The John Report: AEW Dynamite 11/13/19 Review

This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite is a follow up to this past Saturday’s AEW Full Gear PPV. I thought it was an excellent show from top to bottom and it was my favorite of the three AEW PPVs this year. Here’s my AEW Dynamite TV review archive.

There was an opening video package that showed some highlights from Saturday’s AEW Full Gear PPV show. Some of the highlights included Chris Jericho retaining the AEW World Title after MJF threw in the towel to cost Cody the match and then MJF turned heel. They did not show highlights of Jon Moxley beating Kenny Omega in the Lights Out unsanctioned main event. The AEW opening video aired.

The pyro went off in the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville and the crowd was making a lot of noise. Jim Ross welcomed us to the show along with Tony Schiavone and Excalibur as the announce team.

They went over the matches: Dark Order vs. Jurassic Express, Nyla Rose in action, Hangman Page vs. Pac in a Full Gear rematch and the main event is SCU defending the AEW Tag Team Titles against Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara. Plus, Jon Moxley is in action up first.

There were images shown from the Lights Out match between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega. They showed closeups of the back of Omega that was cut up from some of the crazy bumps they did. Omega also had a visible black eye. The AEW doctor told him to take this week off and be safe. The doctor said that Moxley was cleared. Omega had his friend Michael Nakazawa and Riho hanging out with him. That means the story is Omega can’t wrestle this week.

Jon Moxley made his entrance and he walked in through the crowd instead of walking down the ramp. Michael Nakazawa was in the ring to do the job. Moxley got a big pop from the fans.

The bell rang, Nakazawa pulled out his baby oil and tossed it away. Nakazawa with punches, but then Moxley came back with a clothesline. Moxley with a corner clothesline. Nakazawa got a boot up, then a back elbow and Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift DDT for the pinfall win in about one minute.

Winner by pinfall: Jon Moxley

Analysis: 1/4* An easy win to put over Moxley to give him some more momentum as one of the biggest names in AEW.

Moxley had something on his mind asking: “So that one counts, right?” It does. He was referencing the fact that the Moxley/Omega match at Full Gear didn’t count for the win/loss record. Moxley said he is a lot of things and say what you want about him, but he is not a liar. Moxley said he told us what was going to happen at Full Gear and he delivered as advertised, as promised and he claimed Kenny Omega will never be the same again. There were “Moxley” chants. Moxley said that Kenny was a radical son of a bitch and he does respect Kenny because he had the balls to do something that nobody else in AEW is going to have the balls to step in the ring with Moxley. Moxley said nobody can run, nobody can hide and he’s going to scorch the Earth of AEW until he is the last man standing. Moxley said he didn’t know how long it takes. Moxley said if there’s anybody in AEW that wants to confront the only man that presents real danger in this ring, let him know. If anybody in AEW is listening, just say the word and Jon will let you know where you stand on the food chain. Moxley said if you step in the ring with him, kiss your loved ones goodbye, have the ambulance on speed dial (911 is easy to press, just saying) and when it’s over, don’t ask Moxley for any damn apologies. The fans cheered and Moxley left through the crowd.

Analysis: A great promo from Moxley as usual. It makes him sound like a madman, but also a dangerous competitor because we saw how crazy the match with Omega was. That match and victory gave him a lot of credibility. I’m not sure who his next rivalry will be with, but I think they could push Moxley to the AEW World Title level and the fans will accept that for sure. Moxley might be the most popular guy in the company.

The announcers promoted the tag team title match main event again.

The Dark Order team of Grayson and Evil Uno entered with their Creepers in the masks. The short team of Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt entered as the Jurassic Express. There’s still no Luchasaurus in action due to a hamstring injury. Nice pop for the Jurassic boys.

Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt) vs. Dark Order (Grayson and Evil Uno)

The little man Stunt attacked Uno with an arm drag, Boy tagged in against Grayson and hit a dropkick. Stunt back in with a headscissors on Grayson. Boy tagged in and Stunt jumped off Boy’s back onto Grayson across the ropes. Stunt went up top with a double foot stomp to the arm of Grayson. JR had a funny line about Grayson losing his first name. Uno tagged in with a boot to the face of Stunt and a body slam. Uno went up top and hit a Senton Bomb for two although it looked like he barely connected. The announcers noted Jungle Boy is 22 years old and Stunt is 23 years old, so they are two of the youngest guys in AEW. Grayson with a flipping senton splash onto Stunt on the apron. Uno chopped Stunt to the mat and Grayson went back in.

(Commercial – It was split screen time with Grayson hitting a delayed suplex on Stunt. Uno tagged in with a running back elbow to the back of Stunt against the turnbuckle. Uno missed a corner splash, Grayson tagged in and prevented Stunt from tagging out. Dark Order did a double team sidewalk slam for two as Boy made the save. Uno gave Stunt a fallaway slam. Back to full screen.)

Uno went for a powerslam, but Stunt turned it into a flatliner style move. Boy hit a forearm to Grayson when he tried to take out boy. Boy got the hot tag with the suicide dive on Grayson, three forearms, kick to the chest on Uno and Boy hit a standing moonsault onto both Dark Order members. Stunt got the tag, Uno broke free, Grayson jumped, double kick to Grayson and Stunt hit a dragon hurricanrana into a pin for a two count because Uno shoved Boy into the pin attempt to break it up. Stunt stumbled as he tried to get up to the top for that spot. Boy went for a suicide dive, but it was blocked and hit a double kick to the head on Boy. Grayson picked up Stunt and gave him a backbreaker. Uno picked up Stunt, Grayson went up top and they hit a double team Blockbuster called the Fatality for the pinfall win after 10 minutes.

Winners by pinfall: Dark Order (Grayson and Evil Uno)

Analysis: **3/4 The match was solid with the smaller Jurassic Express team on the losing end as expected. I think some of the tag team moves of Grayson and Uno are impressive while Jungle Boy gets better every time I see him. Stunt is okay for being a small guy. They have more talented guys sitting in the back doing nothing. Some of the match felt like they were off a bit, but they managed to get through it and the finish was done well.

After the match was over, Evil Uno told Marko he showed heart and he’s impressive, but Uno can give him a purpose. Uno told Stunt all he had to do was join the Creepers. Boy saved Stunt, so Grayson punched Boy and the Creepers stomped away on Jurassic Express. The fans were chanting “Luchasaurus” for the big man. Uno put the Creeper mask on Boy, but then music hit and that stopped it.

Luchasaurus showed up, kick to one Creeper, chop to another Creeper, headbutt to another Creeper and he tossed the guy into the barricade. Luchasaurus with a spin kick that knocked down three Creeper guys. That was a bit silly, but whatever. Luchasaurus tossed a Creeper onto others outside the ring. Luchasaurus with a kick to Grayson followed by a Chokeslam and a standing moonsault. Luchasaurus hugged Boy and Stunt as the Jurassic Express posed together. The fans loved these guys.

Analysis: It was a good way to bring back Luchasaurus after he was out with a hamstring injury. Luchasaurus is clearly the biggest star of the team. The announcers tried hard to put over Luchasaurus as a big guy by talking about how tall he was. He’s maybe 6’4” which is tall in AEW because they have such a small roster. The Jurassic Express gimmick is definitely popular, that’s for sure.

Shawn Spears entered with a steel chair along with his manager Tully Blanchard. They went to break.

(Commercial – It was split screen commercial time again. Peter Avalon entered with Leva Bates doing the librarian gimmick.)

Peter Avalon was talking about Nashville’s musicians, but we must have missed the punchline because it just ended. Darby Allin made his entrance with his skateboard and the fans popped for him as the only babyface in this triple threat match.

Darby Allin vs. Shawn Spears (w/Tully Blanchard) vs. Peter Avalon (w/Leva Bates)

Allin sent Spears out of the ring. Avalon charged at Allin, who sent Avalon to the apron and Allin hit a dropkick while Avalon was on the apron. Allin went up top, Spears tripped him up and Allin had a rough bump to the mat. Spears hit a sitout slam on Allin for a two count. Spears with a hard chop on Allin. Spears slammed Avalon back first on the ring apron. Joey Janela showed up on the ramp and then ran down to the ring to fight Spears with punches. They went brawling into the crowd with the announcers putting over No DQ in a three-way. Allin hit a flipping neckbreaker into a Stunner. Allin went up top and hit his Coffin Drop splash for the pinfall win after four minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Darby Allin

Analysis: *1/2 This was about putting over Allin against Avalon, who is in AEW as a comedy loser and Spears was protected since he wasn’t involved in the pin. Allin is a guy they have pushed a bit since Dynamite and the fans have taken a liking to him.

Darby Allin did a post match promo: “Jon Moxley. I accept.” The fans cheered that.

Analysis: That’s going to be a wild match. Both guys are faces to the fans so there’s not much of a traditional wrestling match dynamic, but it should still be a lot of fun to watch.

When the show returned, it was noted by Jim Ross that next week on Dynamite in Indianapolis it’s Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin.

Nyla Rose made her entrance. She hasn’t been on Dynamite much since losing the AEW Women’s Title match to Riho. The opponent is a local talent.

Nyla Rose vs. Dani Jordan

Rose is much bigger than Jordan. Rose connected with a boot to the face. Jordan slapped Rose, so Rose came back with a hard clothesline. Rose whipped Jordan into the turnbuckle followed by a corner splash. Rose with a Samoan Drop. Rose hit a sitout Powerbomb for the pinfall win after two minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Nyla Rose

Analysis: 1/2* A squash match to give Rose a win. They haven’t featured Rose much, so this was about reminding the audience that she’s a factor in the women’s division.

The announcers mentioned that Dustin Rhodes should be back in action in about one month after suffering a hand injury two weeks ago when Jake Hager slammed a door on his left arm.

Next week on Dynamite is a Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale. They mentioned the winner gets some ring. It was pretty confusing to be honest, but we’ll find out more next week.

Tony Schiavone interviewed the lovely Allie at ringside. Schiavone noted that Allie is #4 in the women’s rankings. I don’t think she’s been on Dynamite yet, so Allie said she loves being there and she’s shown it on Dark, but she wants to show it on Dynamite as well. The lights went out in the arena and the spotlight was on Awesome Kong in the aisle with Brandi Rhodes joining her.

Allie tried to go after Kong with punches, but Kong knocked her down easily and hit a spinning back first on Allie. Kong knocked down Allie on the ramp. Brandi grabbed a handful of Allie’s hair and Kong took some of the blonde hair. Kong sniffed the hair and Brandi kissed the side of the head of Allie. Kong put the hair on her belt since she is growing a hair collection.

Analysis: The angle with Kong and Brandi attacking the women started at Full Gear on the pre-show, so this was another showing of dominance for Kong by taking out Allie. It’s only a matter of time until they put the huge Kong against the tiny Women’s Champion Riho in a match, so that should be interesting to see how they book that when it happens.

The AEW World Champion Chris Jericho is up next. I think JR said “Fully Loaded” (a July WWE PPV name in the Attitude Era) instead of Full Gear when talking about Jericho’s title win on Saturday. Anyway, that’s up next.

Let’s Hear from Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho made his entrance with the AEW World Title on his shoulders and the fans gave a superstar reaction to the heel champion. It was mentioned by Excalibur that Jericho will never face Cody again for the title due to the stipulation before the match.

Jericho said that he is still Le Champion and he said he is what he says he is…the Greatest of All-Time. Jericho said he wants and demands a thank you from every member of the AEW roster, the back office, the front office, the side office and he wants his thank you. Jericho said he wants a thank you from people that matter, not jackasses from Nashville. The fans booed him even though they were cheering him moments earlier. Jericho talked about how he has beat everybody AEW has to offer and went over a list of names ending with Cody. Jericho said he knew he could beat Cody and claimed Cody was just a millennial son of a bitch. The lights went out and there was a spotlight on the stage.

It was Maxwell Jacob Friedman making his entrance in a suit and his scarf. There were some fireworks and MJF walked out to Cody’s theme song. It was the Cody entrance. The fans booed MJF.

MJF was booed loudly when he got into the ring followed by “Asshole” chants and it sounded like it was muted here in my country of Canada. MJF said he had to get something off his chest and when MJF asked if they don’t like him, the fans booed some more. MJF said if he didn’t throw the towel in, your favorite wrestler’s career would be over. MJF said that you make it seem like he is the villain, but you people have been cheering for the real villain…Cody. MJF said that fans love Cody and the fans cheered while adding that Cody could give less of a shit about each and every one of you. (That got muted here in Canada too.) MJF said he’s the only person on the planet that knows the real Cody because he claimed Cody is a liar and abuser. MJF said that the real Cody saw a young kid like himself and Cody thought he could make MJF into a puppet. MJF claimed that Cody wanted to be his mentor, which led to “bullshit” chants. MJF complained about Cody not caring about him and claimed that Cody wanted to put MJF underneath his thumb. MJF told “blondie” Cody his thumb isn’t big enough to hold MJF down. MJF said whether you like it or not, he is the new face of AEW and he said he’s better than Cody Rhodes and Cody knows it. The fans chanted “Cody” and MJF said that Cody isn’t there.

MJF told Christopher he is a big fan and if he did a Mount Rushmore of pro wrestling that you would be in his third or fourth group. MJF said that he heard a rumor that Jericho wanted MJF wanted to be in the Inner Circle and Jericho said he heard that MJF wanted to be in the group. They went back and forth doing a bit. MJF said that Jericho wanted him to join the Inner Circle-jerk then claimed it was a mistake by him. MJF said that Jericho liked to partake in “a little bit of the bubbly,” but he’s starting to think like all of these inbred hicks, Jericho might be drinking too much to think that MJF needs Jericho. Chris told “Maxwell seashell by the seashore” and Jericho talked about how MJF might want to be like Jericho. Jericho pointed out being from Long Island, wearing the scarf, being known by three letters, funny guys the scarves and their looks. Chris had a funny line about how it’s almost like MJF’s parents saw Jericho beating up Juventud Guerrera 25 years ago on WCW Saturday Night and out nine months later “your little twerp ass popped out” at MJF. The fans cheered while MJF asked who Juvi is, so Jericho told him to Google it. This was tremendous. Then they did a bit asking eachother if MJF wanted to be in the Inner Circle. They both asked eachother who the biggest jackass is in AEW and said “Cody Rhodes” at the same time. Jericho hugged MJF.

Analysis: That was an outstanding promo exchange from true heels like Jericho and MJF. I liked the way MJF insulted the fans, ripped on Cody and did everything he could to get heat from the crowd. It worked well. Jericho had some funny lines in there like how it was as if MJF’s parents were watching a Jericho match and out popped MJF nine months later with a gimmick looking like Jericho. That was well done. I like how they aren’t going to be in the same stable because that would overshadow MJF, who I think needs to stand out on his own. It’s incredible to see how skilled MJF is in terms of promos when he’s just 23 years old. I’m so excited about his future.

Cody appeared on the ramp and then walked down the aisle wearing a suit. Cody was told by two guys including a doctor that he wasn’t cleared to wrestle. Cody messed up a powerslam spot with Jericho. Cody punched MJF, then he did the powerslam to Jericho and Jericho left the ring.

Wardlow showed up in the ring with a clothesline and he was in a suit. This was the debut of Wardlow, who picked up Cody and slammed him off his shoulders. MJF instructed Wardlow to choke Cody with his tie and Wardlow hung Cody by his tie while on the apron. There were referees that went to the ring to stop it. MJF and Wardlow left while Cody was checked on by referees.

Analysis: Good debut for Wardlow, who has been featured in video packages for a few months. I don’t know much about him, but using him as a heel and as the “muscle” so to speak of MJF is a smart move. It was a bit weird that none of Cody’s friends came out to check on him, but I think it’s a case of wanting to put over the heels for their attack. Overall, this was all really well done and put over MJF/Wardlow in a big way.

(Commercial – It was split-screen commercial time as they showed Cody getting checked by a doctor and referees. Cody exited the arena with the referees and doctor checking on him. “The Bastard” Pac made his entrance.)

The show returned with “Hangman” Adam Page making his entrance. Page beat Pac at Full Gear on Saturday. Pac beat Page earlier in the year, so this is the rubber match between them.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. “The Bastard” Pac

Pac was aggressive early on with kicks. Pac sent Page out of the ring, Pac hit a dive over the top and onto Page on the floor. Pac went up top with a perfect looking moonsault onto the standing Page to knock him down. Pac sent Page into the ring, Pac missed a Black Arrow attempt, Page with a corner dropkick and a suicide dive into the barricade. Back in the ring, Page hit a Powerbomb leading to a “Cowboy Shit” chant for Page. Pac and Page got into a slugfest, Pac went to the apron, he jumped off the top and Page hit a boot to the face for a two count. Page set up Pac up top, Pac with a headbutt followed by a missile dropkick. Pac went up top again with another missile dropkick this time to the back of Page for a two count. Page was on the apron, Pac charged and Page slammed Pac spine first on the apron. Page went up top and connected with his own moonsault onto Pac on the floor.

The match returned with both men exchanging strikes, Pac sent Page to the apron, Page jumped back in, superkick by Pac, Page with a forearm and Pac with a snap German Suplex. When Pac tried another German Suplex, Page landed on his feet and hit a clothesline. Both guys were down, which led to loud cheers and “AEW” chants from the fans. Pac went for a low blow kick that the referee couldn’t see, Page blocked it and Pac hit a kick to the head leading to a two count. Page came back with a superkick to send Pac out of the ring. The fans chanted “this is awesome” for them. Pac teased a brainbuster on a chair, but Page stopped Pac with a brainbuster on the floor. Back in the ring, Page hit the Buckshot Lariat for a two count. Pac took control again with some kicks that knocked Page down. The referee made Pac back up while Page was down like he was knocked out. Pac went up top and Pac hit the Black Arrow splash into the Brutalizer submission. Page was out, so the referee called for the bell. It went 13 minutes.

Winner by submission: Pac

After the match, Pac held onto the Brutalizer for a few more seconds after the win until the referee made him release it.

Analysis: ***3/4 A great match as expected from these two. This is what I mean sometimes about AEW matches where they get close to 20 minutes and it drags on sometimes. This is what they need to do more often where they give guys 10-15 minutes and they are able to have an excellent match like we just saw here. Pac and Page each hit their biggest moves, they countered eachother due to their familiarity and in the end, Pac was able to get the win. I think the right guy went over because Pac is one of the best all-around performers in AEW. I like Page too, but I prefer a win for the heel Pac, so I’m glad he got the victory.

The announcers talked about the tag team match main event up next.

There was a backstage scene of The Young Bucks and Santana and Ortiz brawling backstage. Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks gave Ortiz a body slam through a table. Santana jumped off a forklift and jumped onto Nick along with some security guys that are likely indy wrestlers. Santana whipped Nick into a bathroom door and Orange Cassidy was in there with his hands in his pockets. The fans cheered at the sight of Cassidy. Matt hit Santana with a superkick.

(Commercial – It was split-screen time again as The Young Bucks and Santa/Ortiz continued their brawling and they all went out into the arena. The brawl led to Matt of the Bucks hitting a cross body block off the apron onto Santa on the floor. The Bucks and Santana/Ortiz were separated by security to put an end to this.)

It was back to full screen with the fight continuing on the ramp. Santana and Ortiz attacked with their blackjack sock filled with baseballs to the ribs of Matt. Santana was standing tall over Nick, who was favoring his right leg that was injured at Full Gear. Santana used the blackjack sock to the right leg of Nick. Santana got some spray paint and put a circle on a nearby table. Santana and Ortiz picked up Matt leading to a double Powerbomb through a conveniently placed table. That’s what they did to Ricky Morton previously. Brandon Cutler, who is a friend of the Young Bucks, showed up to save Nick from a double team attack, but then Santana and Ortiz went after Cutler with punches. Santana and Ortiz said that they were the best. Private Party showed up to shove Santana and Ortiz. The Young Bucks were helped to the back.

Analysis: Good brawling segment to put over Santana and Ortiz as vicious heels. This should lead to a lot of heat for the next match between the Young Bucks and Santana/Ortiz whenever they have another match.

Next week on AEW Dynamite: Santana and Ortiz vs. Private Party and Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin.

The So Cal Uncensored trio of Frankie Kazarian, Scorpio Sky and Christopher Daniels made their entrance with the AEW Tag Team Titles. Good to see Daniels back in action wit ha microphone for the entrance. They did a promo to start the show with Scorpio Sky saying this was the worst town they’ve ever been in. Daniels said Nashville is filled with some badass wrestling fans and even though they may hate the town, but they love the fans, so they brought us some California love. Kazarian led the “SCU” chant. I enjoy the “worst town” bit. That main event match is next.

Sammy Guevara made his entrance for the main event. He’s a part of the Inner Circle group with Excalibur noting that Guevara and Jericho are 2-0 as a team in AEW. Chris Jericho made his second entrance of the night, this time for the main event match. Jake Hager was with Jericho as usual. The four wrestlers stood in the ring with Justin Roberts doing the championship introductions for the match.

AEW Tag Team Championships: So Cal Uncensored – Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky (w/Christopher Daniels) vs. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara (w/Jake Hager)

The match started with about 12 minutes left in the show. Kazarian with two arm drags, then a dropkick and Guevara tagged in. Sky tagged in with a double axe to the arm on Guevara followed by a backbreaker with Schiavone saying that Sky is the best athlete in AEW, which is probably true. Kazarian tagged in with a leg drop to the back of the head of Guevara. Kazarian sent Guevara into the ropes, Sky with a kick, Kazarian with a German Suplex on Guevara and Sky hit a dropkick on Jericho to get him out of the ring. Kazarian worked over Guevara with strikes followed by a clothesline. Kazarian looked back to see Jericho in position, then Jericho tripped him and Guevara hit a standing SSP for a one count. Jericho held Kazarian by the ropes leading to Hager to get in a cheap shot punch when the referee wasn’t looking. Jericho with a belly to back suplex followed by the “come on baby” cocky pin attempt. Kazarian got back up, he charged, Jericho with a knee to the ribs and a low dropkick. Guevara back in with a pump kick on Kazarian, a Samoan Drop and Frankie got a two count. Guevara with a dropkick that sent Kazarian to the turnbuckle. Guevara and Jericho posed in the ring. Guevara hit a Spanish Fly slam. Guevara went up top and missed a Shooting Star Press because Kazarian moved. Frankie broke free, Sky got the hot tag and hit a back elbow on Guevara. Sky with a kick to the face, a dropkick for Sammy and a dropkick for Jericho as well. Sky grabbed a hold of Guevara, slammed him down and hit a neckbreaker for two. Guevara with a rising knee, Sky with a kick and Sky jumped over the top, back into the ring and hit a Cutter for a two count. That was impressive. Jericho broke up a submission move with a hard slap to the face of Sky. Kazarian with a leg drop to the back of Jericho. Hager pulled Kazarian out of the ring (the ref never saw it even though he was on that side of the ring) and hit a clothesline on Kazarian. Guevara got a rollup on Sky. Daniels dove onto Hager, who caught him and Hager whipped Daniels into the barricade. JR said “Swagger” instead of Hager and then said he’s got swagger – good attempt to cover up. Jericho got the tag, Sky with a Thesz Press followed by punches and a double foot stomp to the back of Jericho. Sky put Jericho on his shoulders leading to a TKO (another Cutter) for a two count. Jericho wanted a dropkick, Sky hung onto the ropes and Sky missed an elbow drop off the middle ropes. Jericho wanted the Lionsault, but Sky got the knees up to block. Jericho sent Sky to the ropes, Sky jumped off and Jericho hit the Codebreaker for two. They got back up, Sky did an inside cradle to Jericho and that led to the 1…2…3 victory after 11 minutes.

Winners by pinfall: So Cal Uncensored – Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky

Analysis: ***1/4 A pretty good main event match with Sky getting another huge win by becoming the first guy to beat Jericho in a match in an AEW ring. Jericho was the ring general that controlled the match. This was about putting over Sky again, which tells me that maybe he’s going to be a breakout singles wrestler as well and not just part of a tag team. When this match was set up, most people probably assumed Sky would pin Guevara, so when Sky pinned Jericho it was done to surprise the fans and I like that decision.

The SCU guys celebrated the win while the announcers put over Sky huge.

Jericho was pissed off about the loss, so he destroyed some of the set by tossing over the barricade. Jericho grabbed a chair and hit it against the ring post. That was the end of the show.

Analysis: A rare week of AEW Dynamite where there’s not a brawl to end the show! I’m kidding. I like those endings. It was fine to end it this way.

Final Thoughts

This week’s Dynamite gets a 7.25 out of 10.

It was another entertaining edition of Dynamite this week. The second hour was excellent while the first hour was less interesting. There was some more storyline development and different people on the show than what we get some weeks. Because of that, the match quality was down from some previous weeks, but it was still a very entertaining episode from start to finish. The best match was Pac/Page and I liked the main event as well with Jericho getting pinned for the first time as a way to elevate Scorpio Sky even more. Jericho continues to amaze me in the ring, on the microphone and just everything he does.

There was a bit more talking than usual this week, but that’s fine with me because the Jericho/MJF segment was excellent. Both guys delivered quality promos on their own and then when they interacted it was exactly as it should have been with both guys acting like jerks, yet also making us laugh at the same time. It was very entertaining.

The announce team in AEW is very good for the most part. However, it was notable when JR said Fully Loaded at least twice instead of Full Gear and he said “Swagger” when talking about Jake Hager. I get that mistakes happen on live TV, but it was more noticeable this week. I do like the announce team in general.

We don’t know when the next AEW PPV is yet, so hopefully we find out soon and know where things are headed.
