Mike and Maria Kanellis are staying where they are. The married couple, who have a daughter at home, have signed new five-year deals to remain with World Wrestling Entertainment according to Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin.

There have been reports in the past that the couple was unhappy, they may heve even requested their release, yet they continued to work for WWE. The report from Satin noted the couple recently signed the contracts and that they were “happy with their final offers.” Mike is 34 years old and Maria is 37 years old.

How much did they get? That’s something we don’t know and likely we never know. What we do know is that a lot of wrestlers in the past year have been offered significant raises because WWE doesn’t want their superstars leaving for other companies (like AEW). Another reason for the raises is because WWE has more money than ever thanks to $2 billion in TV money over the next five years from NBC/USA for Raw and Fox for Smackdown.

The couple teased the idea of leaving WWE when Maria sent out a tweet saying “contracts are up in three weeks” and then she later joked that she meant their gym membership.

Mike was known as Mike Bennett in his pre-WWE days mostly in Ring of Honor. He met Maria when they were in the indies. They got married in 2014 and in April 2018 they had a baby girl named Fredrica (or “Freddie”) Moon Bennett. Mike has also talked about how he had an addiction to prescription drugs that he has overcome.

Mike and Maria are on the 205 Live roster at the moment. It’s not known if they remain exclusive to 205 Live with Mike wrestling as a cruiserweight for most of the next five years or if they will be featured on Raw or Smackdown in the future.

TJR Thoughts: Good for Mike and Maria signing extensions that are likely for more money. If I had to guess, they will probably be on Raw or Smackdown soon because if WWE gives a raise to wrestlers, it makes sense to give them more of a spotlight on the bigger shows.

Congrats to Mike and Maria on their new contracts.
