The John Report: WWE NXT 11/06/24 Review
This week on WWE NXT featured a huge 10-woman tag team match plus Bubba Ray Dudley & Trick Williams facing Ridge Holland & Ethan Page.
It’s a rare Wednesday night episode of NXT due to the United States Presidential Election on Tuesday night, so NXT is head-to-head against AEW Dynamite.
For WWE NXT reviews I normally do summary style for most of the show and then play-by-play for one or two matches. For this week, I’ll do a regular review since I decided to do it live.
They are at 2300 Arena (former ECW Arena) in Philadelphia for this week’s show. Follow me on Twitter/X @johnreport. Let’s get to it.
There was an ECW-style intro featuring clips of NXT stars along with the WWE/ECW legends that will appear on this show as well. I thought it was well done.
It’s not a huge building, but it’s a good fit for the NXT brand. It was Vic Joseph and Booker T on commentary as usual.
There was a clip shown of Bubba Ray Dudley & Trick Williams hanging out along with Je’Von Evans walking around. They showed the ten women involved in the tag team match outside in the city.
Hardcore Match: Jaida Parker vs. Lola Vice
The special guest referee for the opening match was former WWE & ECW legend Dawn Marie. She looks pretty good. Dawn was certainly one of my favorites about 20 years ago and before that in ECW as well.
The two women have had issues, so it has led to this Hardcore Match which means weapons are allowed. Parker attacked Vice as soon as she got in the ring. Parker left the ring, she brought a chair into the ring and Vice hit a spinning back fist into the chair into Parker’s face. They left the ring where Vice grabbed a table from under the ring, but Parker hit Vice in the back with a chair. Vice rammed Parker’s face into a steel chair that was against the apron. Vice suplexed Parker on the floor. Vice tried getting a table again, so Parker hit Vice with a chair to the back again. The fans booed Parker. They went back into the ring with Parker sending multiple chairs into the ring. A chair was opened up in the ring, so Vice did a drop toe hold to send Parker into the chair. Vice hit a spin kick to the gut and sent Parker into a chair against the turnbuckle. Vice suplexed Parker onto a steel chair three times in a row. Vice gave Parker a DDT onto the chair but it was more like near the chair and not on the chair fully. Vice tackled Parker out of the ring. Vice and Parker did a double clothesline on the floor.
(Commercial)
The match returned with Vice standing up a ladder against the turnbuckle and Parker put a ladder across the middle rope. Parker hit a spinebuster. Parker put Vice onto the ladder on the middle ropes and then Parker climbed a ladder, which led to the tear drop (butt splash) that put Vice through the ladder. I’m watching on a CW channel and they muted the “holy shit” chants from the crowd. Parker got a two count out of that. Vice applied a sleeper hold on Parker, who managed to fight out of that and Vice held onto the sleeper when they went to the floor. Parker backed Vice into the steel steps to break free. Parker hit a running hip attack to knock Vice out of the ring. Parker charged, Vice moved and Parker hit the steel steps. Back in the ring, Vice covered Parker for two. Vice put a trash can on Parker and kicked the can three times. Vice hit Parker with a kendo stick two times. Vice hit the running hip attack into a trash can that was on Parker’s head. After Parker left the ring, she threw a trash can at Vice. Parker hit Vice with a kendo stick a few times to the body. Back in the ring, Vice hit Parker with kendo stick shots to the body. Parker hit Vice with a trash can lid to the back. Parker gave Vice a backbreaker onto a steel chair. Vice hit her running hip attack into a ladder for a two count. Vice applied a sleeper hold along with a body scissors, but Parker got her hands on a brick. Parker hit Vice with the break, which broke. It looked like a fake brick to me, but Lola sold it and it only got a two count for Parker. Parker ran the ropes leading to her Hypnotic running hip attack for the pinfall win after 15 minutes.
Winner by pinfall: Jaida Parker
Analysis: ***1/4 I thought it was a very good match and it was physical the whole way. The brick spot was a bit silly because it was obviously a gimmicked brick, but it is smart to be safe with one of those things. Parker getting the win is what I expected since she’s a star on the rise. Vice did well in the match too. I thought maybe they could have sold some moves a bit more, but I did like the match.
Ethan Page and Ridge Holland were in the streets of Philadelphia by the Rocky statue. Holland said that they both want to be NXT Champion, but they’ll put their differences aside. Page said that there would be no statutes or fairytale endings and especially no tables.
Kelani Jordan was stretching backstage doing the splits while Rob Van Dam was stretching by her. RVD gave her the advice of standing out by pinning Fallon tonight. Jordan thanked him for the advice. Henley told RVD where Ava’s office was since he asked her about it. As RVD was shown standing, the camera was knocked down and Wes Lee was standing over RVD with a chair, so Wes attacked him. Referees made Wes back away.
Je’Von Evans made his entrance for his match against Wes Lee up next.
(Commercial)
A clip was shown from Earlier Today when Tony D’Angelo and his family were there when Shawn Spears and Brooks Jensen showed up. Tony wondered if they were following him. Guido showed up along with Tony Mamaluke. Spears and Jensen left. Nunzio felt disrespected by Tony D. Tony M said that he called and said next week Adrianna Rizzo is going to face Nikkita Lyons. Nunzio informed Tony that tonight he’s going to defend the NXT North American Title against Nunzio.
Analysis: I did not expect a Tony D-Nunzio match this week, but Nunzio did call him last week so that’s how they set it up.
Je’Von Evans vs. Wes Lee
It was claimed by Vic that the referees would be lenient for the rest of the night.
They each went for big moves, but they were ready and there were counter moves. Lee set up Evans against the turnbuckle leading to Lee doing a 619 kick around the ring post. Evans teased a move on the steel steps, but Lee shoved Evans into the ring post. Lee connected with a brainbuster on the steel steps. Lee protected Evans on the move while Evans sold it like he was hurting. That led to a break.
(Commercial)
They were battling on the top rope, Evans avoided a move and then Evans jumped to the top leading to a hurricanrana off the top rope. That was great. Evans hit Lee with forearms followed by a jumping kick to the head. Evans hit a spinning slam on Lee for a two count. Lee kicked Evans a few times to the body along with a kick to the head. Lee went for a move off the ropes, but Evans caught him and then Lee hit a superkick. Lee hit a Poison Rana. Lee bounced off the ropes leading to the Cardiac Kick for a two count. That is Lee’s finisher. Lee brought a chair into the ring, so the referee Dallas Irvin took the chair away. Evans got a rollup for two. Lee hit a superkick while Booker complained about the referee taking the chair away. Evans hit a Cutter. Evans jumped off the top rope with a Cutter, but there was no cover because Lee left the ring. Evans went for a suicide dive, Lee avoided it and Evans went crashing onto the commentary table. Ouch. The fans were chanting “this is awesome” for them. Lee had a steel chair.
Rob Van Dam made his entrance and the fans popped for the WWE Hall of Famer. Lee tried to hit RVD with a chair shot, but RVD moved and Lee hit the ring post. Evans hit a dive over the top onto Lee. Evans jumped off the top with a Cutter. Evans went up top and hit a Frog Splash across the ring. It wasn’t a great Frog Splash because Lee was far across the ring, but it was still an impressive leap. It went about 12 minutes.
Winner by pinfall: Je’Von Evans
Analysis: ***1/2 That was fun. Evans and Lee are amazing athletes, so I’m not surprised that they were able to have an entertaining match together. RVD got some revenge on Lee by causing Lee to lose focus and Evans took advantage to win. The finish could have been better because Lee was too far away for Evans to hit a good splash, but I get that they were trying to do something spectacular. I wouldn’t mind seeing another match from these two, but perhaps they’ll go with RVD in a match with Lee instead.
Ava the NXT GM was shown walking backstage with Mr. Stone and Stevie Turner. Eddy Thorpe tried to talk to Ava, but she said she couldn’t talk now because she had to go to the ring. Ava promised they would talk, but not right now. Eddy was frustrated.

Ava Has An NXT Announcement
The NXT GM Ava was in the ring with Mr. Stone and Stevie Turner. Ava said it was such an honor for NXT to be held in such a historic arena while the electricity here is undeniable. Ava put over Philly fans for being the most passionate fans.
Ava said that NXT Deadline will take place on Saturday, December 7th in Minneapolis, and the Iron Survivor Challenge will return. Mr. Stone claimed that New York fans were way more hardcore than Philadelphia. Some fans were booing and doing middle finger gestures, which the CW didn’t like. Stone told Philly fans that their time has passed because even Boston fans are tougher. The lights went out, then the lights came back on and Rhyno was in the ring. Rhyno hit Stone with a Gore. The fans popped huge for that.
Analysis: There’s the NXT Deadline announcement for the final PLE of the year. The Mr. Stone promo was just a classic heel promo on the local fans. As for the Rhyno appearance, he’s a regular in TNA and recently was inducted into their Hall of Fame. I thought it might be the Sandman in that spot, but Rhyno is certainly fine for it if Sandman wasn’t available to do it.
The five babyface women (Kelani Jordan, Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia, Zaria & Jordynne Grace) were shown talking backstage ahead of their match in the main event. They were interrupted by Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson, who bragged about doing their thing at Crown Jewel. Jakara said that they might be the Dream Team, they have their money on the champions of this division. Lash wished them good luck. Stephanie and Giulia said that they would show them.
Ethan Page & Ridge Holland entered for their tag team match.
(Commercial)
The NXT Champion Trick Williams got a huge ovation for his entrance while the fans sang “Whoop That Trick” for the song. Booker T did his adlibs as well. Bubba Ray Dudley entered wearing the classic Dudley Boyz camouflage outfit and the fans popped for Bubba as well. Bubba put some classic Dudley glasses on Booker.
Bubba Ray Dudley & Trick Williams vs. Ethan Page & Ridge Holland
Trick started for his team, so Ridge shoved Bubba and that led to Trick tagging in Bubba. Ridge knocked down Bubba with a shoulder tackle. Bubba knocked Ridge down with a shoulder tackle along with an elbow. Trick tagged in with chops for Ridge. Page tagged in and hit a knee to Trick’s back, so Page took over briefly. Ridge tagged in, Trick broke free and Bubba tagged in with his classic punch combo. Trick jumped off Bubba’s back and Trick nocked both heels down, so the heels retreated to the floor.
(Commercial)
Page was distracting the referee, so Ridge tripped up Bubba and Ridge pulled Bubba so his groin hit the ring post. Ridge tagged in with a knee drop to the face. Ridge delivered some punches and Page tagged in with punches. Page bounced off the ropes leading to Bubba doing a tackle to take Page down. Trick tagged in with jumping side kicks on Ridge. Trick hit a flapjack on Ridge along with a Book End on Ridge, but Page broke up the pin. Page kicked Bubba, so Trick hit a jumping neckbreaker. Trick hit a jumping kick to Ridge. Trick went for the Trick Shot knee, but Ridge did the ROLLUP OF DEATH~! and pinned Trick for the pinfall win after 11 minutes.
Winners by pinfall: Ethan Page & Ridge Holland
Analysis: **3/4 The match was just okay. There were some cool nostalgic moments from Bubba, but there was nothing special about it. I didn’t love the ending with a ROLLUP OF DEATH~! although I get why it was done to give Ridge a win over Trick, which should lead to a NXT Title shot for Ridge sooner or later.
After the match, Page knocked down Trick with a forearm. Page and Ridge beat up Trick a bit until Bubba made the save. Bubba gave Page a body slam. Trick went up top while Bubba held Page’s legs open. Trick hit the top rope Whassup Drop headbutt on Page. The fans were chanting for tables, so Bubba shoved Trick and Bubba got the fans to chant: “Get The Tables.” Trick couldn’t find a table under the ring,
D-Von Dudley made his entrance wearing a Dudley Boyz shirt and of course, he had a table with him. The table was set up in the ring. Bubba picked up Page, Trick assisted in a lift and they gave Page a double Chokeslam through the table. D-Von gave Trick some Dudley glasses. Trick celebrated with the Dudleys.
Analysis: It was pretty obvious that was coming when Trick couldn’t find the table. Good idea because the fans popped for the Dudleys together again. I was hoping for a 3D through the table, but they went the safer route with the double team Chokeslam to put Page through the table.
Ashante Thee Adonis was backstage while Dion Lennox was back there looking at a book. Karmen Petrovic walked up to Adonis wondering what happened two weeks ago. Karmen wondered who was that girl two weeks ago. Adonis said it’s nothing serious. Karmen told Adonis to stay out of her business. Adonis said that Karmen with all this attitude is not her type. Adonis said Happy Birthday to her last week. Adonis left, so Karmen was impressed that he knew her birthday.
Tony D’Angelo and his family were shown walking backstage for his match up next.
(Commercial)
The heel team of Roxane Perez, Cora Jade, Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley & Jazmyn Nyx were backstage for a promo. They spoke about how they trust eachother. Perez said that they deserve to be in the main event and they will have their hands raised.
NXT North American Championship: Tony D’Angelo (w/Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino & Adrianna Rizzo) vs. Nunzio (w/Tony Mamaluke)
Nunzio (also known as Little Guido) is still in good shape although he’s very skinny as well.
Tony chased Nunzio out of the ring and Nunzio jumped on his back, but Tony knocked him down easily. Back in the ring, Nunzio wanted a handshake, so Tony hit him with a belly-to-belly side suplex. Nunzio knocked Tony down and hit a dropkick. Nunzio hit a leg drop to the back of the head called the Sicilian Slice for a two count. They each teased using weapons until the referee stopped a crowbar from being used. Tony picked up Nunzio and gave him a huge spinebuster for the pinfall win after about three minutes.
Winner by pinfall: Tony D’Angelo
Analysis: *1/2 Easy win for Tony D. Nunzio hit a couple of moves, but this was all about giving Tony D the win over the former wrestler.
After the match, Tony shook hands with Nunzio and they hugged. Tony kissed Nunzio on the cheek a few times. They held up an Italian flag in the ring as well.
Shawn Spears was talking to Brooks Jensen backstage. Spears teased something for him next week in Orlando.
Lexis King was shown talking to Mr. Regal last week on NXT after the match that King had. Regal told King that he was not his father’s son. Charlie Dempsey walked up and Regal wondered if Dempsey was like his father. Dempsey said I guess we’ll see. Regal told Myles Borne & Tavion Heights that the tag team division is wide open, so they should be ready. Regal said this is not just Charlie’s group, this is all of their group. Regal left and Wren said he was so fatherly.
Analysis: William Regal is Charlie Dempsey’s dad as most of us know, but it’s not acknowledged on the show.
The 10-woman tag team match was up next.
(Commercial)
A video aired about Nikkita Lyons admitting that she attacked Adrianna Rizzo. Lyons said that Oba Femi needed some help, so she helped him. Lyons said she’s been attacked many times in the past so she’s the attacker now. Lyons said that she’s going to take out the division and next week it starts with Rizzo.
Ava was backstage with Stevie Turner and Mr. Stone while Turner was carrying Stone after he was beaten up earlier. The NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer & Axiom talked to Ava, who said she’s going to talk to the other tag teams next week. Axiom wondered if they had to be there and Ava said no. After Ava left, Frazer said it sounded like an off week to him, so he left.
Next week on NXT:
* NXT Women’s North American Championship – Fallon Henley vs. Kelani Jordan
* Adrianna Rizzo vs. Nikkita Lyons
* Men’s & Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying matches begin.
The ECW Legend Francine was shown in the front row. She looks great.
It was time for the 10-woman tag team main event match. The heels were up first with Fatal Influence up first followed by Cora Jade and the NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez. The babyface team was next starting with Stephanie Vaquer, TNA’s Jordynne Grace, Kelani Jordan, Zaria & Giulia. Booker admitted that Zaria scares him. The ten women had a staredown in the ring. They went to break.

Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley & Jazmyn Nyx vs. Stephanie Vaquer, Jordynne Grace, Kelani Jordan, Zaria & Giulia
Jordan took control against Henley with an armdrag and a dropkick. Jordan did a cartwheel splash along with a cross body block. Vaquer tagged in with a springboard cross body block. Henely did a headbutt along with a slap. Henley hit Vaquer with a forearm and Nyx tagged in with a kick. Vaquer hit Nyx with knees to the ribs. Vaquer did the double knee smash to Nyx. The fans chanted “women’s wrestling” as Giulia tripped up Nyx and Guilia hit a double team elbow drop with Vaquer on Nyx. Perez tagged in to face off with Giulia, who did some finger-snapping. Giulia gave Perez an overhead suplex. Perez pulled Giulia down by the head. Jade tagged in while Perez hit a dropkick and Jade got a two count. Jade went for a running attack, Giulia avoided it and got a rollup for two. Giulia dropkicked Jade. Zaria tagged in with a belly to back suplex on Jade. Jayne tagged in, Zaria hit a headbutt and when Jayne tried a headscissors, Zaria powered out of it. Henley saved her partner, so then all ten women went into the ring and exchanged punches. Grace and Zaria slammed Henley and Jayne into eachother. Perez was tossed out of the ring onto her partners on the floor. Jordan went up top and hit a moonsault off the top onto the five women on the floor. Jordan didn’t jump far enough, but they sold it well anyway. Good sell.
(Commercial)
The heel side was in control as they isolated Jordan. Nyx hit a suicide dive onto two women on the floor. Jayne hit a running senton on Jordan for two. Jayne went for a corner attack, but Jordan avoided it so Jayne hit the turnbuckle. Jordan came back with a jumping side kick. Henley pulled Zaria off the apron to prevent a tag. Jordan avoided a double suplex and broke free to bring in TNA’s Grace. That led to Grace being on fire with forearms along with a German Suplex and a double superplex. Grace sent Jade into the turnbuckle along with a powerslam and a Vader Bomb splash off the turnbuckle for two. Zaria tagged in with a double team Powerbomb on Jade for two, but Perez made the save. Perez dropkicked Zaria out of the ring. Giulia hit a spinning sitout slam. Jayne with a neckbreaker to Julia. Vaquer hit a backbreaker on Jayne. Henley with a bulldog of sorts Jordan hit a back suplex on Henley and Nyx hit a jumping kick on Jordan. Grace took down Nyx with a rolling senton splash. Jade knocked down Grace. Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend went to ringside, so Giulia and Vaquer knocked them down. Perez dove onto Zaria on the floor and Jade dove onto the other women on the floor. Zaria picked up Perez in the ring, Perez broke free and Zaria hit Grace with a Spear after Perez moved out of the way. Zaria picked up Perez and hit a spinning slam like an F5 for the pinfall win after about 14 minutes.
Winners by pinfall: Stephanie Vaquer, Jordynne Grace, Kelani Jordan, Zaria & Giulia
Analysis: ***1/4 The match was a bit chaotic at times when it wasn’t obvious who the legal woman was so that they could all get involved in the match. The spot with Zaria hitting a Spear on Grace near the end may lead to those two having issues, but it depends on how often they use Grace in NXT moving forward. Zaria spinning the champion Perez is similar to the other tag team match where a champion was pinned. It’s a way to build a contender.
The team of Zaria, Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, Jordynne Grace & Kelani Jordan had their hands raised as the winners. That was the end of the show.

Final Thoughts on WWE NXT
It was a very good show from top to bottom with a lot of ECW nostalgia from top to bottom. I thought a lot of the ECW legends were used well.
There were three matches that I thought were a lot of fun and carried most of the show from an in-ring standpoint. As I mentioned in the review of the matches, both champions got pinned so Ridge Holland beating NXT Champion Trick Williams and Zaria pinning NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez could lead to future title defenses featuring those wrestlers.
I like it when the NXT brand leaves Orlando and does shows like this on the road. The Philly crowd was into it and that helped the show quite a bit. I enjoyed it.
