Report: John Cena and Nikki Bella Have Broken Up After Six Years Together

TJR Wrestling

It was announced late on Sunday night that 16-time WWE Champion John Cena and two-time Divas (now Women’s) Champion Nikki Bella have broken up. The couple started dating in 2012, they got engaged in the ring at WrestleMania 33 last year in Orlando and now they have broken up.

The story was initially reported by USMagazine.com, who was given this statement from John and Nikki:

“While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”

John and Nikki were very open with the public for some of their lives since the E Network show Total Divas started in 2012, the same year they started dating. That led to the Bella Twins (Nikki and sister Brie) getting their own show on E Network called Total Bellas that featured Nikki and John even more. The couple was together at the WWE Hall of Fame last weekend.

I’m sure the relationship was difficult for them considering how busy Cena has become as a part-time wrestler that is getting more acting roles than ever before, plus he’s doing commercial, he’s hosted television shows, he’s hosted awards shows and so on. After a while, it’s tough to keep a relationship going and both of them have talked about it a lot.

Normally this kind of thing wouldn’t be news on our website that is mostly about writing about the business we love and news stories related to it. That’s not going to change. The main reason I’m writing about it is because John and Nikki have been in the public eye a lot, everybody remembers their WrestleMania moment last year and it’s a newsworthy story to me.

I sincerely wish both of them all the best in their future…relationship endeavors.

Monday Morning Update

The following was posted on People.com about what may have caused the split with People claiming it is some insider.

“She never gave him an ultimatum. He talked a really good game about having changed, about having his priorities straight, about knowing what’s important, and that it was her. But as the day got closer, it was like he just went back to who he’s always been — which is someone who puts himself first, always. He’s an incredibly dedicated, driven, ambitious guy. And for the longest time he said he didn’t think he had room in his life for a spouse or kids. It seems like in the end that was still the truth. But in that case, he never should’ve proposed, let alone in front of millions of people. Now she’s heartbroken. This was supposed to be the happiest time of her life. He ruined it and blew everything up.”

Cena tweeted this. Whether it’s about his relationship or not, you decide.

I’ll end this with their WrestleMania 33 match plus some other clips from their “Total” reality shows that are really awkward.
