the mat while the referees and ring crew fixed the middle turnbuckle. Femi managed to hit a hip toss, but Troy came back with a running body attack to knock Femi down. The referees were done fixing the middle turnbuckle, so good job by them. Troy hit a spinning backbreaker and two splashes for two counts. Troy punched Femi in the ribs. They went to the apron, Femi punched him a few times, and Troy slammed Femi on the apron.

Troy remained on offense with another running splash for a two count. Femi was able to get some offense going with a suplex. Femi worked over Troy with clotheslines and an overhead suplex. Femi hit a running uppercut, but Troy came back with a running splash. Femi was able to come back from that with a spinebuster for two. They did a double clothesline and double kick spot to stagger each man. Troy sent Femi into the middle turnbuckle. Troy hit a Chokeslam for a two count. Good nearfall. Femi countered a slam and landed on top. Troy hit a back body drop to avoid a move. Femi picked up Troy and tossed him across the ring. Femi ran off the ropes and Troy hit the Black Hole Slam, but was too slow to cover right away, so it was only a one arm cover for a two count. Troy went for a splash off the middle ropes, Femi got the knees up and Femi clotheslined Troy out of the ring. Femi threw Troy into the barricade, and it broke when Troy hit it. They were back in the ring as Troy ran the ropes, and Femi hit him with a spinebuster for two, even though it looked like three. The referee said that Troy’s left shoulder was up even though it didn’t look like it was up. It’s likely a case of Troy forgetting to kick out. Vic called it Fall From Grace, but it was just a big spinebuster. Femi sent Troy into the ropes and hit the Fall From Grace for the pinfall win after 12 minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Oba Femi

Analysis: ***1/2 This was really good. I’m so impressed by these two guys who really don’t have a lot of experience in the ring in terms of years, but they look the part and they put on a very entertaining match. It was a different kind of match for Femi as he sold the pre-match attack throughout the match and made the big comeback to win. Troy did a terrific job of being the aggressive heel in the match and looked like he might win the match. There was that spot at the end where the referee claimed that Troy’s left shoulder was up after the spinebuster. I think Troy’s shoulder was supposed to get up, but it didn’t, so that was a bit awkward. Anyway, Femi showed once again that he can do it all very well, including sell an attack throughout a match, and he’s a future WrestleMania main event talent. Troy really impressed me too. That dude has a bright future as well. It’s amazing to see how talented these 300+ pound guys are.

Oba Femi celebrated with the NXT Title to end the show.

Final Thoughts on WWE NXT

It was a pretty good show this week. I thought the second hour topped the first. Three title matches on the show were a big help. None of the titles changed hands, but that’s okay. I was impressed by newcomer Lainey Reid’s performance against Jacy Jayne, and Ethan Page had a good match against Sean Legacy as well. With that said, casual viewers may not be interested in seeing newcomers like Reid and Legacy, so I think NXT is going through a bit of a transition after losing women like Roxanne Perez, Stephanie Vaquer and Giulia to the main roster recently.

I have praised Oba Femi extensively over the last two years as a potential WrestleMania main event-type performer. In his match with Jasper Troy, Femi had to sell a lot and make a comeback, and it was well done. Troy has only had a few TV matches in NXT, and he put on an impressive showing in a 15-minute TV main event match. There was that one spot where he didn’t get the shoulder up, so the ref had to cover him, but other than that, they did a very nice job. I enjoyed that main event.

The women’s division will get a lot of attention next week with four singles matches, plus the Blake Monroe (former Mariah May) contract signing.
