Nick Gage Bout Causes Domino’s To Reconsider AEW Ads
AEW fans may have been looking forward to Nick Gage appearing at Fight For The Fallen but his bout with Chris Jericho left one advertiser less than impressed.
In the main event of Fight For The Fallen, Chris Jericho battled Nick Gage in his ‘Second Labour of Jericho.’ Jericho has been challenged to complete several labours if he is to get his much sought-after rematch with Pinnacle leader, MJF.
With Jericho in the ring on Wednesday’s show, Nick Gage made his entrance with pizza cutter in hand after he had said previously that he was looking to “carve up” AEW’s Demo-God.
The choice of weapon left one advertiser particularly unhappy as a commercial for Domino’s Pizza was shown in the midst of the bloody battle.
This could have bigger consequences for AEW and TNT as a whole as a spokesperson for the pizza chain says they are reviewing their advertising during AEW programming. Front Office Sports have quoted company spokesperson Jenny Fouracre-Petko as saying:
“We share the concerns expressed about this incident and the content of this TV-14 rated program, and are assessing our advertising presence on it going forward.”
Chris Jericho’s next labour was announced by MJF after he defeated Gage with Le Champion set to renew an old rivalry from his days in WCW. Juventud Guerrera will face Jericho in what will be the three-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion’s first match on TNT in over twenty years.
Nick Gage’s appearance in All Elite Wrestling is rumoured to be a one time deal. In what was a busy week for Gage, he also lost the GCW Championship to Matt Cardona, a result that elicited an extreme response from the MDK loyal fans in attendance.
