AEW Collision June 15

It was AEW Collision featuring a Father’s Day message from Christian Cage, the Bang Bang Gang against House of Black, and more.

This was the one-year anniversary of AEW Collision.

This episode took place at the Mid-American Center in Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio. The announcers were Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.

Match #1: Blackpool Combat Club— Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, Bryan Danielson, & Claudio Castagnoli defeated Rocky Romero, Lio Rush, & TMDK – Mikey Nichols & Shane Haste by pinfall. Moxley hit Rush with the Death Rider for the win.

After the match, Moxley did a quick promo about his Forbidden Door match with Tetsuya Naito: “Tetsuya Naito of New Japan Pro Wrestling is a survivor, but Forbidden Door is the final conflict. This is it. This is your last chance. I’m not coming to beat you or defend my title, I am coming to Forbidden Door to put an end to Naito once and for all. I’m coming to finish your career, put you in the ground, and bury your ass once and for all!” (H/T AEW)

The Acclaimed team of Anthony Bowens, Max Caster & Billy Gunn were interviewed in the ring. They mentioned the Young Bucks fining them. However, interim EVP Christopher Daniels said that AEW Owner Tony Khan reversed the fine. Brandon Cutler, who is a friend of The Young Bucks, was beaten up by The Acclaimed and Daniels after that.

Match #2: Deonna Purrazzo defeated Thunder Rosa via referee stoppage in a No Disqualification Match. Purrazzo took a camera from a cameraman and hit Rosa in the head with it. Purrazzo pulled back on Rosa’s arms against the ropes for the Venus De Milo submission. The referee stopped the match after that.

A video package aired showing highlights of AEW Collision in the first year.

Match #3: Hechicero defeated Dalton Castle by pinfall. Hechicero won with a move where he put his legs around Castle’s head and dropped down with a leg drop.

Post match, Hechicero and the Gates of Agony beat up Castle. The Boys tried to make the save, but they were beaten up. Daniel Garcia & Matt Menard saved Castle from the attack because they had steel chairs, so they were able to clear the ring.

Christian Cage’s Father’s Day Special

The Partiarchy group led by Christian Cage was in the ring as he was joined by Killswitch, Nick Wayne and Mother Wayne. Christian told Nick that his father dying was the best thing to happen to him because it led Nick to Christian. Killswitch did a portrait painting that Christian thought was just “okay.” Nick gave Christian a card that Christian liked a lot more. Christian made it known that his group is going after the AEW World Trios Tag Team Championships.

Christian Cage also had this message for AEW Owner Tony Khan: “It’s uncommon for fathers to give out gifts on Father’s Day. But that’s what good fathers do. Tony Khan’s father gave him millions of dollars to start AEW. But as of this moment, I declare AEW my company! I am going to win every single accolade in this sport. Tony, I am your father now. We are the Patriarchy. We are the next AEW Trios Champions. We are the faces of TNT now and forever!”

Match #4: Dante Martin defeated Lee Moriarty by pinfall in a TNT Championship Ladder Match Qualifier. Martin won with a top rope Frog Splash.

That win means Martin joins Konosuke Takeshita, Mark Briscoe, and Jack Perry in the TNT Championship Ladder Match at Forbidden Door. There will be others in the match as well.

The Shane Taylor Promotion group that Moriarty is a part of did a cheap attack on Dante along with his brother Darius Martin and Action Andretti. Lio Rush made the save for Top Flight and Andretti.

Match #5: Kyle O’Reilly defeated Anthony Henry by submission. O’Reilly applied a cross armbreaker on the left arm for the tapout win. A short match that went under three minutes.

Who Won The AEW Collision Main Event?

Match #6: House of Black – Brody King, Buddy Matthews, & Malakai Black defeated Bang Bang Gang – Juice Robinson & The Gunns (Austin & Colten) by pinfall. It appeared as though Buddy Matthews injured his left knee during the match and he was out of the match. Even though they were undermanned, House of Black won when Black hit The End spin kick on Austin. That’s also because Pac tripped up Robinson on the top rope (the referee never saw it) right before the finish.

After the match, Christian Cage appeared on the screen with the Patriarchy group. Cage congratulated House of Black on their win to become challengers for the AEW Trios Tag Team Titles. Cage said it’s too bad they aren’t a trio anymore. The camera panned down to reveal Buddy Matthews laid out with a head on his chair while Cage held another chair, so the idea was that Cage hit Buddy with a Conchairto. That led to Black & King going to the back. That was the end of the show.
