Report: WWE Payback Pay-Per-View on August 30 (One Week After SummerSlam), Plus SummerSlam Update

It is being reported by @WrestleVotes on Twitter that there are going to be two pay-per-views in August. We already knew about SummerSlam on Sunday, August 23 and apparently there’s going to be Payback on Sunday, August 30 as well.

The Sunday, August 30 date was rumored to be a second WWE Evolution all-women’s pay-per-view, but if they are using the Payback name like they have done in the past then that’s likely a regular PPV show with male and female superstars.

If the Payback name sounds familiar it’s because WWE used it from 2013 to 2017 until they chose to stop using it.

The other WWE PPV dates on the 2020 calendar look like this:

* September 20 – Clash of Champions (Originally planned to be in Newark, NJ)
* October 18 – Hell in a Cell (Originally planned to be in Atlanta, GA)
* November 22 – Survivor Series (Originally planned to be in Dallas, TX)
* December 20 – TLC (Originally planned to be in Chicago, IL)

As is the case for anything in 2020, the locations are unknown right now and could be at the WWE Performance Center like most Raw and Smackdown events since mid-March due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

It is also being reported by @WrestleVotes that there are WWE meetings today about the location of SummerSlam on Sunday, August 22.

It will be interesting to see if WWE can come up with a location other than the WWE Performance Center, but if they can’t then they’ll likely choose to keep SummerSlam at home at the WWE PC. There have been rumors of using a boat or the beach, but it’s not known if there’s any truth those rumors.

TJR Thoughts: I know some people doubt the authenticity of Wrestlevotes, so that’s why I put “Report” at the top. It doesn’t mean it is for sure news that is locked in until WWE announces this stuff. I think the Payback thing is definitely true and WWE will probably announce that soon as well.
