AEW Collision Results – June 8, 2024

AEW Collision June 8

It was AEW Collision featuring FTR against BCC’s Claudio & Wheeler while Orange Cassidy faced Kyle O’Reilly in the main event.

Before I start, I want to thank Gino Lewis for reviewing AEW Collision for us on TJRWrestling for the last year. He did a great job. He’s not going to review it anymore because life is busy and it’s tough to find time on weekends. I’m going to take over and do a results post as you see below. I don’t have time to write a long review like I do for other shows.

This episode took place at the Mid-American Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The announcers were Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.

Match #1: Blackpool Combat Club – Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta vs. FTR – Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler ended in a time-limit draw. It was an even matchup the entire way with both teams coming close to winning multiple times. Claudio tried to make Cash submit right at the 20-minute mark, but time ran out so it was a draw.

After the match, Harwood wanted five more minutes. Brandon Cutler representing The Young Bucks said no to that. Cutler was beaten up by both teams. Claudio said they could have a rematch any time.

Kyle O’Reilly said he respects Orange Cassidy. The United Kingdom interrupted to encourage Kyle to work with them, but Kyle didn’t want to do it.

Match #2:Kris Statlander defeated Robyn Renegade by pinfall. Statlander won with the Saturday Night Fever in under two minutes.

It was also announced that Statlander is in the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup. Willow Nightingale, who won last year, is also in the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup.

Match #3: Dustin Rhodes defeated Johnny TV. Johnny’s wife Taya Valkyrie was at ringside and trying to interfere a lot. Dustin won with Cross Rhodes after about 10 minutes.

After the match, Dustin Rhodes trashed Jack Perry. Dustin called Jack a “little punk ass” among other things while talking about their match coming up on Dynamite.

A video aired about Zack Sabre Jr. Zack said he was challenging Orange Cassidy to a match at Forbidden Door on June 30th.

Match #4:Premiere Athletes – Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari defeated Trip Gordon & Dante Leon by pinfall in about one minute.

A video aired about Scorpio Sky telling AEW fans that he will be your hero, your voice, and your champion. Scorpion said he is here for you.

Match #5:“Timeless” Toni Storm defeated Lady Frost by pinfall. Storm won with Storm Zero after about eight minutes.

After the match, Storm did a promo: “Mariah, I know you’ve been having a real tough time lately. And in a few short weeks I’ll be facing your friend and your former partner Mina Shirakawa. And I know that must be very awkward for you. But darling, I love you so much. I’m so proud of you and I want you to have all the same opportunities as me, but I never had anyone look out for me. And that’s what I’m going to do for you. So, as AEW Women’s World Champion I am demanding that you be entered into the Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament! And I’m going to be there for you. And we’re going to get through this together!” (Thanks to AEW’s website for the transcript.)

Next week is the one-year anniversary of Collision. There will be a TNT Championship Qualifying Match between Lee Moriarty and Dante Martin.

Samoa Joe and Hook beat up the Premiere Athletes backstage. Joe: “Look at me! We did this to you!” At least he’s honest!

Match #6: Daniel Garcia defeated Tate Mayfairs by pinfall. Garcia won with a move called the Red Cross which is a lift into the double knees. It went about three minutes.

Who Won The AEW Collision Main Event?

Match #7:Orange Cassidy defeated Kyle O’Reilly by pinfall. It was a long match that lasted about 20 minutes. Orange hit Kyle with an Orange Punch, which knocked Kyle into the ropes and then Kyle bounced back so Orange hit another Orange Punch to win.

After the match, Trent Beretta and Kyle Fletcher of the Don Callis Family stable attacked Orange from behind. Kyle saw it on the video screen and tried to make the save. Trent and Fletcher beat up Orange and O’Reilly. Kris Statlander went into the ring to shake hands with Trent. Willow Nightingale went down to the ring, so Statlander ran away to avoid a fight.
