WWE Money In The Bank 2025 Preview tjrwrestling

It’s WWE Money in the Bank with two big ladder matches, plus John Cena teaming with Logan Paul against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.

This is the 16th edition of the WWE Money in the Bank PLE, which started way back in 2010. Five years before that, it was a WrestleMania match, and I have enjoyed seeing it evolve as one of the biggest WWE PLE’s of the year.

The show is lacking title matches, considering there are numerous titles on the WWE main roster, yet there’s only one title match out of the first four matches on the show. The next PLE after MITB is Night of Champions on June 28th, so that’s a show that will feature numerous title matches. We know Triple H likes booking these PLEs with five matches, which, to me, is too short, and as I sit here on Friday afternoon, there are only four matches. I think the card for Money in the Bank is okay, but I think it’s a show that would be better with more matches. Let’s get to it.

Women’s Money in the Bank Contract Ladder Match: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Naomi vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Giulia

Last year’s Money in the Bank winner was obvious because I picked Tiffany Stratton, and she was the winner. She was new on the main roster, so it made sense. This year, former NXT Women’s Champions Roxanne Perez, Giulia, and Stephanie Vaquer all got promoted to the main roster at around the same time, and they’re all in the Money in the Bank match. That makes it hard to pick which one of those women might win because I can see all three of them holding either Women’s Title at some point in the next year. If I had to pick one of the three to win Money in the Bank, I’d probably lean toward Vaquer, but she’s not going to be my pick.

Alexa Bliss is a wildcard in the match because she hasn’t wrestled that much since coming back earlier this year, and putting MITB on her as she has won in the past would put her into the title picture. I wouldn’t mind it if it happens.

Rhea Ripley is constantly booked as one of the top women in WWE, so I’m sure people think of her as a favorite in this kind of match. When it comes to Ripley, because she’s always around the title picture, it’s one of those things where she doesn’t “need” the briefcase, so why not put it on somebody else?

When Naomi qualified for this match, she immediately became my pick to win. I think she has done such a good job as being this different, over the top and a little bit crazy “Caution” heel character. Naomi has the rivalry with Jade Cargill, she’ll probably feud with Bianca Belair when Belair is cleared to return, and Naomi has feuded with Stratton in the past too. I think that with Naomi winning, there are numerous options. Additionally, I believe turning her heel was a bold move, and I want to see her rewarded by winning the Women’s MITB. She’s my pick.

If I had to rank my choices, I would go with Naomi as the winner, followed by Rhea Ripley and Stephanie Vaquer as the next two contenders I think could win. I could be way off too. It’s not an easy match to predict this year. In terms of quality, I think it should be awesome, given the wrestlers involved, who are all extremely talented. I’m excited to see it.

Winner: Naomi

Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Lyra Valkyria (c) vs. Becky Lynch

Their last match at Backlash was very good. I rated it at four stars, and it went about 20 minutes. It was one of those matches that was even most of the way, and Lyra got a rollup counter to secure the win rather than winning with her finishing moves. I expect this one to be similar to it in many ways.

I’m a bit surprised that this is a regular match without a stipulation because if you’re going to do it for a second time, why not make it different by making it a Street Fight or something that’s not a regular match? My feeling is that since Lyra won the first match, I think Lynch winning here is likely and it’s a way to give Lynch a heel title reign with the Women’s IC Title. If Lyra wins, then it will make her look like a strong champion who has beaten Lynch twice; however, I’m going with a title change here. There are so many good women on the main roster now, so putting Lynch up against somebody like Roxanne Perez or Stephanie Vaquer in the future would elevate either of those women. Heel Becky Lynch is very entertaining as a champion, so I think that’s what we’ll see again.

Winner AND NEW Women’s Intercontinental Champion: Becky Lynch

Men’s Money in the Bank Contract Ladder Match: LA Knight vs. Penta vs. Andrade vs. Solo Sikoa vs. Seth Rollins vs. El Grande Americano

They did not load the Men’s Money in the Bank match with huge names. Seth Rollins is the only former WWE/World Champion in the match, while Knight and Andrade have held secondary singles titles, but the others have not. On the one hand, it’s good to have people in the match who haven’t been a WWE Champion before. However, I think the match would be more interesting if bigger names like CM Punk, Sami Zayn, Damian Priest, and guys like that were involved.

The most obvious winner is Seth Rollins, who is pushed by far the most out of the guys in this match. With that said, there’s a part of me that thinks maybe we see Punk and Zayn show up to cost Rollins since Seth and his allies Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed are the reason why Punk and Zayn are not in this match. Then again, maybe the story becomes that Punk and Zayn prevent Rollins from cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase after Rollins wins it. Since Rollins is such a focal point of Raw right now, I think him winning MITB makes a lot of sense.

Outside of Rollins, I think LA Knight is a possibility to win, and then El Grande Americano has an outside shot, too. Knight has been US Champion twice, he’s nearly at that main event level, so maybe winning Money in the Bank could boost him to that next level. The reason I mention El Grande Americano as a possible winner is because it’s such a silly gimmick, and having him get a fluky win to end up as the MITB winner would be fun to see. Plus, it’s a reward for the great Chad Gable, who deserves to be used more.

I don’t see Penta, Andrade, or Solo Sikoa winning. Penta is fun to watch, and I enjoy his matches, but I feel like he’s likely to remain at the midcard level and not necessarily become a World Champion. Andrade getting into this match is nice to see because he’s been in the background for a few months. Solo Sikoa has main evented PLE shows in the past. I think we might see JC Mateo help him try to win, but then Jacob Fatu could “accidentally” cost Solo the win because Fatu has been upset about Solo and Mateo getting involved in his matches. In terms of story, I think Solo will come up short.

I’ll go with Rollins getting the win, but I’m not 100% sure about it because it seems too obvious, and I think Triple H’s booking has shown he likes to go against the obvious things sometimes. Jey Uso winning the Royal Rumble is an example of that.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena & Logan Paul vs. World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso & Cody Rhodes

The likely main event is a tag team match between the two major champions and their respective rivals. We also know that two days after Money in the Bank on the June 9th edition of Raw, Jey Uso is going to defend the World Heavyweight Title against Gunther as well.

For Cody Rhodes, it’s his first televised match in about a month and a half since he lost the WWE Title to John Cena at WrestleMania 41. That match wasn’t great, as we know, so I hope this one is better. I assume they follow the traditional tag team formula where the heels control most of the action before the babyfaces make the comeback.

I think it’s a match that really could go either way, but the result that makes the most sense to me is Cody pinning Paul. That would then set up Cena against Cody at Night of Champions in three weeks, but WWE could opt to wait until SummerSlam for the Cena-Cody match and do Cena against Jey in a match without either title on the line. They could also do Cena-Cody at NOC, have a cheap finish, and then that leads to a stipulation match at SummerSlam. There are numerous options. If Cena were to win, then I think he’s more likely to pin Jey instead of Cody. It feels like one of those tag team matches that is going to get a lot of time, and by that, I mean over 20 minutes. I’ll go with Cody hitting Cross Rhodes on Paul for the win.

Winners by pinfall: Jey Uso & Cody Rhodes

BONUS TOPICS FOR WWE MONEY IN THE BANK!

The Match I’m Looking Forward To The Most

I think I’m interested in the Women’s Money in the Bank a bit more than the Men’s Money in the Bank match.

The Match I Care About The Least

There are only four, so if I pick one, then I’d go with Valkyria/Lynch, even though I think it will be very good.

Longest Match

Last year, the two MITB matches were about 17 minutes, so I’m going to go with Cena & Paul against Rhodes & Jey, going about 22 minutes.

Shortest Match

I’ll go Becky Lynch-Lyra Valkyria getting about 15 minutes.

Excitement Level on a Scale of 1-10 (1 being low, 10 being high)

I’m at 7.25 out of 10 for this show. It’s a solid lineup, but the WWE product doesn’t feel particularly strong right now, nor does this card. I think the two MITB matches are going to be fun to watch, but it’s a card that lacks matches and features many good performers sitting at home without being on the card. To me, these PLEs could be better with one or two more matches being on the show. We don’t need 20 minutes between matches, either. More matches and more opportunities for wrestlers to shine would be a welcome sight.

I’ll be back with a review of WWE Money in the Bank on TJRWrestling.net on Saturday night, so be sure to check it out live or after the show. You can also tweet me on X/Twitter at @johnreport as well.
