AEW Collision Results – June 29, 2024

AEW Collision June 29

It was AEW Collision featuring a big 6-man tag team match plus Swerve Strickland-Will Ospreay weigh-in ahead of their huge match at Forbidden Door.

This episode was taped on Wednesday after Dynamite at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. The announcers were Excalibur and Nigel McGuinness. Tony Schiavone lost his voice on Dynamite so Excalibur did Collision too.

This was the final AEW show before the AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door PPV. Check out our preview here.

Match #1: Orange Cassidy & Tomohiro Ishii defeated TMDK (Robbie Eagles & Shane Haste) by pinfall. Orange got the win with the Beach Break.

There was a video package about “Hangman” Adam Page showing some of his history with Swerve Strickland and The Young Bucks. It means that Hangman is coming back very soon.

Match #2: Stephanie Vaquer defeated Lady Frost by pinfall. Vaquer hit a Package Piledriver onto the knee like a backbeaker for the pinfall win. Mercedes Mone watched from ringside.

After the match, Mone had a staredown with Vaquer and then Vaquer’s tag partner Zeuxis attacked Mone from behind. Mone recovered and hit a Backstabber on Zeuxis. Vaquer went back into the ring to deliver a superkick to Mone and a backbreaker on Mone. Vaquer held up her NJPW Strong Women’s Title and Mone’s TBS Title in the air.

Match #3: Serena Deeb defeated Kelly Madan by pinfall with the Detox. It went just over one minute.

Post match, Serena Deeb did a promo asking for a challenge, and that led to former AEW Women’s Champion Riho making her return. Riho had a staredown with Deeb, who left the ring.

Chris Jericho was walking around backstage advising people. That led to a fight between Jericho, Big Bill, and an injured Bryan Keith against Samoa Joe, Hook and Katsuyori Shibata. Their fight went out into the arena. Jeff Cobb from NJPW went into the ring and suplexed Hook and Shibata. Cobb also hit a huge spinebuster on Joe.

That means that at Forbidden Door, Jericho will team with Big Bill & Jeff Cobb against Samoa Joe, Hook & Katsuyori Shibata.

Match #4: Hechicero defeated Kevin Blackwood by submission with a crucifix move. The match went two minutes.

Christian Cage and The Patriarchy were backstage talking about wanting to win the AEW Trios Tag Team Titles. Jay White and the Bang Bang Gang walked in to exchange words with Cage.

Match #5: Daniel Garcia defeated The Butcher by pinfall. Garcia won with a piledriver. Both guys are from Buffalo, which is where the show took place.

Will Ospreay was interviewed backstage when Don Callis arrived. Will told Callis he could beat Swerve Strickland on his own. Rush appeared behind Callis and put his hand on his shoulder while Callis stared at him, so it was a way to tease an alliance.

Match #6: Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament Quarterfinals: Hikaru Shida defeated Deonna Purrazzo by pinfall. Shida hit the Kitana spin kick to win.

After the match, Purrazzo attacked Shida. Thunder Rosa ran out for the save, so Purrazzo left the ring.

Jeff Jarrett was shown talking about being in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and what it means to him. Jeff’s buddies Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh said they won’t be with him because they know he can do it on his own.

The AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm did a promo about how she was going to win at Forbidden Door.

Who Won The AEW Collision Main Event?

Match #8: Jack Perry, El Phantasmo & Konosuke Takeshita defeated Mark Briscoe, Dante Martin & Lio Rush by pinfall in a matchup between the six men in the TNT Ladder Match at Forbidden Door. Takeshita hit Martin with a Blue Thunder Bomb followed by a running knee smash for the pinfall win.

After the match, Mark Briscoe cleared the ring while using a ladder. Briscoe jumped off the ladder with a dive onto the five other guys on the floor.

There was a final segment on Collision featuring AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland and International Champion Will Ospreay doing a weigh-in to build up their AEW World Title match at Forbidden Door. Ospreay weighed in at 220 pounds while Swerve weighed in at 230 pounds. The two men exchanged words while Swerve suggested offering Will’s wife a contract, so Will shoved him. There were many people on the stage and they separated both guys. Will broke free and hit a running Hidden Blade on Swerve to put him down. Will held up the AEW World Title and AEW International Title to celebrate while Swerve was out on the ramp.

The AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door PPV on Sunday, June 30th has 14 matches including four on the Zero Hour pre-show. Check out AEW’s website for information on how to order the show.
