Report: Edge vs. Roman Reigns is Planned for WWE Universal Title Match at WrestleMania 37, Edge on Smackdown This Week
Edge won the WWE Royal Rumble on Sunday night and with that victory, the WWE Hall of Famer gets to choose what champion he wants to face at WrestleMania 37. Edge could challenge Raw’s Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship or Smackdown’s Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. WrestleMania 37 takes place on Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11. Keep in mind also that we have WWE Elimination Chamber on February 14 and then Fastlane on March 21.
On tonight’s episode of Raw, Edge let WWE Champion Drew McIntyre know that when Edge decides what he wants to do, he will let us know. After Edge left the ring, McIntyre was met by a Brogue Kick from his best friend Sheamus, so it looks like Drew has to deal with an angry best friend now.
As for Edge’s future, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer is reporting that Edge is expected to face Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37. Meltzer wrote: “Not sure when this will be officially announced, but Roman Reigns vs. Edge is the planned main event at WrestleMania.” Plans can change, but after the Royal Rumble took place, it’s likely locked in now. It’s a battle of the Spear finishers, I guess.
During tonight’s Raw main event when Edge beat Randy Orton after a distraction from Alexa Bliss, the announcers kept saying it was “one last time” for this Edge match with Orton. That’s a way to tell the audience that Edge was going to Smackdown too.
It appears as though Edge could make his WrestleMania announcement as soon as this Friday’s edition of Smackdown because the WWE on Fox Twitter account posted this preview video during Raw tonight.

If you’re wondering about Women’s Royal Rumble winner Bianca Belair, Meltzer noted that her match isn’t known right now although a match against Smackdown’s Sasha Banks does make a lot of sense. It could be Raw’s Asuka, though.
TJR Thoughts: I’m fine with Edge vs. Reigns because I know they’ll both work hard to make the match matter and make us care about the match. I was hoping for Daniel Bryan against Reigns, but that can happen at another PPV.
