The John Report: AEW Dynamite 10/23/21 Review
It’s the second straight week where Dynamite is airing live on a Saturday night instead of the usual Wednesday time slot. That’s due to TNT choosing to show NHL coverage over the last two weeks. Dynamite returns to Wednesdays this coming week.
In case you missed it, here’s my AEW Rampage review covering Friday’s show. It was a pretty good show with an outstanding match between Pac and Andrade El Idolo that I rated over four stars out of five.
This is AEW Dynamite episode #107 at the Addition Arena in Orlando, Florida. Follow me on Twitter @johnreport. Let’s get to it.
The AEW Dynamite introduction video aired to start the show. “It’s Saturday night and you know what that means” welcomes us to the show from Jim Ross, who is on commentary with Excalibur and Tony Schiavone. They did a rundown of what’s coming up. The crowd in Orlando was fired up.
It’s an AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament match with Bryan Danielson up first to a big pop and Dustin Rhodes was cheered as well. JR noted that Dustin was 50 years old with over 30 years of experience. Danielson is ten years younger at 40 with over 20 years of experience.
Analysis: This is the second match in the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament after Orange Cassidy won on Rampage. I don’t remember the last time Dustin won a match on Dynamite, but the announcers mentioned he had a good record so I guess he wins on the Youtube shows. Most of the guys in the tournament should be in while some of them are questionable choices.
AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament: Bryan Danielson vs. Dustin Rhodes
Bryan and Dustin shook hands with the fans cheering them. The fans were chanting for both guys immediately and they exchanged some moves like armdrags. Bryan took control as he hooked Dustin’s legs and then dropped back to the mat to stretch Dustin’s knees. Bryan tried a submission, but Dustin got to the ropes to break. Bryan with forearms, Dustin with one of his great punches and Bryan sent Dustin to the floor. Bryan hit a suicide dive onto Dustin on the floor. Dustin came back with a dive off the apron onto Bryan on the floor. Back in the ring, Bryan with a dropkick to the leg. Bryan with kicks to the body, he went for a waistlock and Dustin hit a German Suplex, which is not a normal move by him, but it looked good. Dustin chopped Bryan in the chest repeatedly, Bryan came back with kicks, headbutts and got an underhook suplex. Bryan applied an armbar followed by a stomp on the arm. They showed free agent Tony Nese watching in the crowd. Bryan went up top, but Dustin was there to meet him and hit a superplex for two. The easy to please crowd chanted “this is awesome” for them. Bryan was sent into the turnbuckle, he did a backflip off the top, Dustin followed up with a powerslam and a Curtain Call reverse suplex into a pin for a two count. Dustin worked over Bryan with ten punches in the corner, a middle figure salute and the fans were chanting along with it. Bryan counted a bulldog as he shoved Dustin into the turnbuckle and worked over Dustin with chops/kicks to the body. Bryan set up Dustin on the top, then Dustin sent him onto the top rope and a clothesline got two for Dustin. Bryan got a hold of the arm looking for a LeBell Lock, Dustin tried to fight it and Dustin got his right foot on the bottom rope to break it. Bryan worked over Dustin with kicks, Dustin came back with punches (I think Dustin shouted “come on, motherf**ker” too), then Bryan with a backslide pin for two and an enziguri kick to the head. Bryan with repeated stomps while holding the arms of Rhodes. Bryan charged at Dustin, who turned around with a clothesline. Dustin hit a piledriver for a two count. The fans chanted “AEW” for the effort of these two great wrestlers. Bryan with a knee, then kicks to the body, a kick to the head and Bryan went for a Guillotine Choke submission. Dustin was fading in the submission, then Bryan wrapped his legs around the body and Dustin was fading, so referee Bryce Remsburg called for the bell to give Bryan the win. It went 14 minutes.
Winner by submission: Bryan Danielson
Analysis: **** This was a great match as expected by two talented veterans with over 50 years of pro wrestling experience. The fans were into it right away by chanting “this is awesome” within a few minutes, but then it really got good with Dustin hitting a bunch of moves for nearfalls where it looked like he might win even though most of us watching assumed Danielson would win. JR made a point during the match that Bryan won all of his matches (he’s not undefeated since he had a draw with Kenny Omega, but speaking about the wins only) with different moves and this was another different move that Bryan won with. I’m happy Dustin is in a good place in his life and enjoying his run in AEW. For a guy in his 50s, he moves like he’s way younger and he always knows how to put on a show. Bryan is always going to have a great match as long as he gets time he like he gets in every match he has in AEW. I certainly have not been disappointed by how AEW has booked Bryan so far.
After the match, Dr. Sampson and the referee checked on Dustin after the submission and Bryan went on to check on Dustin too, but the camera faded out.
Bryan Danielson’s win means he faces Lance Archer or Eddie Kingston in the semifinals.
The Elite group of Kenny Omega, Adam Cole and The Young Bucks were doing a promo. Kenny mentioned the Dark Order will face The Elite next week. Omega ripped on “Hangman” Adam Page while talking about Halloween and saying Page was cosplaying as a cowboy. Omega said he knows Page’s insecurities. Page said if people knew him the way Page knew him they wouldn’t be chanting “Cowboy Shit,” they would be saying “Coward Shit.” Omega credited Cole for that line.

A video aired featuring AAA Tag Team Champions FTR talking about building their legacy. Dax Harwood talked about wanting to take the AEW Tag Team Championships against Lucha Brothers. Cash Wheeler said last year they lost the AEW Tag Team Titles at Full gear, but now they are back and they are the greatest tag team of all time. Penta El Zero Miedo and Alex Abrahantes did a promo with Alex had a scar on his face with Alex talking about how he was going to get revenge. Harwood said if you think the black eye was bad, wait until Full Gear.
Analysis: That should be an incredible tag team match at Full Gear with Lucha Brothers and FTR facing off for the Tag Team Titles.
Let’s Hear from Sting…Get Interrupted
Sting entered for an interview with Tony Schiavone, who wanted an update on Darby Allin. Big pop for The Stinger. Tony tried to ask Sting a question, but then Maxwell Jacob Friedman showed up for an interruption.
MJF told Florida to show some class for once. MJF was on the stage calling Sting “Darby’s Little Emo Daddy.” MJF said that he’s not there to start a fight because the last thing he wants to do is embarrass The Icon. MJF said Sting didn’t want to answer that waste of space’s question because the truth is Darby Allin isn’t coming back. The fans chanted “shut the f**k up” at MJF, so he kept doing the promo and ripped on the fans for solving problems with gun violence and incest. MJF said that Sting is a bad person while yelling at a “Fat Boy” in the crowd. MJF said that because of Sting’s negligence, it’s why Darby has ended up in the same spot as Lex Luger…in a wheelchair. Sting punched MJF, who was in the ring after all of that.
MJF was assisted by Wardlow and Shawn Spears, who hit Sting in the back with a chair shot. Wardlow hit Sting with a clothesline to the back. Spears hit Sting with three chair shots to the back. MJF sat on a chair in the ring. MJF said he knows Darby is watching and MJF wondered if he broke Darby mentally now. MJF had Sting’s head in his hands. MJF said no matter how many times people chant for Allin and fans chanted “Darby” right on cue. MJF said they can chant your name all they want, this is your future…right here. MJF said that Allin will always be the second best to MJF. MJF said he’s the past, present and the future of professional wrestling. MJF punched Sting with the Dynamite Diamond ring on his hand. MJF left with Pinnacle buddies Wardlow and Spears while Sting was alone in the ring.
Analysis: My first thought is that Sting must be an asshole if nobody tried to help him during all that time. Not a single referee or security guy tried to help. I know it’s pro wrestling, it’s just a way to get heat on a heel, but it’s also unrealistic that not a single person would try to help a respected man in his 60s from a three on one attack. The Lex Luger line by MJF was really mean. That’s what he does since he’s a guy known for getting genuine heat in his promos and this was no different. Anyway, they are clearly building to MJF vs. Allin at Full Gear in a matchup between two talented young guys.

Britt Baker was interviewed by Tony Schiavone, who mentioned Britt has to defend the AEW World Title against Tay Conti. Baker said all Tay has done is show everybody her ass while Baker has shown she’s the top woman in AEW. Baker said that she’s going to beat that ass that Tay loves showing off all the time. Baker: “Yours truly, Dr. Britt Baker…D.M.D.” Baker was without her friends. I believe Rebel is on the Jericho Cruise based on her social media posts.
Analysis: I mentioned in my Rampage review that I thought Baker would be against Conti at Full Gear, so now it’s official. I doubt Conti beats Baker for the title.
AEW Women’s TBS Title Tournament: Ruby Soho vs. Penelope Ford
Ford threw her jacket at Ruby and got some offense in. Ford went for a high kick in the corner, Ruby avoided it and got a waistlock. Ruby with a forearm to the back. Ruby with a kick to the gut and the running kick to the head for two. Ruby with a kick to the chest by the apron, then The Bunny skipped her way down to the ring and supported her buddy Ford. Ruby tried to hit Bunny, so Ford kicked her into the turnbuckle. Ford punched Ruby on the apron. They went to a picture in picture break.
(Commercial)
The match returned with Ruby hitting a belly to back suplex. Ruby with chops, Ruby with a knee, kick and an enziguri kick to the head. Ruby with a running forearm to the back for a two count. Ford did a move where she avoided a charging Ruby, then Ruby off the ropes and Ford hit a Cutter. It looked like Ruby ran right into it. Ruby got an inside cradle for two. They messed up a whip into the corner spot since Ruby had to run into the turnbuckle for the next spot instead of the ropes. Oops. Anyway, Ruby with a back heel trip. Ruby up top, jumped off with nothing, Ford with a kick and Ford hit a gutbuster with two knees to the ribs for two. Bunny sent Ford some brass knucks into the ring, referee Rick Knox kicked them out of the ring and Ruby rolled up Ford for the pinfall win after about ten minutes.
Winner by pinfall: Ruby Soho
Analysis: **3/4 It was a solid match. A few awkward spots here and there, but I thought they did well in terms of coming up with a creative finish. Since Bunny/Ford have had success with the brass knuckles in the past, it’s smart to have that play into the finish and actually make a referee look competent by sending the knucks out of the ring. Ruby capitalized for the win.
After the match, The Bunny joined Ford trying to fight Ruby Soho, but Red Velvet ran out to help. The heels left. Wrestlers leaving the ring tend to end segments like that.
There was a backstage promo featuring MJF and Shawn Spears with MJF saying he sent Darby Allin a message. Wardlow showed up complaining about that bullshit last week when MJF shoved Wardlow into Sting. MJF said that he was just a bit nervous, he thought Wardlow did a great job and he loves him. MJF said he knows Wardlow has a tough job, so MJF is assigning him and accountability-buddy and that’s Shawn Spears. MJF said he loved them and he left.
Analysis: Maybe it’s time for Wardlow to get a storyline. After two years, it makes sense to do it.

Anthony Greene vs. Bobby Fish
Both of these guys were in WWE a few months ago. Greene with a cross body block off the top. Fish jumped over the top with a senton splash on Greene. Fish drove Greene into the ropes, kicks to the legs and a dragon screw leg whip. Fish with a running clothesline. Fish with an overhead suplex into the ropes and the roundhouse kick to the head for the pinfall win after two minutes.
Winner by pinfall: Bobby Fish
Analysis: * That was quick. There aren’t that many short matches on Dynamite very often, but this was done to put over Fish as a threat. Greene is a good athlete with potential. It was just more about putting over Fish.
After the match, Fish saw Greene against the ropes and Fish kicked him in the back of the left leg. Fish beat up Greene with punches with the announcers acting shocked by somebody in pro wrestling acting like a heel. Fish applied a sleeper to Greene, so CM Punk ran out for the save. Fish left the ring while he exchanged words with Punk in the ring. They played Punk’s theme song and the fans cheered for Punk, who had a black/grey beard look. There were “CM Punk” chants as Fish talked trash to Punk from a distance. Punk left to cheers.
Analysis: It seemed like this match was more about the post match angle to put over Fish as a heel. It also sets up a match between Punk and Fish, who are two guys around the same age in their early 40s. That should be another win for Punk.
Lio Rush and Dante Martin were interviewed by Tony Schiavone. Rush said he has to show Dante the way and show he has the tools. Rush trashed Matt Sydal about losing while Martin said that Sydal is one of the best in the world. Rush said he knows Dante is one of the best in the world. Rush said he knows Dante can beat Sydal, Rush said he knows he can beat Sydal and he got them a tag team match on Rampage against the Sydal Brothers.
Lance Archer made his entrance and Eddie Kingston attacked him from behind with punches. The fans were chanting for Eddie. They fought on the floor with Archer where Archer grabbed a “fan” over the barricade and gave him a body slam on Kingston on the floor. Archer gave a Chokeslam to the “fan” on Kingston on the floor. Eddie got back with a chop, Archer with a punch and they went into the ring to start the match.
AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament: Lance Archer vs. Eddie Kingston
Archer sent Kingston into the turnbuckle and hit a running back elbow followed by a hard chop, so Kingston did an eye poke. Archer lifted up Kingston for the Black Out finisher, but Kingston fought out of it and applied a sleeper pulling back on the head. Kingston with punches, Archer off the ropes and a clothesline to the back. They went to a picture in picture break.
(Commercial)
Archer hit a splash on Kingston for a two count. Kingston staggered back up with a slap and Archer slapped him back in the face. Archer charged, Kingston moved, Archer kicked him in the chest and Archer went up top. Archer jumped off with a moonsault, Kingston moved and Archer landed on the top of his head! Geez. That is rough. Referee Bryce Remsburg saw it and checked on Archer right away. Remsburg was talking to Archer, who was down in the ring. They replayed it again and you can tell Archer hit his head hard in the ring. Dr. Sampson checked on Archer out on the floor. Archer went back into the ring and Kingston did a ROLLUP OF DEATH~! for the pinfall win after eight minutes.
Winner by pinfall: Eddie Kingston
Analysis: *3/4 They could have had a wild brawl for ten minutes or more I’m sure, but Archer landed on his head by accident meant that they had to change what they planned on the fly and having Kingston roll him up was the right move. Be smart and be safe. Don’t risk further injury with any unnecessary bumps. I’m sure Archer was frustrated by what happens, but that’s pro wrestling sometimes.
An update on Archer is that people in the arena said he was able to walk and was helped to the back. Hopefully he’s okay. Archer tweeted this:
Listen. We choose to do this and take our health n lives in our hands every night. I’ve done that move hundreds of times over my career. Just under rotated. Coulda been MUCH worse. Thank you to ALL at @AEW for taking AMAZING care of me and protecting me. I’ll BE BACK!
— The Murderhawk Monster Lance Archer (@LanceHoyt) October 24, 2021
Eddie Kingston will face Bryan Danielson in the semifinals on Rampage on Friday. That should be a win for Danielson.
(Commercial)
The show returned with Men of the Year duo Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky were in the ring for a promo with Dan Lambert. Ethan ripped on the Inner Circle. Ethan spoke about Scorpio Sky pinning Jake Hager in AEW. Ethan talked about Santana/Ortiz by simply saying that him and Sky look better than them. Something like that. Ethan ripped on Chris Jericho, who wasn’t there (he’s on his cruiser), and commented on Chris flirting with Paige Van Zant and mentioned Jorge Masvidal hitting Jericho with the knee. Page called Sammy Guevara a PR Nightmare and said that they are the future of the company, not Sammy.
Sammy Guevara showed up with the TNT Title around his waist. Sammy borrowed a Jericho line: “Would you please shut the hell up?” Sammy said sometimes life sucks, but he worked his ass off and became the TNT Champion. Sammy said that the only person that gives a shit about anything that Ethan has done there is himself since he’s All Ego. Sammy called Lambert a “fat-faced dipshit” so the fans chanted it.
Lambert told Sammy he’s actually proud of him, little fella. Lambert said he heard backstage rumors that Sammy sucks on the stick. Lambert wanted a ten-man tag team match with American Top Team and Men of the Year vs. Inner Circle at Full Gear only if Sammy puts the TNT Title on the line next week on Dynamite against Ethan Page. Lambert said if Sammy wins they get the match, but if Sammy loses then he loses the title and leaves Inner Circle forever. Sammy thought about it: “You’ve got yourself a deal, asshole.” Sammy said when he beats Ethan, he gets to decide the three members of American Top Team that are in the match. Sky and Ethan went after Sammy on the ramp, so Jake Hager, Santana and Ortiz arrived to help Sammy. The heels ended up running away.
Analysis: Good promos here with Sammy stepping in for Jericho, who is away on the cruise. I also liked the Ethan Page got to speak since he’s a skilled talker as well, but he is in the background too much. Lambert’s deal to set up the Full Gear is fine because Sammy will in and that’s going to lead to the match at Full Gear, which was the obvious direction for this storyline. It should be an interesting match at Full Gear when it happens and I like that it will be different than everything else on the card since it’s a 5 on 5 tag team match that should have a lot of cool moments.
Jon Moxley did a promo talking about the World Title Eliminator tournament. Moxley said that his daughter grabbed his pinky and he said he didn’t give a crap about any of this. Moxley said he didn’t care about the tournament, the ratings, the demo, who said what on Twitter, all he cares about is his daughter. Moxley said that this is what he does for a living and he said that this is like everybody goes in a dark alley, but only one guy comes out. Moxley said “I’ll get you before you get me” and he’s going to win this damn thing.
This Wednesday on Dynamite: Jon Moxley faces Dark Order’s Ten.
Sammy Guevara was back on the stage with signs in hand during the picture in picture break.
(Commercial)
The Dark Order group of seven wrestlers were there with “Hangman” Adam Page walking up to them. Hangman said sorry about everything that happened after he left and said that the group was right. Hangman said that they all did what they thought was right. Hangman said next week they’re going to be close to Halloween, so he didn’t want them to be undone. Dark Order guys talked among themselves about how they were going to be in costumes.
Jungle Boy made his entrance with the crowd humming along with the song. Jungle Boy is 13-3 this year. Brandon Cutler the stooge was already in the ring.
Jungle Boy vs. Brandon Cutler
Boy with a clothesline followed by a suicide dive. Boy charged, Cutler got a boot up and Cutler teased a Panama Sunrise move, but then Boy hit a back body drop. Cutler with a slap to the face. Boy slapped him a few times and hit a Powerbomb. Boy applied the Snare Trap on Cutler, who tapped out. It went about one minute.
Winner by submission: Jungle Boy
Analysis: 1/2* Easy win for Jungle Boy over Cutler the stooge. It was what it needed to be with Jungle Boy beating Cutler easily.
Jungle Boy said that was a nice little warmup. Jungle Boy said that he’s feeling good and ready to go again so wanted one of the “Elite pieces of shit” to come out there right now. Jungle Boy applied the Snare Trap again. Cutler spoke into the microphone: “Somebody help me!”
Adam Cole walked out saying that Jungle Boy is an embarrassment. Cole said that maybe they should fight right here, right now. Cole made his way down to the ring, Boy punched him off the apron and then The Young Bucks showed up from behind with a double superkick. The fans chanted for Luchasaurus as The Elite beat on Boy on the stage. Young Bucks hit the BTE Trigger double knees and Cole hit the Boom knee to the back of the head. JR said no Luchasaurus this week because he was attacked last week. Cole told Boy that they run AEW. The Young Bucks threw Boy off the stage and crashing through some tables that were probably surrounded by some crash pads. You could even see some of the padding that Jungle Boy was laying on. It looked like a fun dive.
Analysis: Jungle Boy was yet another babyface on this show that had no help or anybody that tried to help him. This should lead to Cole vs. Jungle Boy in singles action or maybe they go with Cole & Young Bucks vs. Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus & Christian Cage at Full Gear. I don’t know. They have a few options at least.
This Wednesday on AEW Dynamite:
* 8-Man Tag: Dark Order vs. The Elite
* TNT Championship: Sammy Guevara vs. Ethan Page
* TBS Women’s Championship Round 1: Serena Deeb vs. Hikaru Shida
* AEW World Title Eliminator: Jon Moxley vs. Dark Order’s Ten
* Bobby Fish vs. CM Punk. It is Punk’s first match on Dynamite.
This Friday on AEW Dynamite
* Bryan Danielson vs. Eddie Kingston
* Sydal Brothers vs. Lio Rush & Dante Martin
Main event time with Malakai Black facing Cody Rhodes is up next.
(Commercial)
There was a video featuring Miro talking about somebody ignoring him and testing him. Miro said that he will be God’s favorite champion again. He kept on talking about “you” and stuff, so I’m not sure where it’s going.
The lights went out in the building, Ross joked “where’s my wallet?” and said it was a Bobby Heenan line. Heenan rules! Malakai Black made his entrance with the lights off in the building and a spotlight on Malakai Black sitting in the ring.
Cody Rhodes made his entrance with the coach Arn Anderson by his side. Cody tried to get the crowd to cheer him, but some of the fans don’t like him.
Malakai Black vs. Cody Rhodes (w/Arn Anderson)
They were aggressively going or submissions and Black hit a kick to the head. It turned into a bit of a slugfest, Black with a sweep kick and a hard kick to the chest. Black went for a kneebar submission, but Cody turned into it and stomped on Black. The fans booed Cody. When Cody ran the ropes, Black hit a back elbow. Cody hit a powerslam into a pin leading to some boos. Cody tossed his leather belt into the crowd and some kid caught the belt, so the fans cheered. Black with an eye gouge. Black grabbed a steel chair from under the ring. Lee Johnson and Brock Anderson went down to the ring to watch the match. They went to picture in picture break.
(Commercial)
When the match returned, Cody gave Black a Cross Rhodes neckbreaker off the apron through the table and Cody’s back is what hit the table instead of Black’s body. What is the point of that move if you are the one going through the table instead of the opponent? Anyway, Black went under the ring a bit and he came up bleeding, so he did a blade job. Black threw Cody into the ring post and Cody did a blade job as well, so he was bleeding too. Arn Anderson was in the ring for some reason and the fans were chanting “Get The Glock” referring to Arn’s recent gun promo. Cody and Black were taking their time getting back up, Cody kept looking to the back and there was Andrade El Idolo. Andrade did a hand motion to Arn like he was shooting a gun, then Andrade’s assistant Jose went into the ring and Arn hit a spinebuster on him. Black spit the dreaded mist in Arn’s face. Pac was in his ring gear on the ramp and he fought Andrade to the back. Cody charged into a boot, Black with an elbow, then a moonsault on a standing Cody and Cody hit a Cross Roads to boos, Black kicked out at two and the fans cheered. Black to the apron, he kicked Cody in the chest, Black up top and he jumped off with a double foot stomp to the stomach. Black with a rising knee followed by a bridging German Suplex for two. Black hit Cody with his spin kick to the face that used to be known as Black Mass with Cody falling into the ropes, so Black couldn’t pin him. The referee talked to the wrestlers to let them know how much time. Cody got up as if it was nothing, Black sent him to the floor and Black went for a moonsault, but Cody moved. Cody hit a suicide dive (way to no sell the kick) on Black on the floor with the fans booing Cody some more. Cody hit a Cody Cutter off the ropes and the Cross Roads again. Cody picked up Black again, the fans booed (the announcers didn’t mention it at all) and Cody hit a Tiger Driver 98 for the pinfall win at 12 minutes.
Winner by pinfall: Cody Rhodes
Analysis: ***1/2 This was pretty good and fast-paced. A lot of big moves from both guys, some nearfalls that were believable, I liked the flurries of offense from Black and once again the pacing was key because it felt like an intense fight between two guys that hated eachother. With that said, I really didn’t like the finish because Cody basically no-sold the Black Mass spin kick so that he could do some more spots to finish the match. Why should I care when Black does a spin kick in the future when we saw Cody doing moves like a suicide dive and Cody Cutter one minute after he took a guy’s finish? You have to protect finishers better than that. I get that they right at the end of the show and the time allotted, but man, that made Black’s finisher look like shit. I’m sure the people that never complain about anything that AEW does will ignore that point that I made, but I try to point out everything. I’m fair in my reviews. Cody has said he doesn’t want to be a heel again since he did it a lot in his career already, but I sure hope he changes his mind because these fans hated him even though he was wrestling as a babyface getting revenge in a storyline that took several months. They hated Cody and loved Black. This was Black’s first loss in AEW. I don’t think it should have happened.
The fans were booing. Tony said it was redemption for Cody. Cody left the ring, hugged Arn and Cody went into the ring to get booed some more. That was it.
Analysis: The announcers didn’t mention the crowd completely rejecting Cody. They just ignored it. The viewer at home likely heard it and thought about it, but the announcers choose to ignore the response to Cody. I’m sure JR is used to it from when he was calling John Cena matches and then eventually WWE mentioned the booing. Anyway, we’ll see if AEW listens to the fans by turning Cody into a heel some day soon.
Three Stars of the Show
- Bryan Danielson
- Cody Rhodes/Aleister Black
- Dustin Rhodes
The Scoreboard
This Week: 7.25 out of 10
Last Week: 7.5
2021 Average: 7.38
Final Thoughts
A pretty good show overall this week. The Danielson/Dustin opener was the best while Cody/Black III was fast-paced for the most part, plus some decent stuff in between. It’s too bad Lance Archer got hurt in his match with Eddie Kingston, but Archer seems to be okay now, so that’s what matters in the long run. Danielson continues to impress in every match while I wonder if Cody is going to listen to the fans and embrace the heel turn soon. This Orlando crowd really turned on him.
I liked most of the promos too. They are setting things up well for Full Gear next month.
The next AEW pay-per-view is Full Gear on Saturday, November 13. Here’s what we know so far.
AEW World Championship: Kenny Omega (c) vs. “Hangman” Adam Page
AEW Tag Team Championships: Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) (c) vs. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)
AEW Women’s Championships: Britt Baker (c) vs. Ruby Soho
5-on-5 Tag Team Match: The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager, Santana & Ortiz) vs. American Top Team (Ethan Page, Scorpio Sky and three others)
Finals of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament
