Report: Reason For Awkward Emmalina Segment On This Week’s WWE Raw

Emmalina made her long awaited “re-debut” on this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw. She’s been with the company for years as simply Emma, but was repackaged as Emmalina after she suffered an injury that kept her on the shelf for a while.

Video packages played on Raw for 17 weeks hyping up the debut of Emmalina. She finally made her debut on this week’s Raw, but what she said was a bit of a surprise. Emmalina said that the WWE Universe was so patient to see the makeover of Emma to Emmalina, and now it’s complete. She said that now we’ll see the makeover of Emmalina to Emma, then left.

The segment came across as awkward and confusing since the Emmalina character was hyped up by WWE for so long and it didn’t have any payoff. It’s being reported that WWE had huge plans for the Emmalina character, but decided to scrap the plans all together after multiple rehearsals with Emma were not going well. This is according to Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Pro Wrestling Sheet notes that Emmalina was supposed to be a throwback gimmick similar to Sable or The Kat, but WWE producers felt that Emma wasn’t committing enough to the role and decided to have her go back to her previous heel role.

The report also notes that WWE still really likes the idea of the character of Emmalina, so maybe it’s brought back in a new incarnation, with a different wrestler, at some point in the future.
