AEW Collision Results – August 3, 2024

AEW Collision August 3

It was AEW Collision featuring words from Christian Cage’s The Patriarchy group and a big eight-man tag team main event.

The show was taped on Thursday at the Esports Stadium Arlington in Arlington, TX. The announcers for Collision were Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.

Christian Cage did a promo with his group The Patriarchy Nick Wayne, Killswitch, along with Mother Wayne to celebrate being AEW World Trios Tag Team Champions. Christian had something unique to say to Killswitch:

“I just wanted to acknowledge you and let you know how much you mean to me. With that being said, you did not give birth to a prodigy. Mother Wayne gave birth to the next best wrestler on this planet. Other than Christian Cage, I cannot think of a better person who deserves to be recognized as a Trios Champion other than her!”

That led to Christian taking the Trios Tag Team Title off Killswitch and he put it on Mother Wayne instead. House of Black interrupted with Buddy Matthews making his return. The Bang Bang Gang also showed up and sent Nick Wayne into the ring so he got beat up by House of Black. The Bang Bang Gang and House of Black had a staredown in the ring while Tony Schiavone wondered who would get a title shot.

The ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes, Ross Von Erich & Marshall Von Erich were interviewed backstage. Sammy Guevara interrupted saying he wanted to earn Dustin’s trust and be his own man. Sammy said he wanted to team with Dustin, so Dustin agreed.

Match #1: Claudio Castagnoli defeated Lee Moriarty (with Shane Taylor) and Tomohiro Ishii by pinfall. Claudio pinned Moriarty after a European uppercut leading to the pin. The win means that Claudio earned a shot at the Continental Crown Championship held by Kazuchika Okada.

Match #2: Mistico & Hologram defeated Premier Athletes – Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari (with “Smart” Mark Sterling) by pinfall. Hologram pinned Daivari after hitting a 450 Splash to win.

After the match, “The Learning Tree” FTW Champion Chris Jericho appeared on screen doing a promo about facing Mistico at the CMLL 91st Anniversary Show, Arena Mexico, September 13th, 2024. Jericho called himself the greatest luchador of all time.

Jeff Jarrett was interviewed backstage with Karen Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal by his side. Jarrett said he wanted his match with Bryan Danielson on Dynamite to be No Disqualification and Anything Goes. Jarrett said he’ll introduce Bryan to the “Last Outlaw” which is what Jarrett calls himself.

The AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm had a match up next, but first she fought with Mariah May, who was on commentary.

Match #3: Toni Storm defeated Rache Chanel by pinfall. It was a quick win by Storm, who won with a Storm Zero piledriver.

Match #4: Kyle Fletcher defeated Brian Cage by pinfall with a jumping Tombstone piledriver.

After the match, Kyle Fletcher did a promo saying he wanted his match with MJF on Dynamite to be for MJF’s American Championship. MJF replied via a video promo saying he’ll give Kyle an Eliminator Match meaning if Kyle can beat MJF, then Kyle can get an American Championship match against MJF the following week.

Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) was interviewed backstage with their new ally Leila Grey. They were interrupted by MxM Collection (Mason Madden & Mansoor) so they exchanged words and it will likely lead to a match.

Match #5: Thunder Rosa defeated Taya Valkyrie (with Johnny TV) by submission. Rosa won with a cobra clutch submission.

After the match, Rosa called out Deonna Purrazzo. The two women argued leading to Rosa challenging Purrazzo to a Texas Bullrope Match next week on Collision.

Who Won The AEW Collision Main Event?

Match #6: FTR – Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler, ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe & Darby Allin defeated “The Beast” Mortos & The Undisputed Kingdom – Roderick Strong, and ROH World Tag Team Champions Mike Bennett and Matt Taven by pinfall. Allin pinned Taven after a Coffin Drop.

There were some promos after the match.

Dax Harwood: “I love professional wrestling! And on top of that, I love AEW! This is the lifeblood of AEW right here in this ring! We are the heart and soul of AEW—”

The Acclaimed’s Max Caster & Anthony Bowens with Billy Gunn interrupted.

Max: “Cut that music! The heart and soul of AEW, really? I don’t think so. If you really loved AEW, let me ask, where were you last week when I was in the Blood & Guts Match fighting against the Elite? Your body can’t hold up to the grind. So don’t ever talk about us until you’ve done half of what we’ve done for AEW!”

Anthony: “I don’t know what else we have to do to earn your respect, because like Max said, last week we were giving our bodies for this company! Guys, respectfully, we don’t care about your legacy. We care about building ours. We are homegrown! We are the heart and soul of AEW! Everyone loves the Acclaimed! You do not get to cut the line to face the Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Titles. That belongs to us! The scoreboard reads Acclaimed 1, FTR 0, so if you two have a problem with that I suggest you nut up or shut up!”

That led to FTR and The Acclaimed fighting.

Mark Briscoe spoke up to try to calm them down: “This is what the Young Bucks want! Chill out! Their plan is to divide and conquer. So, let’s show some unity here. We are AEW!”

FTR offered The Acclaimed a handshake, but The Acclaimed walked away without accepting it. That was the end of the show.

That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading.
