Report: Talks of Lana Competing More On WWE Raw; Finding Kalisto A Female Partner

TJR Wrestling

United States Champion Kalisto will be defending his title against Rusev this Sunday at WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view event from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Many people would not consider Kalisto and Rusev’s rivalry to be the most exciting current feud. However, the consensus among the “WWE Universe” seems to be that they want more Lana, and they just might be getting their wish.

Lana competed in a tag team match last week during NXT’s tour of Florida. The tag match was Lana and Mandy Rose vs. Carmella and Daria. Dave Meltzer noted in the most recent edition of his Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is currently talking about having Lana compete in matches on Raw in the near future in the vein of mixed tag matches with her fiancee Rusev. Having Lana compete at NXT house shows is WWE’s way of trying to give her more in-ring experience so she can be ready if called upon.

Speaking of mixed tag matches, Meltzer also notes that there is talk within WWE of finding Kalisto a female wrestler he can partner with to go up against the team of Rusev and Lana. This indicates that Kalisto and Rusev’s feud will continue beyond Extreme Rules.

Mark’s reaction: Aside from WrestleMania 32’s pre-show, I have not seen Lana compete that much. From what I’ve seen so far, I wasn’t blown away or anything, but she’s still relatively new to in-ring competition. Lana’s obviously a very beautiful woman and I enjoy her as a manager, but I don’t know how I feel about her competing. Hopefully she can prove me wrong and turn into a competent wrestler who can hold her own. Until then though, I’m not going to get overly excited.

In regards to Kalisto, I wonder if adding a new woman to the Lucha Dragons faction could be what the Lucha Dragons need to spice things up a bit and get back in the public eye as a relevant team. Ever since Kalisto won the United States Title, the Lucha Dragons haven’t been going after the Tag Titles or competing as a team as much as they used to. Maybe adding a female wrestler to their gang could be the route to take to freshen things up.

Do you want to see Lana do more wrestling? Do you think adding a woman wrestler to the Lucha Dragons could work? What female wrestler would you like to see possibly team up with Kalisto? Let us know in the comment section below.
